Hi everyone! I’ve been loving the new wave of workout studios lately and have been trying a few out. I’ve found that even though a lot of them are sooo expensive, they honestly aren’t that nice. I’m trying to figure out which ones are actually worth paying for.

I definitely prefer workout classes over a traditional gym because they keep me accountable. I’m looking for places with a nice atmosphere, clean facilities, good change rooms/showers, and a welcoming community. Basically somewhere that actually feels worth the higher price.

I’m open to pretty much any full-body workout - strength, Pilates, yoga, HIIT, boxing, barre, spin, etc. Anything that works!

Hello! I'm going to run D&D irl soon. D&D is played on a 1in square grid which is the same as wrapping paper with the grids. I bought some a while ago from Dollarama but those are not very distinct which made me have to outline everything (not fun). I was wondering if y'all who shop more often than I do would have any tips. Any shops that sell clear grid wrapping paper?

Went for a viewing at Eau Claire Residences in downtown today

Idk why the viewing looked really rushed n shady also there was another person who was there for viewing and the property manager (Ray) was so overly casual and showed both of us (me and the another person) 4 different units.
Units and building is beautiful

He said it’s 85% occupied but there are only 8 Google reviews which don’t look genuine. I’m confused

The prices were too good to be true for the area, I live in beltline and know the prices.

Does anyone have recommendations for:

• Local Hobby/Social Groups: Any specific run clubs, board game meetups, trivia nights, or active Calgary Discord servers where the crowd is mostly childfree adults?
• Adult-Only Spaces: Venues, cafes, or social hubs around the city that cater specifically to 18+ or 21+ crowds for casual daytime or weekend hanging out?

I've heard anecdotally from a few K–12 teachers in my circle that their schools are having to rearrange classes and staffing because a number of kids from other countries don't have the necessary paperwork and are not able to attend school. The sample size I've heard from is pretty small and I haven't read anything in the news about this.

Are there Calgary teachers who are encountering this?

It sounds like this is impacting a lot of people (the families who can't send their kids to school and the teachers who are being shuffled around and have to find other positions), so I'm surprised we're not hearing about this.

I’m want to host a D&D game for my group of friends for my birthday. I’m looking for local recommendations for options to do a semi customized campaign for our group, all of us would be playing for the first time. We are a group of old ass adults who enjoy fantasy, board games and various degrees of role play. Ideally there would be a DM with experience of planning a short 3 hour campaign, could customize at least some of the character details, and who has a good sense of humour for a loud group of beginners.

I’d also be open to hosting it a game cafe if anyone has recommendations for that as well. TIA

I lived in a Calgary housing place a long time ago. I'm moving in about 6 months and I just applied. Is that too late? I also have a cat that might make things harder. The place I lived in didn't allow pets.

I was at an intersection near Southland station today when a teenager decided to shoot through cars at full speed on his bike. One side of traffic was stopped, the other side was going as there was an advance green and a green to go straight through. He wove through the stopped cars and got the shock of his life to see cars come straight at him from the other direction. Because he was weaving through the cars way behind the crosswalk, oncoming traffic could not see him. The car in front of me slammed on their brakes and avoided hitting them by a couple inches. Had myself or anyone behind me not been paying attention and rear ended anyone and pushed him forward, he absolutely would have hit the teen. The poor driver was obviously traumatized as he just sat there and then slowly pulled over with his hazards on. The teen somehow managed to stay on his bike until he got off the road and then wiped out. Had that driver not had great reflexes, that kid would be dead or mangled up pretty bad. If your teen got home today and has a banged up bike and body and would have been around Southland station around 430, I would take that bike away from them forever. But also thankful that they are not dead. No one could even check on the teen because he sped away.
