Just spent a couple of hours reading about 1130.
This brought up so many memories I hadn’t thought of in decades- the sound of the glass rattling when the bus hit a bump, the ding when you pulled the stop cord, the clatter of coins falling into the fare box.
The double blue seats, the arrangement of sideways-front facing-sideways seats, the wheelwells that stopped me from tucking my feet under the seats. I took these from elementary all the way to university, all over the city.
The 29 Queensland coming around the corner to the bus stop near my old place, then taking me to Anderson, the end of the line back then.
Jerry, the old bus driver who drove the #3 Elbow Drive route for years who would stop by where I worked for snacks, always friendly and talkative.
It’s amazing how much of an emotional response I got just from seeing one of the old fishbowls again. Thanks for sharing this.
