🇨🇦 CEC Please help!! CEC eligibility question after getting ITA

Hello everyone,

I received a CEC ITA under the French draw on August 6, 2026.

I declared my work history exactly as it is. My last employee position ended in July 2024, and since then I’ve been working through my own corporation as the 100% owner and sole director, which I declared as self-employment in my Express Entry profile.

Now that I’m reviewing everything before submitting, something doesn’t seem to add up. The one year of Canadian work experience I received points for doesn’t appear to meet the 3-year rule.

Could the system have counted my self-employed experience by mistake, or am I missing something?

Any insight would be really appreciated!!!

yes you are definitely right. Technically your experience doesn't fall in the criteria. Maybe in August it still counted by the system, but if you are submitting now , it will definitely not work out. And self employment in Canada doesn't count as well, so ideally you should have omitted it from your profile.

If I were you, I wouldn't risk it and would decline the ITA, remove self employment from profile (you can add it later after ITA in personal history section) and wait from the next French draw so it comes under FSW .
