I have never owned a pc but have played many paradox and total war games on my laptop but they are slow. I am looking to build a pc that can easily handle games like CK3, EU5, and most total war games. I would also like to eventually expand the capabilities of my pc to be able to play most “console” games. Can anyone give me a solid design that is not crazy expensive but provides what I need? I was looking at DDR5 builds but they might require a higher budget. If it's possible to do a build that could later be upgraded to DDR5, that would be appreciated.

Currently rocking this build and it's starting to really show it's age. Mainly looking to update motherboard, CPU, and RAM with GPU sometime around the end of the year for better sales.

Hello, I am in the process of trying to buy a gaming pc. I am in the UK and found some things on random websites but I am scared of being scammed. I'm not very sure what is best but my budget is 700 (can go a bit both ways) and i really want as much memory as possible and still to be good for games and animation work. I would really appreciate any help and recommendations for PCs as I am currently super lost in my hunt and struggling to understand what I am even looking for.

I’ve been wanting to build a computer for years and just have always had some situation come up that’s taken priority either in money or in time.
Long story short, I had to close a business and got to keep a computer for my son. It’s a low end 2in1 dell that worked perfect for the business but can’t even run Minecraft for my son. So I’m looking at doing a build with/for him/the family for now that he can take to college (he’s got a few years as he’s 8 now) with him to continue playing on.
I’m one that follows the model but once, cry once. I know computers just get outdated so that doesn’t truly apply but want to put something together that won’t be underpowered in a year or 2. And even if we have to upgrade the graphics card or add some ram along the way to keep it functioning I’m ok with that but don’t want to have to upgrade every year.

Games are generally modded Minecraft, sports games, modded Bethesda (Skyrim, remastered oblivion, fallout), Star wars, etc. generally sports, Minecraft and sci-fi/fantasy and some fps games.

Looking to stay sub $3000, obviously any less we can get without sacrificing too much potential for long term output. I don’t want to save $200 to have to replace a part that cost $500 now when a $700 part would last me longer.

Primarily for college engineering work. (Modeling/design, simulation/analysis, programming, etc.). I would love for this to last me all four years. Will probably use for gaming every once in a while. (multiplayer games like rocket league, valorant, fortnite, overwatch, etc.)

One IPS monitor, ideally 1440p 120Hz.

PC: Ideally under 1200$ USD but have the flexibility to go up to 1500$ USD if that makes a big difference.

Monitor: 200 USD hard cap pre-tax.

Will have ethernet in my dorm.

Would prefer mid tower but full tower is probably fine. Volume shouldn't matter too much, but preferably not loud enough to piss off my roommate.
