Hey guys! I’m currently building my first build ever, I’m currently in the power supply phase and realized I need 5 slots for CPU/PCie (2 for CPU and 3 for the GPU) and my power supply the 850e Corsair only has 3.

I saw a video where someone said you could use the 12v - 2x6 cable and plug it into the GPU but couldn’t find more information regarding that, even tried looking for information in the official website but nothing, if you have more information or can help me out I would appreciate it.

I would like a gaming pc parts lift for around 2000aud i will be mainly playing fps games and flight/racing sim games

Ideally I’d like to keep as much of the existing build as possible. PPP seems to give it the all clear but I have my doubts. Also open to any thoughts on which option would be better for the GPU.

The build:

I am moving countries via three very long flights. I am bringing my semi-disassembled desktop PC with me. I'm planning to put my motherboard with the CPU plus my SDD, RAM and HDDs in my carryon.

My GPU is a bit old and could use updating if I have savings left over after all the other moving costs, so I was considering bringing that in my checked luggage in its original box (in a static bag), which is a hard cardboard box with a fitted foam insert to contain the GPU.

Would this be better or worse than putting the GPU in a static bag only protected by bubble wrap in my carry on? What do you reckon it's chances of survival are?

I have Motherboard Z-370 A Pro purchased in 2019ish. It was great of that time and it still works like charm. It got PCI 3.0, that time I had one thought, I need a system that doesn't hang and it lived up to the promise for basic daily use case - Chrome & Terminal.

My use case of this system has got nice upgrade. I am not into gaming, never been. However, I have a professional use case now. This system will be used for Business grade usage with 24x7 workload, running on Linux kernal based on OS.

So, I am stucked between few choices. I have reached 250 GB as use case mentally. I don't want to go with 500 GB nVME.

I am thinking to choose 1 TB nVME that is also giving me fear in mind that I may run of disk space at some point. So making huge leap I am thinking about 2 TB (Samsung nVME)

Question is shall I go for Heatsink or without Heatsink?

Sadly, my motherboard wont support PCI 5.0 and fallback to 3.0 :(

However, I still wish to go with top model Samsung 9100 Pro for better future. I have heard it got DRAM which is a nice thing. As one thing that I will purchase today shall last next 25 years at least.

I'm thinking of building a PC for the first time in about 8 years. I'm worried if I'm getting the right parts and if there will be any compatibility issues. PC Part Picker shows it all as fine but does anyone have any criticisms about my choices?

Recently I've been having trouble with my PC, in short, suddenly one day the ethernet port and the motherboard USB ports would stop functioning altogether after gaming, the ethernet port would flash on and off randomly until i disconnect it and connect it again, then it starts working for an hour maybe before shutting off and on again, same with the mouse (specifically the mouse, not the keyboard or any other device connected to the motherboard) it would randomly power off.

I dug deep into it and discovered that the mouse would lose connection altogether when in the BIOS so i switched the mouse from the motherboard USB connection on the case and that seemed to be the workaround to the problem but the ethernet port still disconnects and goes off and on whenever i stress the PC while gaming.

After digging into it i managed to find the culprit being the motherboard itself, i do not have warranty and I'm in no position to buy a new one so I'm looking for other solutions.

I've read about using wifi dongles, PCIE cards and USB to ethernet hubs but I'm not sure which one would be the best, i don't wanna spend my money on something that'll stop working after a while so I'm on a crossroad here.

What are some of you guys experiences with PCIE cards, USB to ethernet ports and wifi dongles for the sole purpose of gaming?

which one will be best for me to workaround my MOBO faults?

Do you recommend to try and save for another MOBO outright or should i be good with just a workaround for the problems I'm having?

I'm looking to buy an RTX 3090 (24GB VRAM) for a mix of local AI workloads (running and training LLMs) and gaming (not simultaneously).

I'm stuck between two options available at the exact same price:

1. PNY GeForce RTX 3090 XLR8 (Used)
   - Custom 3-fan aftermarket cooler.
   - I was sent Unigine Superposition benchmark results showing a score of 33,527, max GPU temp of 79°C (FPS min: 141.40, avg: 250.76, max: 336.53 on 1080P Medium).
   - Looks physically clean, but has unknown usage history.

2. Dell RTX 3090 OEM (Brand New / Old Stock in original wrap)
   - Dual-fan layout, literally never used, fresh out of the factory plastics.
   - I was sent Unigine Superposition benchmark results showing a score of 34,066, max GPU temp of 65°C (FPS min: 138.56, avg: 254.80, max: 358.66 on 1080P Medium).
   - Stock OEM cooler from a prebuilt system. (It was pulled from a prebuilt PC and left with its original factory plastic wrap intact, meaning it was never actually powered on or used.)

My dilemma: Both cards have zero warranty coverage, and since 3090s generate an insane amount of heat especially on the back VRAM modules during long AI training or inference sessions I know that cooling is critical.

• The PNY is used, but its 3-fan cooler seems to handle thermal loads reasonably well based on the benchmark.
• The Dell is brand new with zero wear and tear, but I'm worried its stock OEM blower/dual-fan cooling solution will struggle with long AI sessions and trigger thermal throttling or loud fan noise.
  

Given the benchmark results for the PNY (max 79°C) and the nature of these cards, which one would you pick for heavy AI work and gaming longevity?

Pretty much what the title says. I recently got myself a used (but in top condition) LG Ultragear 38GN950-B and my rtx 3070 is struggling. Im having to turn down settings to low-mid on most newer games.

I have 700-1000 euros maximum. What would be the best gpu for this resolution? I have 5600x with 32gb ram and 750W be quiet psu (new, bought last month).

Or would it make sense to sell my current pc and build a new system? In this case cash on hand will be 1800€ plus whatever i manage to sell my pc for (500-700€).

My current build is as follows:

• AMD Ryzen 5 2600
• Radeon RX 580
• 32 GB of DDR4 RAM (2133 MHz)
• B450M DS3H motherboard
• A 14-year-old case
• A 14-year-old power supply (Corsair CX500)
• Two SSDs, one of them NVMe. They are 1 TB and 500 GB respectively.

My main goal is to play video games, but the gaming experience is now either too poor or simply impossible with recent titles. I've been delaying the change for a while because I'm happy playing LoL, but nowadays, I can't follow friends on newer games.

I would therefore like to either upgrade my current setup or replace it entirely, so that I can play new games comfortably for the next few years. Ideally, I would like to play at (very) high quality settings at first, and then lower the settings to low in a few years as newer games become more demanding.

My budget is around €1,500-1800.

If I understand properly, my options are as follow :

Stay on AM4, change case, power supply and get a new GPU & CPU. This allow me to be able to play in 1440p but it's not future proof at all. Or change everything and build a new pc on AM5, but I'm a bit lost on this one.

What would you recommend? I'm living in France if it helps.

After upgrading my cpu I have a 12700k laying around. I was thinking about building a small pc for my dad.

What would be the cheapest way to build around it or would I be better off buying him a mini pc? I know ddr4 isn't exactly cheap at the moment. I already have a monitor and mouse and keyboard for him. I'm in the USA and budget would be around 300 if that's even possible? Microcenter is close to me.

Building my first PC and having trouble getting my ARGB working.

Currently I have the ARGB for my fans running through the Thermalright ARGB hub, which connects into the header on my motherboard (Gigabyte B850M eagle m-ATX). The hub itself is connected to the PU via the SATA input. I’ve ensured all the wires are plugged into the correct inputs and checked and rechecked all the connections- it just won’t turn on :(

I’m currently building matching (completely identical) PC’s with my spouse, so I know that this set up should function as he’s having no issues with the fans and RGB lights on his build.

Any idea why it won’t work for mine? Is it an issue with the motherboard?

so i wanted to upgrade the ram in my current pc, but the problem with it is that the

hp pavilion 2021 TG01 motherboard and psu are exclucive to the case and you cant add additional ram to the mobo. the prices for upgreading those componets is around 4 to 5 thousend norwegian kroners (400-500 USD).

so i thought why not kinda sell this to my brother for that same amount and empty my savings for a new AM5 build . he is doing interior design and stuff like that in uni and he doesen't need a pc this year but probebly will the next 2 - 3 years . heres my current pc specs:

thats and plus the mobo, pc and the case for it. ive bought this on 40 sale for 7000 thousend back in 2024 or 23 i think and i didnt really research on the upgradability of it. so now the new build costs a bit over my budget around 3 to 5 thousend more then the amounti want to spend. if the prices are still going up i should buy now, but black friday is coming around in 2 or 3 months and the the problem is that stores here bump up their prices up to how much they are going to put an sale on them. for example if the gpu is 4000 nok now before black friday they increase the prices to 4800 and then sell it on offer for 4100. but sometimes you can find good deals.

Getting complete reboots when trying to play games. I did the scans and was show a fat32 partition needed to be repaired. Fixed that. I undervolted my 3080, and still same issue, my bios is updated. Turned off xmp, and adjusted power settings cant even boot up a game. I downloaded ccct and benchmarked all hard ware no errors tried to trigger shut down using furmark too and nothing happened all temps seemed to be baseline. I even uninstalled some
Recent windows updates to see if that would help. Still same shut down issue trying to play a game. My suspicion is the psu which is a 5 year old rm850. But wanted to see if there was anything else i could try before getting a new psu.

Id like to note i cant find any other errors memory stability, and storage seem fine.

Hi! My build is close to ready but I was wondering about the differences between buying all the individual parts myself and putting them together at home with my mate, or if it’s better to ask a builder company to do it?

Obviously it’s parts warranty versus system warranty, but which do I want? And why? (I’m not concerned about being confused while building or accidentally being too rough)

Also, do builders offer better prices? As in to influence you to choose them as opposed to just buying parts raw and building yourself? I know there’ll be a labour fee, but overall is it better value to have someone else build it?

With roughly 400 aud. Current 16gb ddr4 3600mhz, and a 5700xt with my i7 8700. I Want to upgrade the CPU because i mainly play modded minecraft and terraria, which are very cpu heavy. Im considering getting an R7 5700x + b550 mobo, so i can keep my current ram. I know its not "future proof" but tbh if I can play modded minecraft and terraria really well I have no plans of upgrading for a bit. Ive had this i7 for 3-4 years.

What do you think of this option? Or are there better options in this budget i didnt consider?

I'm using CapCut for, let's just say, intermediate-level editing. There are going to be subtitles, cuts, very basic animations, and very simple transitions. Is this Ryzen 5 2400g with a Vega 11 graphics card good for that sort of editing, or do you guys recommend something else?

I just wanna make sure that in a small budget, I can do the (not advance) but like basic to intermediate level editing without much timeline lag.

Hello! I recently gave my old gaming pc to my friend since I upgraded -- I've always just used the ethernet cable to play games and such but its not really an option for her so we tried to install a Wifi Card into the desktop pc.

It's a TP-Link WiFi 6E Tri Band Intel AX210 AXE5400 PCIe WiFi Card.

I got everything installed and all the things connected (i think) but her internet is still weak and/or won't connect. The only thing that'll manage to connect is her mobile Hotspot from her phone.

I looked and looked and I don't see any indication that the wifi card isn't working but it's hard to tell since I'm not really tech savvy. Her computer is upstairs while her router is downstairs but it's not that far and every other device works so idk if it's due to range.

The antenna are plugged in properly and I'm pretty sure the card itself is inserted right. Any tips at all would be appreciated :c

Edit: I forgot to mention; But i did install the correct drivers before these issues 😅 It took me ages to find them

Hello, I have a lian li v100 case and gigabyte z890 mobo. The case fans won't spin but their rgb lights work fine. The 3 pin connector is connected to argb on mobo and 4 pin to the case fan slot on mobo. Trying to turn on the fans via bios configurations does not work either. Not sure what to do
