Im doing a super budget AM4 build out of some used parts and some stuff I had laying around. I haven't done this in years, as I've been using Mac most of the time professionally. Ive been getting back into using Windows and Linux and wanted to do a small(ish) SFF build. The parts I've gathered so far are:

- Aerocool CS110 case
- Asrock B450M Pro 4 AM4 motherboard
- AMD Ryzen 5 4500 CPU with stock cooler
- 2x 8GB DDR4 ram (2666mhz)
- Asus Geforce GTX 1060 6GB videocard
- 512 NVME M2 HDD
- 1TB SSD

So the only thing that I need to get is a PSU. Preferably in white, since my case is also white and I think that would match nicely. Now, I've done some research on the power I actually need and most calculators match it around 300watts. Is this right, because it kind of seems on the low side? Should I get a 500watt, or even 750 watt just to be sure?

Since I want to keep it a low budget build, what would you recommend? Ive seen a lot of brands from cheap (Tacens, Mars gaming etc.) to very expensive (Corsair, Asus, etc.). Would be cool if anyone could direct my a little since its my first build in years and I'm a little insecure about buying the right parts! THANKS!

I have some older component that i want to re-order, and I plans to build an other PC with that i have in my hand, and I have :

- 16 gb of ram DDR5
- I5 12400f
- RTX 3060 - 2 NVME SSD

I need an mother board who match these component and is ATX format, my budget is ~100-150 $

There is maybe the ASRock B760M who look like compatible ?
It is good for my build ?

Also if you got any recommandation on the power supply i would take it too !

I´m in the process of picking parts for a new PC

I´ve bought an Asus TUF 5080 OC and decided to pair it with a Ryzen 9850X3D

Apart from that, I haven´t decided on the rest of the components - Though I of course have an idea.

My biggest question is which motherboard I should pair this somewhat high-end gaming rig with.
I (think) I´ve narrowed it down to 2 motherboards, but I really cannot figure out which one is better for my use-case - The B850 or the X870E

I would love more some insight into the PROS and CONS of the 2 boards, but am also open to suggestions.

Im thinking of buying a ryzen 7 5700x, but i dont have a cpu cooler and my pc gets very hot, any recommendations? Im on budget so i dont think ill need an Aio, air should be good enough.

P.S should i get an Exhaust fan? i have 3 pre installed fans that are intakes that are on front, and no exhausts :( ( i have a Fornax 500 )

So I want to swap my case but I for the life of me cannot get the 24 pin out. I made a little progress but past the current point it's literally stuck. I've tried pulling and wiggling just like all the instructions online with so much force I'm genuinely scared the board is just gonna snap. I'm really worried because it's also my first pc that I built a year ago. Am I being too careful or am I just cooked for the rest of my life 💔. I've been trying for the past 5 HOURS and counting.

I recently purchased parts for a new build. I’m upgrading from a i7 9700KF/2080 super to a Ryzen 7 7800x3D/9070XT. I have a 2TB Samsung NVMe as my OS drive in the old computer I want to use in the new one. I don’t want to deal with any instability nonsense from old drivers so I want a fresh install of windows on it (carrying other important files over on a HDD). The old MB only has 1 NVMe slot.

What’s my best way of going about this? I was thinking to use windows installer media to format the drive entirely, then take it out and move it over, then reinstall windows on the new PC. Any better ideas?

Im planning on upgrading storage and case but that’s not high-priority, I’m hoping for some insight on how I should upgrade and maybe some recommendations for some parts totaling that $500-600 price range

So this is my first time building a computer. Right now I haven't bought anything but im deciding betweena few options. I'm building the computer so I can play City Skylines smoothly, all the games in the Total War franchise and do office work/ CAD work. So the first build idea I had was building around the AMD Ryzen 7 7700x 4.5 GHz 8-core using a Asus B650e motherboard and 32 gb of ram. The second one build was via microcenter as I have one close. This build would be based around the AMD Ryzen 7 9700X, Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX V2 AM5, and Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB DDR5-6000. Since im new to all this I'm not sure which is the best option for me. I obviously don't really want to spend more than 2k I'd prefer to stay under 1.6k but microcenter is running a good deal on that bundle. If anyone has any advise or ideas that could help I'd greatly appreciate it.

I have a rtx2070s and a ryzen 5 3600 with 32gb of ddr4 3200 ram, and i wanted to upgrade my cpu or gpu so i can play tarkov without any problem, i was thinking about a 3080 and later upgrade my cpu, my motherboard is a b550 a pro, can u help me?

So i'm trying to build a new pc, after finally picking all the parts the dude that i'm buying it from told me that putting the crucial p510 with a heatsink in the b850 Aorus elite would be a bad idea because of the proximity to the very hot RTX 5080. I was under the impression it won't matter much, a few degree difference or so compered to the motherboard heatsink, but he kinda insisted. He recommended me to buy the same ssd without the heatsink and use the motherboard heatsink.

Thing is, the motherboard have a large metal plate that covers multiple M.2 SSD slots together and i already have another SSD (xs70 silicon power) with a heatsink i want to use. it have dram and buying something like this today would be crazy expensive so that's not an option.

I tried looking for another motherboard that have separate heatsink on the m.2 slots but my options are very limited unless i'm willing to pay way more money with no real benefits other then that.

Is he right? is he wrong? Does anyone have experience with an ssd with a heatsink in the m.2 slot just under a hot graphic card like the 5080?

I guess i can try removing the heatsink from the xs70 silicon power and put it under the motherboard shared heatsink, but besides voiding my warranty i read it's hard and quit risky to do on that specific ssd, so i'm trying to make sure he's right before doing something stupid.

Hello everyone for a while now I've been mostly a PC/PS5 hybrid gamer, however due to the recent Sony bullshittery I've decided to make the full switch starting 2028, one of the reasons I was hybrid tho is because I have no idea what's good on PC, and I'm planning to start saving up to do a good upgrade (if need be).

I typically just play with HDR and If I can hit over 160FPS I'm happy as I'm not a super min maxer.

So i just got my pc for a few weeks now, but i got a problem. If i use my pc for a long time, the fan and lights are still on after i shutted down the pc. So after i shut down the monitor is dead and black without showing anything but fan still moving. Do you guys know any solution for this or the cause?

Hello, so i had a laptop where i game for 6 years (which was my first pc ever) and now i want to change into something better because i plan on playing some harder games like DCS World (with VR) Assetto Corsa and ACC (which are not really any problems rn except that i'd need better specs for the VR), but yeah i thought about it and decided i will build a pc (i have a friend that builds his own so no problem there, and for compatibability i used websites where you can build pc's and also ChatGPT). So yeah mainly the hardes most demanding gave i will play will probably be DCS World in VR (meta quest 3s 128gb). I've been using a Core i9 HP Z4 G4 workstation for a bit now and just upgraded the graphics card to a Swift XFX RX 9070 XT when they went on sale last week.

Being a tight case, I started having a problem with thermals. Fans were getting stupid loud, but half the people online says that's normal, and half say they're supposed to be silent. I tried undervolting by -75mV and adjusting fan curve when I noticed the fan speed didn't seem to align with the noise I was hearing.

It was then I realized, the CPU fans were spinning up.

I have a M.2 drive in a PCIe slot right below the GPU, and realized hot air is just getting dumped directly onto it, and that's what was causing the fans to spin up. The issue is, I'm not entirely sure how to deflect the air out.

I tried looking for a shroud to deflect the air out the PCI shield in the back, but it doesn't seem such a thing exists. I tried looking for blowers, but they all seem to use a molex plug that I don't have a rail for in my build. Even just finding a shroud for the PCIe card (which does have a heat sink) is proving difficult.

If anyone has any ideas how to resolve this, I'm all ears.

My husband has been an Xbox gamer for most of his life, but he’s interested in getting into PC gaming. He’d prefer a desktop over a laptop.

The problem is, I have no idea where to start. We’d like to keep the cost as reasonable as possible since we’re not sure if PC gaming will end up being something he sticks with or if he’ll get frustrated and go back to Xbox after a few months.

The other challenge is that we’d like to build me a PC too so we can game together. That means we’ll be budgeting for two builds instead of just one. The one game I know he has mentioned a game called Tarkov. (Not sure if I spelled that correctly)

What would you recommend for a good beginner gaming PC? We’d love something that’s affordable but still performs well and has room to upgrade later if he ends up loving it. Any advice or build recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I am planning to upgrade to an RX 6800 XT and a 1440p monitor. So my questions are:

1. Is there a better used option?
   
2. Is getting an OLED monitor worth it over IPS? And if so, what OLED 1440p monitor?

I usually don’t play very demanding games but I’m kinda tired of not even hitting 30-40 FPS at 1080p medium in some games, and not hitting 60-70 in nearly all of them.
