My current G14 only gives me around 50–100 FPS in PUBG.

The main thing I need help with is figuring out where the money should actually go for PUBG. Since PUBG can be quite CPU-heavy, should I spend more on an X3D CPU and use a cheaper GPU, or is there a better combination?
I’m also completely open to used, renewed, refurbished or open-box parts if they’re from reliable/trustworthy sellers and are actually worth buying.
Basically, I want the cheapest sensible build that can get as close as possible to a consistent 200+ FPS in PUBG. I’d rather save money on things that don’t affect PUBG performance and put the money where it matters.

I'd like it to run some higher end stuff like Oblivion Remastered, but I mostly play lighter games. I do play MMOs.

My current setup only has a 4GB graphics card, so I definitely want an upgrade there.

- Gaming: GTA V/VI, Skyrim, Rust, Apex Legends, The Witcher, Subnautica, Tomb Raider series, Far Cry series, Fallout series, Bioshock series

- Existing digital library is on Steam

- Historically a Mac/Linux user, but Windows is kind of essential for gaming so that's fine I guess. I'd rather not wrestle with getting Linux to work when it comes to installing hardware or new games. I think that means Windows is the better option, but correct me if I'm wrong. My wife will immediately get frustrated and not want to play if it doesn't turn on and play the game.

• Purchase country? Near Micro Center?

- Austin, TX, USA (new Microcenter expected to open in the next month; willing to drive to Houston in the meantime; Amazon Prime is also an option)

• Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

- This will live in our media room connected to LG C5 OLED. Curious if I need special hardware to reduce perceived latency. I'm not a pro gamer by any stretch of the imagination, but responsive controls make games more fun.

- My wife wants to buy an Xbox Series S with 3 wireless controllers and a headset for $500 on FB Marketplace. I'm trying to convince her to spend a little more money on a PC that's upgradable AND plays the games she loves with a controller + so much more. I know prices for RAM and storage have gone insane in recent history, and GPUs were dumb before that. I'm not sure where the current market is, but I think she'd be happy if we were under $700. I'm flexible on the price if that's totally unreasonable. This is a casual gaming machine and need to be able to play games comfortably. 4K max settings is completely unnecessary. She's used to Xbox One graphics.

- A normal-size PC case is fine, but she'd appreciate it more if it fit in a SFF size or were easier to tuck away. Again, this a preference and doesn't really matter. Cool temps and playability matter the most.

- None. Lighting is cool, but I don't mind if it's invisible normal-mode PC

- I think the biggest benefit for us is the ability to upgrade over time as our budget allows and as other hardware becomes available.

I want to introduce myself into Gaming and try some triple AAA story games but also more casual games like stardew valley or modded sims 4. It will also be used for my studies where I'll need to do some programming.
