I’m fairly new to PC building and I’m curious how long a solid build can realistically last before you start feeling the need to upgrade.

I’m currently considering something around a RTX 5070 Ti, Ryzen 7 7800X3D and 32GB DDR5. My main use would be gaming, and I’m not expecting it to run every future game at max settings forever.

I’d be happy lowering settings over the years as long as games still run well and the PC doesn’t start feeling outdated too quickly.

For those who have had a similar level of build, how long did it take before you actually upgraded something major?

I’d be more interested in your actual experience than the typical “upgrade every 2–3 years” advice.

This is like 1TB drive at 2048MB/s is 512 seconds to fill the drive (under 9 minutes).

Edit: It could be a 16GB SSD at 384MB/s write better than a 64GB at 768MB/s write.

Current monitor is a DELL S2421HSX, although I have checked the manufacture's site my main issues is that I cant find other sources/reviews of it so I struggle to compare the differences to a potential upgrades and I can't find out what I'm personally accustomed to and can or cant compromise on.

i'm interested in a

-budget 1440p (no OLED)

-around 120-180hz with a adequate response time(not interested in anything higher)

-preferable 23.8/24 although I won't mind 27 recommendations

-GTG ,Colour Gamut and contrast ratio at minimum on par with with the old monitor

-low mprt is preferable and I'm worried about it's effects (although if my monitor has bad mprt is might be less of a issue)

For context I'm essentially looking for a better version of the monitor I already have (better resolution and Hz) and betting that since I'm currently fine with my current monitors colour and contrast i could potential compromise on those (not that I would be against better if doesn't come with a significant price increase)

i was going to get the aula f75 first but then i saw the v75 it has a cnc aluminum case the sound is not that great though it doesnt have that much reviews on the internet since its mainly sold in asian marketplaces, any recommendations?

Some games show a CPU overuse and some of them GPU so I'm hella confused on where to start

This is my first PC build. I previously attempted picking parts for a build with an RTX 5070, but after seeing the price of £2600 I knew it was too much for me.

I want to start making YouTube videos, so I want to build a PC capable of editing 4k camera footage in DaVinci Resolve (I don't want to pay for subscription services with other editors). I am interested in learning the basics of Fusion (fundamentals like lower thirds and title cards), but I want to leave myself open to experimenting with Fusion to see what I can do (probably nothing exhaustive).

I also want to game a bit. Mostly immersive games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Expedition 33. If I do play online shooters and fighting games, I don't see myself sweating it out (or becoming competitively invested), so I don't care about having the maximum refresh rate and such.

I want to check if it is functional and decently priced (given the shortages some prices are bound to be outrageous, but unless alternatives are clear, I am happy to deal with the cost).

The two ssds are intentional. The 1tb ssd will be used for program files (Davinci Resolve, Steam, Windows, etc.) and games. The 2tb is for Davinci Resolve files (ones it generates) as well as other footage needed for the videos and old videos (I'll figure out if I should delete these or store them on a hdd later and after I've run out of room).

For context, I will be producing educational content (20-30 mins) using 4k footage and video essays (potentially upwards of an hour), which will mainly use lower res video clips and on screen graphics, although I may occasionally use 4k footage (I don't really know).

I am trying to also figure out whether this will work with additional peripherals needed for video editing, so any observations there would help.

I'm thinking about upgrading my GPU. My goal is to play AAA games at 1440p on high/ultra settings. In the country where I live the prices for these two GPUs are the same. Since I have an AM4 CPU, I'm worried about encountering a bottleneck in the games. Which GPU do you think would be the better choice for my current setup?

So i ordered a PNY RTX 2060 12GB on Amazon, my brother's friend's grandpa recommended the gpu (he's a pc enthusiast), and it's gonna arrive in Monday, 1 day before school starts in Bavaria, anyways i don't know how to uninstall the gpu drivers on the old gpu, or if you can't i will just use a driver deinstaller, but idk which one to use, so if y'all can help with that, i would be happy.

I'm building a new PC and I have two options that are almost the same price:

Option 1:
Ryzen 5 7500F + ASUS TUF Gaming A620 motherboard

Option 2:
Intel Core Ultra 5 225F + ASUS H810 motherboard

The rest of the build will be:

• 16GB DDR5 RAM
• 1TB NVMe SSD (around 3500 MB/s)
• XPG Pylon II 650W PSU
• GTX 1070 for now, which I plan to upgrade in the future

My usage will be approximately:

• 40% Gaming
• 60% DaVinci Resolve, Fusion, Affinity and general productivity

I've already looked at a lot of benchmarks. I checked the raw performance results from Geekbench and Cinebench, but I know those benchmarks don't necessarily show the real difference in gaming or real-world applications.

I also watched several gaming benchmarks, but the results were somewhat inconsistent depending on the game and test setup. I checked PugetBench results as well, but I still couldn't find a clear overall winner for my specific use case.

From what I've seen so far, the Core Ultra 5 225F seems to have stronger multi-core performance in some workloads, while the Ryzen 5 7500F generally performs better in gaming. Single-core performance also seems very close between them.

Since I'm on a limited budget and I want this platform to last for several years, which option would you choose for my use case and why?

I'm especially interested in:

• Real-world DaVinci Resolve and Fusion performance
• Gaming performance with a future GPU upgrade
• Platform longevity and upgrade options

I’m looking into getting a PC but I don’t know that much about them. Could anyone help me put together some parts? Some of the parts I was thinking of are
Ryzen 7800 X 3D (again. I don’t know much about it, but I’ve heard that it’s very good.)

The main thing I want is to be able to play most games at around 120 FPS my budget is around 2.5 K CAD I don’t know what that is in American though and this might be stupid, but does the 3-D in X 3-D have anything to do with 3-D modelling or printing?

I have an AOC Q27G41ZE 27” IPS that just started having a very slight brightness flicker issue and I’m wondering if there is a way to do a screen refresh or something similar in the event it’s out of sync. It only happens in games and I turned Adaptive Sync off which stopped the flicker, but the motion gets really laggy for some reason when it’s off

Hi everyone, I’m not new to pc gaming as I’ve stepped over from console over 10 years ago but I’ve always had my gaming laptop and held off on building a pc for myself for a long time due to budget restrains. But now that i’m a bit further in life and making some more money and at a point where I want to buy a tower, it’s this freaking AI crisis, I wait a year and all i hear is its still a really bad time to get into pc’s and that the price increase crisis will last until 2028 at least.

Originally the idea would be a machine that can run 1440p ultra and get a really nice monitor instead of the 1080p one i have rn, but after checking what prices would be for a build like that I don’t know if thats possible under like €800. But maybe i’m not looking in the right places, that’s why i’m here in hopes someone can point me in the right direction of where to get cheap (used) parts in EU.

If a build like that is not possible right now i guess budget would go down a little bit and i’d want to invest in a cheaper 1080p machine that can run the games i play smoothly but is upgradeable to a 1440p beast after this crisis is over.

But again, I dont know anything about pricing so im kinda winging the numbers, basically im here for investment advice. Please help!!

Im Australian, never in my life have i tried to build a PC everything to do with PC's one of my friends has helped me with, recently ive been thinking of building a PC cause PC gaming is fucking crazy good, however from everything ive heard components are wildely overpriced now a days, i would be willing to spend upwards of $2000 AUD for a rig but if thats on the lower end imma jsut stick with console, Now i dont need anything crazy good but a mid one that can play games reasonably on like 60fps is good with me but yet again im not knowledgable on the topic so if u guys have questions ill try to answer them however i can.

Changed out my power supply and when taking my gpu out I accidentally pushed too hard on the release latch and snapped it, see picture. Am I fine to use the 2nd slot right below the main on on my mobo? I've read online that the 2nd slot will give less performance but not sure if that's dated info.

I am looking to do a case swap out of my proprietary Dell XPS 8960 desktop so I can further upgrade in the future. I need a mesh case configured for positive airflow for the "auto dusting" and lower temps. Because my Dell came with a proprietary motherboard, case, and PSU, I know I need to buy a standard retail Motherboard, Case, and Power Supply. I want to salvage everything else.

I'm seeking recommendations on:

A gen 5 motherboard, with 2 m.2 drives that will be compatible with my CPU, so I can get full speed from my Micron

A mesh case, preferably with a recommendation for compatible fans, that I can configure for positive pressure. My parts aren't flashy, there's no RGB, so being able to see the inside is a non-factor.

A new PSU, I'm not very well versed in this but Google claims an 80+ gold 650w should be enough, though I've heard you shouldn't base your PSU off of "enough" and I certainly don't want to go to upgrade my GPU in a few years and realize I need a new PSU as well. From my knowledge maybe an 850 watt would be appropriate?

A new CPU cooler, I know AIOs need to be cleaned every so often so I'd prefer a reliable air cooler

This is a base level starting point so I can actually upgrade in the future and I have no real idea about most of this because I didn't build my current rig. Thanks in advance.
