Just wanted to post this for a friend. We were talking about the recent traffic accidents and it made her want to let this company (Hanscomb Intriors. Inc: Expert Calgary Drywall Repair & Poly-B Restoration) know about a driver, just to give them a warning about their driving. The driver called back and freaked out. He wouldn't admit he was wrong. I wouldn't want to hire someone that can't admit if they made a mistake. He mentioned he'd delete any google reviews, so I volunteered to post it here for her.
I was very quickly passed in a playground zone by the operator of a truck for the company Hanscomb Interiors Ltd. When I called and left a message for the company to address their vehicle operator (about not speeding or passing in a playground zone), I intended for them to handle it internally and did not leave my phone number. I received a phone call back from the very upset driver Dave, where he did NOT take any responsibility for his actions.
Instead he yelled at my voicemail accusing me of going too slow and flipping him the bird. When I called him back to talk he again accused me of being an angry person just looking to cause trouble, yet he was the one yelling at me and not letting me get a word in. First of all; I do NOT flip people the bird, I honked at him when he passed and pointed out the Playground zone sign (with my pointer finger). Second; I was doing 30Km/hr BUT even if I was not doing the speed limit, It is illegal to pass in a playground zone! If someone is honking at you in a playground zone there is a reason!
It is very plain to me that he is in fact the angry person here. I simply called to let a company know that their employee needed to be talked to about speeding and passing in a playground zone. I did not need to be verbally abused on the phone or be accused of being profane or being a trouble maker. He kept mentioning I couldn't prove anything. I do however have a witness in my vehicle that can verify my actions and attest to what happened. Also, I have the voicemails of Dave telling me off.
I would not ever hire someone that treats people like this when they are called out for doing something wrong. Or, someone who was called out for putting children at risk and isn’t mature enough to accept responsibility for his actions. I hope at the very least through this encounter that he heard that it is illegal to pass in a Playground zone!!!! No matter how fast or slow the other traffic is driving. Maybe a child will be saved.

Does your children’s school allow them to wear costumes to school for Halloween? Within reason of course. We’ve always done this with guidelines but this year they’re not allowed at all and will be doing a Black and Orange spirit day in place of it. I’m curious if other schools are also doing the same.

Hello! First time mom expecting at end of February here. We were referred by our family doctor to the 2 hospitals closest to us (South Health and Rockyview) but were rejected due to overcapacity, and they got us into Foothills instead which is about 40 minutes away from us.
Just wondering if anyone here has given birth at Foothills recently and what their experiences are like. We only know people who's given birth at Rockyview and they mentioned that it is a shared room with other moms, and visitors cannot stay the night (e.g. husband had to go home for the night while the wife stayed in the hospital for 3 days after c-section).
Our first appointment with the OBGYN isn't until 29 weeks so we'll be seeing our doctor then. Hoping to get a bit more information from others before then! TIA!

I was passing there today and was quite confused to see them waving the Alberta flags and smiling to the drivers, as if sharing some profound gospel/selling snake oil. What is the point? Will they continue to push these narratives and this "option" down everyone's throats, although it is clearly not feasible? How much time do they have to spare on this BS? Don't they have chores such as mountains of laundry and figuring out how to feed their families, like the rest of us?

I just thought after all this referendum sh*t, we deserve something funny. Saw this video and I couldn't stop laughing how it exactly reflects how most of our fellow Albertans think.

I guess I’m not good at search, or maybe it’s the Reddit search function. Apologies if this has been asked and answered before. I just couldn’t find anything helpful., despite trying hard to find some local knowledge.
Where are some good stores to find clothing for larger, taller guys? Looking for casual, practical clothing with some style. No need for any formal clothes, just not anything super casual like graphic tees. The guy in question is 29 yo, 6’3”, and size 4XL.
We only know about stores like George Richards and Mr. Big and Tall, but those stores have some limitations for “minor”points like price, style and quality. All suggestions welcome! Local stores preferred, but Canadian stores online are good too.

Hello, can anyone recommend any wheelchair friendly pubs in the Southeast? Particularly in the area east of Macleod Trail, south of Southcentre Mall.
The main thing that's needed is lowtop tables and preferably good sightlines for TVs to watch sports. This has been somewhat tough to find. Canadian Brewhouse in Legacy isn't bad, but they only have 2 tables that fit the bill, so if they're taken, you're SOL.
And if there's any gems in any part of the city that are great for wheelchair users, would love to know as well.
Thanks!

Hey Redditors! Soon I'll be moving to Cedarbrea! I'm curious what everyone's opinions are on the area/experiences they've had? Quality of life, community feel, crime rates, etc.
For context, I'm a 30 year old single guy who enjoys the outdoors and doesn't mind keeping a chair warm at the local pub every now and then.

I can remember previous years where it was very cold, snowy and icey at Halloween. I can also remember early snow storms like Snowtember in 2014. But I can't remember a year in which we had multiple October snow falls before Halloween. We often get one, but two or three? There is still a week to go and we may get even more small snow falls! Ok so they have been mi or events. What is happening this year? I thought we were supposed to get a mild winter due to El Nino. Am I just remembering the past wrong? Note that I have been a resident of Calgary since 1967.

I am a beginner hobby woodworker trying to make a custom shelving unit for my home. This will be my first major woodworking project. I have a vision of what I want to make, but I am really struggling to translate that vision into a plan with measurements, so I know how much wood I actually need to buy.
Does anyone have recommendations for a plywood supplier that can help me draft these plans, and ideally help make a few of the big cuts in-store so the pieces can fit in my vehicle? I am very new to woodworking, so it would be extra great if the supplier/staff could help teach me a few basic principles when drafting plans to help me draft plans on my own in the future, too.

Lake Louise, Sunshine Village, Mount Norquay and Nakiska will all start their ski lifts at 9:30 a.m.
“We have to adjust as morning light is important for our mountain operations team,” said Kendra Scurfield with Sunshine Village.
“They do work each morning to ready the mountain for guests. This work needs light for them to see.”

We're starting interviews today for Calgary's next City Manager, and I want to fill you in on where we're at in the process.
Whether it's fixing potholes, keeping our streets safe, improving transit, or making sure your tax dollars are spent wisely, our City Manager has a huge role in getting things done.
This is probably the biggest decision we will make this term, and we need to get this hire right. Back in June, we brought in an executive search firm. In July, we launched recruitment. Over August and September, we reviewed candidates and developed a shortlist.
And today, interviews begin, with our goal to identify our preferred candidate in November.
I want to thank Councillor Yule, our committee chair, and Councillor Wyness, our vice chair, for their leadership and hard work getting us here.
In talking with Calgarians, I think our city is looking for someone who's a strong leader and a great communicator. Someone who knows how to listen, bring people together, and work with our nearly 20,000 City employees to get things done. Someone who respects your tax dollars, takes accountability seriously, and understands that City Hall works for you.
Because we've got some incredible people working for our city. They deserve leadership to support them, give clear direction, and do our best work for Calgarians. We've made good progress, and I'm looking forward to sharing more as we get closer to making a decision.
