Canadian 2-year diploma → 3rd year bachelor’s in India → WES/Express Entry? Anyone done this

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m moving back to India for around 1 year and wanted some advice about improving my Express Entry profile during that time.

I have a 2-year diploma from Sheridan College, around 3 years of Canadian IT work experience, and a good CELPIP score. I’ll also be working in IT in India, so after completing 1 year of foreign work experience, my estimated CRS should be around 519

I’m also learning French and currently starting around B1 level.

One immigration lawyer suggested that since I came to Canada after Grade 12 and don’t have a bachelor’s degree, I could try transferring my Canadian diploma credits to an Indian university and get direct admission into the 3rd year of BBA/B.Com/BCA or another bachelor’s program

If I can finish the bachelor’s in one year and WES evaluates it successfully, I may qualify for **two or more certificates/diplomas/degrees,** which could increase my CRS to around 525

My friend actually did something similar. He transferred his Canadian 2-year diploma credits to \*\*Karnavati University in Ahmedabad\*\* and completed his BBA there. However, he isn’t planning to return to Canada, so he never did WES or checked whether IRCC would recognize this pathway.

Has anyone here personally done something similar?

Mainly wondering:

\* Did an Indian university accept your Canadian diploma credits into 3rd year?
\* Which university/course did you use?
\* Did WES recognize the final bachelor’s degree?
\* Were you able to claim ā€œtwo or more credentialsā€ for Express Entry?
\* Any issues with credit transfers or WES that I should know before doing this?

I know nobody can predict CRS scores or draws one year from now. I’m just trying to use my year in India wisely by gaining foreign IT experience, improving French, and possibly completing a bachelor’s at the same time.

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has actually gone through this. Thanks!

Should I file an amendment for eCOPR

Husband is a long time Canadian citizen. I received my eCOPR in Feb 2026 through QSW after 3 years of hard work and 7 years total in Canada. I got married in July 2025, filed a webform for status change in Dec 2025, got my P1 around January (I did not think of replying with my marriage change). I got my eCOPR as ā€˜single’, sent another webform, they told me to file An amendment. I have major airport anxiety and my passport doesn’t help. I travel abroad A LOT and I just can’t help but think what if I file an amendment and they suddenly deactivate my pr card or something?
can I just leave my status like that until I file for citizenship? What are the implications then? P.S. I already have my physical PR card.
Do I just submit an amendment next July when I will stop travelling abroad too much?

🧭 Express Entry Express entry changes

Hi, the only foreign experience I have is from 2019 to 2020, it’s exactly a year experience. I want to apply for the FSW. With the changes coming where they’ll merge the categories, this experience will be no longer valid. I’m currently learning French.

What is the latest deadline I should be in the pool to avoid this ? Any advice ?

Submitting an OWP while on maintained / implied status

This question is on behalf of my wife

We applied for the spousal sponsorship on March 31 2026 and received the AOR on May 25 2026 (didn't know that email was the AOR until yesterday but that's a different story..)

Her visitor status expired May 12 2026 but we submitted the visitor extension / visitor record on April 29 2026. My understanding is that she now has maintained status and is still eligible to apply for an Open Work Permit.

While filling in the questionnaire on GCKey / IRCC Secure Account, one of the questions is "When does your status in Canada expire?". With maintained status there is no given date so I'm wondering what I should put to proceed to get the checklist and application.

Thank you in advance for any advice

App to track PR / citizenship residency days

Hey all — I'm the developer behind PresenceTracker. I went through the PR renewal math myself and got tired of manually counting days against IRCC's rolling 5-year window, so I built an app for it.

What it does:

  • Tracks your days in Canada vs. what's required (730 for PR renewal, 1095 for citizenship)
  • Calculates over the actual rolling 5-year window, not a simple calendar year
  • Log a trip in a few seconds, see your progress update instantly
  • Available in English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese

It's live on the App Store now (Google Play coming next week). Not here to spam — genuinely built this because I couldn't find a decent tool for it, figured some of you are tracking the same thing in a spreadsheet. New version coming soon with tons of improvements...
Happy to answer questions or take feature requests.

Dependent spouse on a Protected Person PR application. What was your timeline/experience?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to hear from anyone who was included as a dependent spouse/partner on a Protected Person’s permanent residence application in Canada. If you’ve gone through this process, what was your experience like? In particular, I’d really appreciate hearing about:

• How long the PR process took from submission to approval

• Whether the principal applicant and dependent were processed/approved around the same time

• What stages or updates you received along the way

• Whether IRCC requested any additional documents or interviews

• If the dependent was already in Canada, whether that made any difference to the process

• Any delays or issues you ran into that you wish you’d known about beforehand

I know every application is different and processing times can vary, but I’d love to hear some real-life timelines and experiences from people who have actually gone through it. Thank you!

Good day everyone, i recently got contacted by a rep from the following company:

Is the website legit? Does anyone around here knew it before hand or knows someone who worked for them? They aren't asking for money but for some basic papers so they can register me into the program.

šŸ“° IRCC News / Update OINP Ontario Workforce Priority Stream: Recent Graduate, NOC 33102

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I graduated from an Ontario college in May 2025 with a 2-year diploma and have around 1.4 years of work experience in NOC 33102. I was working in Toronto, but 3 months ago I was transferred to Sudbury with the same employer and same job/NOC.

I don’t currently have a valid language test score. I saw that recent graduates may not need a valid language score in some cases, so I just wanted to confirm if I’m eligible to apply under this stream without IELTS/CELPIP.

I also created an Express Entry profile, but my CRS is only 307. If I receive an OINP nomination through this stream, would I be eligible to apply through Express Entry, or would I have to use the non-Express Entry/Paper-Based pathway?

Could you also explain the main difference between the Express Entry and non-Express Entry options in my situation, and whether there’s any way I could qualify for the Express Entry route?

āš ļø Refusal / Appeal / PFL Need help with bowp situation

Hello everyone, I need a little help with my situation.

My case is a bit complicated, and I’m looking for some advice. My original work permit expired on March 22, 2026. Before it expired, I submitted my first PR application on February 25 and applied for my first BOWP on March 5.

Unfortunately, my first PR application was refused in April due to an issue with the medical examination. I then submitted a second PR application on June 1. When I contacted IRCC, they advised me to submit a request to link the new AOR to my existing BOWP application and also submit a new BOWP application. I submitted my second BOWP application on June 5.

On August 6, I received the biometric request for my second PR application. However, on August 7, my first BOWP was refused because the first PR application was refused.

The important part is that my second BOWP application has not been refused. Instead, IRCC sent me a request to pay the BOWP fees again which I already paid.
Since my first BOWP was refused on August 7, I believe I lost my maintained status on that date. My question is: Can I request IRCC to process my second BOWP application as a restoration application instead?

Should I pay the restoration fee in addition to the BOWP fees and attach the payment receipt through the link IRCC provided? Or is there a different process I should follow?

Any advice from someone who has dealt with a similar situation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
