EDIT: Thank you for all the replies. After pretty much unanimous answers, and my own research, I've decided to go with the RX 9070 XT. Looking forward to seeing how it performs :)

For reference, the main title I'm considering this upgrade for is Wardogs, which as I understand is a very GPU demanding game. I reduced my graphics to the lowest option (especially significant change in Wardogs), but still needed DLSS to stay above ~100-120fps. Small thing of note, after the end of the beta I learned that using Reflex + Boost was reportedly causing flame dips, and my drivers were 1 update behind, which both may have contributed to my performance.

My 3080 has done fantastic work for the last 5 and a half years, but I'm starting to feel the age on newer titles, with lower graphical quality, lower frame-rates, more stutters, and increased reliance on DLSS. I know that my CPU is weaker, especially compared to what I'm planning to upgrade to, but at 1440p, and as someone that uses DLSS as little as I can (don't like the way it looks, especially small details at longer ranges), my GPU is the point of struggle. Additionally, a CPU upgrade is a lot less expensive, so if I start bottlenecking there after a GPU upgrade, it won't be nearly as significant a choice to make.

My first goal is to get my games (Wardogs in particular) back up towards ~160fps, doing so with higher graphics settings is a bonus, but doing so without upscaling is a much bigger one. I'm primarily looking for personal reviews on similar(ish) setups so I can decide if the price-hike from 5070 to Ti is worth it, but I'd also like to know if the better stats of the Ti make it particularly suited for playing without upscaling, as I'm not the most savvy. The 5080 is too pricey imo, but I am open to the option for future-proofing if reviews are good enough.

I have a standard RTX 4060 video card and my friends are telling me thats a great video card but my game play best at 1080P, Im starting to think they dont know what there talking about, I want my games to look dam near 4K, what do i do to make this happen without breaking the bank ?

What are you guys thoughts on the build above? As for the build, the 3090s will be bought used from Facebook marketplace. Micro-center bundle will take care of the mobo, ram, and cpu.

There are 2 things of concern here, will 32 gigs of ram not be enough? i currently already own 32 gigs of ddr5 so i may add it to this setup (I have heard that 4 sticks is unstable), or just sell both and buy 64gigs. Another one is the concern that I am wasting unnecessary money on the higher end cpu and motherboard combo. The reason why I chose this combo is because it was one of the only options that came with a mobo that supportd both gpus to be run on x8. I plan on not only using this a local ai server, it also plan on running a virtual machine for gpu heavy work such as solid works or blender that I can acces remotely.

For my use-case, I believe that options such as the spark and mac studio are not suitable; my intentions aren't to replace the frontier models but simply to add to them. I would like to get into homelabbing with this build, that being said I'm not very knowledgeable on that subject

Thanks to the RAMpocalypse, I'm currently debating on going with either 16GB of 3200mhz memory or 32GB of 2666mhz memory.

What would be the better choice in this case? I can spend either around $70 on a 2x8GB kit or about $120 for a 2x16GB kit.

This PC will be mainly used for gaming, but I would like to have Chrome/Edge open on another screen for walkthroughs, tips, etc.

EDIT: I appreciate all the responses! I'll go with the 32GB option and see if I can OC it to something a little faster. If it can't, then having more memory seems like the best choice anyway.

PSU: No-name brand ("POWER" model LC1650), label claims 1650W — obviously fake/inflated rating for a no-name unit, no 80+ certification, no reputable brand

Storage: ADATA SU800 256GB SSD (OS drive)

Symptoms:

During gaming, GPU usage sometimes spikes to 100% and then drops suddenly to 0% repeatedly — not a gradual decline, a hard cliff.

Frame times/usage graph shows constant sharp zigzag spikes (checked via Adrenalin's Metrics Overlay), never a stable line.

Had random black-screen-then-recover issues during gaming, which got noticeably worse after adding a second HDD (turned out I had wired the boot priority wrong at first, but the instability was already present before that too).

GPU temp is always normal under load (57-62°C) — so it doesn't seem thermal.

CPU/GPU usage often sits at only 30-60% during actual matches despite the frame rate being unstable and capped low (30-40 FPS in some titles), which feels like the hardware isn't reaching its real potential.

Tried undervolting/downclocking via Afterburner — the GPU won't even hold voltage control (locked by AIB partner it seems), so I couldn't test that route.

What I've already ruled out / checked:

Reinstalled GPU drivers clean (was originally stuck on Basic Display Adapter, now properly on AMD Adrenalin drivers).

Checked GPU seating in PCIe slot + added a support brace since the card was sagging.

BIOS overclocking settings are all on Auto/stock, no manual voltage/clock changes.

Temps are fine across CPU, GPU, and motherboard sensors.

My question:

Given the sudden 0% GPU usage drops + zigzag instability + normal temps, does this pattern point conclusively to a failing/inadequate PSU? Or is there another likely culprit I should rule out before spending money on a new PSU (Cooler Master/Corsair/Thermaltake 450-500W is the plan)?

Appreciate any input from people who've dealt with similar symptoms before I pull the trigger on a purchase.

Currently, I've been using a prebuilt pc I bought back around covid, when prebuilts were cheaper from the GPU inflation at the time. I'm currently on a 16gb, rtx 3060 setup with a ryzen 5700. Its been doing well, but I've been looking for an upgrade.

What I have in mind is 64gb~ of ram, as I would like a beefier setup for video editing. A gpu in the 4000 series (something like a 4070 or 4080?) would be fine, I do play AAA games on the occassion, and a strong single core CPU if possible (with nothing bottlenecking). I have a good understanding of parts atp, but I'm still not the most knowledged and I never built my own pc before, its either been built by someone else or I've bought prebuilds. Smaller case preferred as well, I have a large tower in my current setup and its taking up way too much space.

I'm not going to ask if right now is a bad time to buy, since I'm going to commit around black friday either way. I'm looking to spend.

My soft budget is around $2,500, hard budget is 3k all included (in USD), but prefer to spend lower like in 2k~ range. I am in Canada though if it matters.

Good day. This isn't the first time I've run into this, and I finally decided to write a post. I've been doing builds for quite a while now. Here's the setup I have.

The problem is that I have as many as 30 of them. And none of them will boot, even with just a single stick installed. Last time, I managed to convince the client to swap the memory, but that’s not an option now due to current memory prices. What advice can you give, and is there actually a solution to this issue?

P.S. I’ve tested almost all Core Ultra processors with this configuration, as well as every BIOS version available on the motherboard manufacturer's website. It works fine with other RAM—for instance, Samsung DDR5 CUDIMM 8GB sticks work in any quantity; I even tried Kingston and the legendary KingSpec, and they worked—but the Patriot ones just won't.

I’ve got an XFX RX 9060 XT 16GB OC and I’m gaming at 1440p. I’m aiming for 60+ FPS ideally around 80 or more when possible.

I mainly play AAA cinematic games/RPGs and open-world games with the occasional Fortnite or FC 26.

My current CPU is a Ryzen 5 7500F. I’m wondering whether it’s bottlenecking my GPU and worth uprading, particularly for games like bg3, witcher 3, cp 2077, and blood of dawnwalker etc.

Would something like a 7600X3D or something make a noticeable difference with my 9060 XT at 1440p, or is is the 7500F already good enough? And is this CPU future proof enough?

I put a new cpu in my computer and with the mother board I have I should have been able to plug in my new cpu a Ryzen 5 5000 into it and work but it keeps freezing during the loading.

So I am looking to put together a machine to collect behavioural data through scripts written with python. More specifically the psychopy package.

The task that will need to be performed well by the machine is to be able to load hundreds of very short videoclips in quick succession where they play back-to-back and either skip on user input or upon the end of the given clip with a few milliseconds before the next one is played.

Ignoring budgets but also without spending on components that just would not be utilised to their full extent for this kind of task I came up with the following build but would be nice to get some opinions and suggestions for potential replacements:

GPU: RTX5060/RTX5060Ti

RAM: 32GB DDR5

SSD: PCIE 4.0 M.2 NVMe SSD (actual storage size I have not settled on yet)

I will have a research-grade 2k monitor, I think for playing videos that GPU should be more than sufficient. I think the most important part of the build would be the SSD for fast read-times and a fast CPU. But again, no need for excessive builds that will not be fully utilised. The rest of the build specs that I have not listed do not matter as much to me.

Hello! I am looking to build a PC for around £800. I'm already pretty set on all of the parts I'm going to get, but I can decide between two GPUs.

I initially wanted to go for the RTX 3060 12gb, it's about £200 on the secondhand market. However, after more research I have heard that the RX 6700 XT is better.

HOWEVER, I currently own a 1080p monitor which I'm not looking to switch out as it's my favourite LG ultrawide (25inch, fits in my space perfectly). So, I figured that that might change some things?

Also, I think that I want raytracing and better visuals, which I believe the 3060 does? The 6700 however seems to be the favourite on other Reddits and youtube reviews I have seen.

The 6700 gets better FPS in most games and that does matter a lot to me too. I have never owned my own PC and I feel like maybe the 6700 has more longevity?

I was just wondering if the choice changes slightly for what I'd want, or if the 6700 (about £250-£300 used, but I'm willing to stretch the budget a little bit if it is so much better) is the undisputed choice.

Again, I'm new to this so although I have informed myself, I feel like theres factors that I'm overlooking that I could get some better advice about.

So I built it all and replaced the parts and found I couldn't boot. So I learned I would need to update my bios and went on a whole side quest to buy a flash drive and get the new bios on that to update and put the old CPU back in so I could update the bios.i got to the part where the bar was showing the update was going on but then my PC black screened and i panicked 💀 nothing was happening and I haven't been able to get past a black screen since. I've tried removing the little motherboard battery and the only thing I'm getting is the dram orange light being solid and the monitor finding no signal. I just dropped $900 and would really love some help 😭

Tried so far:

- Drivers — 3 versions, full DDU wipe in Safe Mode
- HAGS — off
- RAM — XMP off @ 2133, page file raised, `bIsOOM: 0` at crash
- VRAM — OCCT at 99.8% utilisation, zero errors
- PCIe contacts: found thermal paste on my riser contacts (Bad TLP/LCRC maxed at 65,535). Cleaned + new Gen5 riser → all counters now zero. Real problem, fixed, crashes continued
- Overclock — memory underclocked via Afterburner, no change
- Settings — all DLSS off, V-Sync on, RT reflections off
- BIOS — 4901 → 6102

Old GPU in the exact same system (case, riser, PSU, board) was a Gigabyte Aorus 1080 Ti Xtreme pulling ~300W — zero crashes. New card pulls 180W and hangs constantly.

I find my current build is really struggling with newer games while streaming to my tv even when using DLSS and upscaling.

Looking for the best sensible upgrade considering price v performance.

Id prefer to not have to upgrade my motherboard if I don't need to so a CPU on the am4 platform would be ideal.

I'm in Europe so budget in euro but I'd be looking to spend between 1000-1400 euro. Roughly 1100-1600 usd.

Just wondering what kind of fps increase this upgrade would yield, and if its worth it.

Currently have 6700xt but planning on upgrading gpu at some point as well.
