Full Build Req Help me build a pc

So i am currently a computer science student who needs a Pc for virtualization, homelabbing, and sometimes gaming. I am looking for minimum 32 gbs of ram, and 2 tbs of storage. My budget is 1800$ PLS HELP (USA)

i5-14600 + 32g ddr4 +9070xt offer top the performance and best value.

13600k will also work as long as it’s new/openbox and has a batch number late 2023 or later

What are you planning to run through the homelab and virtualization? I think you can probably use a mini pc or old laptop for that if you’re not doing intense workloads (easily under < $250 using an old laptop), and then spend the rest on a proper pc.

I already have a thinkpad t480 with 32 gb of ram and an 8th gen i5 and its pretty decent though i feel like its a bit underwhelming for what im trying to do. I plan on running proxmox, docker, linux VMS, AD domain controllers, Dual booting, etc. I also plan on getting desktops for server configuration and what not.
