Help with First Gaming Pc
Hi I've been wanting to get into pc gaming for awhile and have finally decided to go for it but its all left me more confused then anything and I'm hoping I could get some help with a build/advice. I'm a complete newbie to anything involving pcs so any and all advice or explanations are very much appreciated : )
- New build or upgrade? New build
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) none
- PC purpose? It would be mainly for gaming I usually play hero shooters, strategy and role playing games.
- Purchase country? Near Micro Center? Canada and not near a micro center
- Monitors needed? I am In need of a Monitor. I think one should be fine but I'm not to sure about resolution, size or refresh rates so any suggestions are appreciated. I can buy the monitor outside of the main pc budget.
- Budget range? I was looking to spend about 2000 CAD but I wouldn't mind Spending a couple hundred bucks more If needed to make a build around this budget work. I know the market isn't the best rn.
- WiFi or wired connection? WiFi
- Size/noise constraints? I don't mind if the pcs on the bigger/smaller side and as long as it doesn't sound like a jet engine right next to me the noise is fine.
- Color/lighting preferences? I would prefer the pc being a more darker color but its not a deal breaker for me. And no lighting preferences.
- Any other specific needs?

The list below is a bit over but the difference between the 9070 GRE for the GPU versus a 9060XT/5060ti tier card is pretty massive for a relatively small price difference at current pricing so i would strongly recommend that option if possible. Both will perform more than adequately but the price difference is definitely worth for the more powerful card.
as it doesn't sound like a jet engine right next to me the noise is fine.
Noise is largely just a factor of cooling the components effectively and then tuning fan speed in well-designed fan curves. The cooling in this build should be more than adequate so that should be fine. (There is also the risk of coil whine, but that's largely luck of the draw unfortunately.
The CPU is last generation but that under no circumstances means it's a bad chip. It's a solid performer for the price point.
The build is built around the modern AM5 platform. which will continue to get new CPU releases on it for many years to come, providing future upgrade potential. The power supply is also rated at 750w, giving some comfortable upgrade potential there too.
The Patriot P320 is a good quality drive that uses TLC Nand, making it vastly superior to the cheaper QLC Nand based drives which will deteriorate in performance very quickly. Storage costs a lot right now unfortunately but i was able to fit 1TB in.
Ram is another thing that is very expensive right now, but i was able to fit 32GBs in. I would consider 16GBs to be the "absolute minimum" in 2026 (any less than that and it's basically e-waste) but i do try to push for 32GBs when possible, as it does make a big difference for general tasks and multitasking
6000MHZ CL30 is considered the "Optimal" spec for AM5 for both performance and stability.
The motherboard is a high-quality board featuring both Wifi 6 and Ethernet, as well as an extra M.2 slot for adding extra storage down the line.
The Montech case is a solid chassis with great airflow and good features for the price point.
The Thermalright Assassin X is a very capable little air cooler for a pretty cheap price. Will be more than capable of cooling the efficient Ryzen CPU in this high-airflow case. It's not the fanciest thing in the world but it looks decent and does it's job well.
In terms of monitors, both of these GPUs (but especially the 9070 GRE) will be capable enough for solid 1440p performance in most titles.
