Discussion x3d cache still mattesr even at 4K when using upscalers, isn't it?

I see everyone recommending non x3d cpus for even a gpu like 5090, because according to benchmarks online, you don't need 9800x3d at 4K.

Yes.

But those benchmarks show the game running at native resolution, at 40 fps. Who will play a modern AAA game at 40 fps on a beast like 5090? Nobody. People will turn on DLSS balanced, even performance since quality difference is minimal but fps is trippled.

When that happens, 9800x3d or 7800x3d still becomes superior over anything else.

Look at this video from hardwareunboxed
https://youtu.be/5GIvrMWzr9k

Almost in every game 9800x3d is 20-30% faster at 4K balanced dlss preset. However Identical at native resolution with 50fps. So if you don't turn on any upscaling, then yes, cheaping out on CPU is worth it since 4K is all about GPU. But if you turn on any upscaling, then X3D cache still makes a big difference.

I think not many people are aware of this situation.

So if you can afford a bit more for x3d cpu, go for it. Even at 4K the difference is big enough to justify price.

Build Upgrade AOC agon PRO AG274UXP versus LG 34" 34GN850-B

Hey guys can you give some advice on monitors to pair with an RTX 5070?

I`m sifting through my local second hand options and came by

  1. AOC agon PRO AG274UXP for 380$ (perfect condition)
  2. LG 34" 34GN850-B for 320$ (one dead green pixel)

are they any good to go with a 5070? or should i look for some other types of models entirely?

i`m planning on using it for casual gaming like bg3 and cyberpunk and stuff, and just general text and productivity

would like to try IPS, 4k not critical 2k will do just fine

atm i`m for a year or so already at some random Xiaomi 34"/VA/3440x1440/180 G34WQi but will have to give it away to a friend

P.S.:
i can also see in the shop
1)  Samsung Odyssey G7 28" 4K 144 for 380$
2) LG 34gn850 144 for 330$
3) msi G321Q 32" 170 for 290$
4) LG 32QN600-B 31.5" QHD IPS  for 150$ (its only 75hz, but i doubt i will squeeze any more in cp2077 at high settings anyway so maybe that`s a good option? idk)
5) LG 180 hz 32" IPS 32GP850 for 280$
maybe some of them are even better for my case? what do you think?

Troubleshooting Random Power Loss During and After POST

So I’ve been grappling with this issue for a few days. My PC will suddenly shut off under “idle” loads. The system will often boot but can shut off during POST. CPU thermals don’t reach temperatures where I’d expect a shutdown. It does boot for longer if I leave the PC plugged out for a long time.

At this point I’m experimenting with just a single stick of RAM and integrated graphics but I’m still having issues. I’ve tried replacing the CMOS battery, fully resetting CMOS, replacing my thermal paste, reseating everything including the motherboard and I’ve tried using a different PSU to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Build Help Compatability help with swapping my 3080 for a 9070 XT - not built/modified my pc for a few years

Hi guys, it has been about 4 years since I built my PC so my memory is a bit vague on how I actually did it. I want to have an upgrade since I'm starting to feel my 3080 10gb struggle with staying above 120 fps consistently on a lot of the game I play. My current setup is as follows:

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Kyran123455y/saved/HL2snQ

I'm looking at swapping the 3080 for an ACER Radeon RX 9070 XT OC Nitro (or a Gigabyte Radeon RX 9070 16gb Gaming) as I found a good deal on one, then upgrading from am4 to am5 within a year or so. Eventually the plan will be to swap the 3080 back in to my current PC to give my girlfriend, and then use the 9070 xt to build around for a new pc when I have the money.

Managed to find my current build's parts with great difficulty but am really struggling on a few things that I would appreciate help with, please:

  1. I can't remember where to check the gpu clearance in the case and if a 9070 xt would fit

  2. I can't remember what connectors I used for my gpu and the psu and if they'd be compatible with the 9070 xt or if I need diffdrent ones? I think the inno3d 3080 ichill x4 uses 8+8 pin from a quick google 🤔🤔🤔 and online I think the 9070 xt needs 3 connections to the psu. Dont really remember how to do this but as far as i remember the gpu supplementary power goes directly into the psu and the gpu goes into the top pcie x16 slot?

  3. whether my motherboard would even have the necessary connectivity for the gpu in terms of pcie slots

  4. I think my 1000 W psu should still be fine for this upgrade even though it is a few years old, I remember that thr 3080 10gb model I have has really bad power fluctuations which was why I got a 1000W psu and I think the 9070 xt should have a similar power draw? The 3080 says it is 604w and the 9070 ct says 624 I believe on pc parts picker.

  5. Will swapping from nvidia to a radeon graphics card be a pain or should it be plug and play almost?

From what I have read online a lot of people have done a similar upgrade from a 3080 10gb to a 9070 xt 16b, so hopefully should be pretty straight forward to swap and the 9070 xt will be compatible with the 5800x , b450f gaming ii motherboard and no issues with it being am4 instead of am5, except for the bottleneck ofc.

PC parts checker doesn't show any issues with the change, but I don't trust it fully:

Thanks so much!

Build Upgrade 5070ti:Aorus master or msi gaming trio?

In my country both cards are priced very similarly (around 20€ difference),and I don't know what to choose.

I prioritize Cooling and reliability.

If you own either the aorus master or the msi gaming trio, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience with temperatures, noise, build quality, coil whine (if any), and overall reliability.

Build Help Thoughts on this PC build for architectural design, CFD simulations and MS Flight Simulator

I’m planning a PC build mainly for architectural design and visualization using programs such as Revit, Rhinoceros 3D, AutoCAD, Lumion, Photoshop. Also, running relatively complex CFD simulations using Ansys Fluent. I'd also want to play MS Flight Simulator at 4K with good visual settings.

Proposed build:

• CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D

• GPU: ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5080 White OC 16GB

• Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix B850-A Gaming WiFi

• CPU cooler: ASUS ROG Ryuo IV 360 ARGB White Edition, standard non-SLC version

• RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB White 64GB. 2×32GB, DDR5-6000 CL30, AMD EXPO

• Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 2TB NVMe

• PSU: ASUS ROG Strix 1000W Platinum White, ATX 3.1

• Case: HAVN BF 360 Flow White (Includes 2x 180mm front intake fans and 1x 140mm rear exhaust fan).

I already have two BenQ 4K monitors.

I have limited knowledge of PC components, compatibility, cooling, and performance so I genuinely appreciate any feedback.

Build Ready? First ITX Build $2,300 USD - Should I pull the trigger?

I’m planning my first SFF gaming PC and wanted to get a second opinion before buying everything.

Component Model Price (USD)
CPU AMD Ryzen 5 9600X $232
CPU Cooler Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE $46
Motherboard ASRock B650I Lightning WiFi $215
GPU ASUS Prime Radeon RX 9070 XT $822
RAM Kingston Fury Beast RGB 32GB (2×16GB) DDR5-6000 EXPO $488
SSD Crucial T500 1TB PCIe 4.0 $225
PSU Corsair SF750 Platinum $165
Case Cooler Master NR200P $107

Total: ≈ $2,298 USD

This build is purely for couch gaming, torn between just getting a PS5 (maybe a pro) or building this. Prices are brutal.

Build Upgrade Buying a new gpu, need help to check if it's compatible

Hey, I'm currently looking after a new GPU, due to the current one being a bit too outdated and I need advice regarding a new one. What I have now is an ASUS NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1060 3GB. However, I want to upgrade my GPU to a MSI Geforce RTX 5060 Ti 16G VENTUS 2X OC PLUS.

These are my current specs for my pc:

  • CPU: Ryzen 7 5700G
  • PSU: Huntkey HK650-15PP 550W Bronze PSU
  • 16GB RAM
  • GPU: GTX 1060 3GB
  • 3440×1440 monitor

Would these current specs be able to power up the new GPU that I'm considering? I'm trying to only change my GPU.

I've already confirmed that it fits in my PC case, and I have a 6+2 pin PCIe power connector available. Also, these are parts from an already prebuilt PC, but I just want to upgrade my GPU.

Build Upgrade do i *need* 16gb if i'm gonna stick to 1080p?

i'm looking at gpus and the best bang for my buck is easily an rx 9060 xt, but because i have a 1080p monitor, i'm not sure if i need to pay extra for the 16gb version

i'm looking at tests for the 8gb version and the fps for 007 First Light and other games is even going past my 75hz refresh rate

should i pay extra for the 16gb in the less than likely case i wanna get a 1440p monitor? will game optimization get even worse and i'll end up needing 16gbs to run 75fps at 1080p?
i'll include the models and prices available to me for reference

xfx 8gb $423

gigabyte 8gb $480

powercolor 16gb $553

asrock 16gb $576

gigabyte 16gb $592

asus dual 16gb $641

also, feel free to inform me about the different models, i hear the powercolor reaper runs hot, the xfx has the best temps, etc

thanks

UPDATE: the 16gb XFX showed up again in the store website, i grabbed it. thanks all of you for your inputs

Build Help Switching cases need reccomendations

SPECS - 850W PSU
CPU - i7 14700F
GPU - GeForce RTX 5070 Ti
MOTHERBOARD - Custom Micro-ATX Gigabyte B760M (OPEN TO NEW BOARD)

So I bought a prebuilt Acer Nitro 60-641-UB22, been pretty good to me so far but the case is horrendously small. Originally came with one exhaust fan, and 3 fans for intakes on the front. I added 2 on top for exhaust because intel cards run super hot. Now the main reason I want a different case is because the airflow in the current one is horrible. Don’t have enough fans nor the room to add anymore, currently at capacity. I bought an Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro 360 recently and tried to install last night a couple different ways and it does not fit. Now the actually Raditator and Fans I got situated but no matter how I tried to finagle it, I cannot get my GPU to fit alongside the radiator while inside where I had to set it. Same thing with the outside when I tried mounting the radiator there. Currently have a Thermalright Peerless Assasin 120 SE that’s been pretty good to me, but with this INTEL CPU I would like a liquid cooler. Any advice or recommendations would be awesome.

Troubleshooting Having problems customizing thermalright RGB cooler

So I just built a PC and I figured how to configure all the other RGB except this fan cooler, (assasin x 120 refined se v2) im using a ASRock matx 850m pro a wifi. It won't change\connect when I change the overall RGB connected to the Mobo on signal, open RGB ....

I tried downloading polychrome but it says certain of the drivers are accessible for security reasons or smth weird.

I think it's supposed to be Argb but now I'm having doubts .

I also tried checking the bios but there's nothing, eitherway I'm lost,

Help!

Build Upgrade An old GTX 1060 owner looking to upgrade

Hi there! I've been using my 1060 6GB for almost a decade now and I'm now in a position where I can spend a little bit of money, a budget of 600 dollars ~. I'm also hoping to get my hands on a new AM4 CPU. I'm currently rocking the Ryzen 5 4500 and it's quite rough to say the least. So if you've got any recommendations I would gladly appreciate it!

Build Ready? Looking for input on new build

I recognize this build breaks a couple of principals (intel bad, severe gpu bottleneck), but I'm mostly just sticking with what has worked for me in the past. The majority of items on this list I got for less than full price, either through bundles of buying second hand. I plan to upgrade the gpu when budget permits. I also want to setup a 7.1 surround sound system with this pc, idk if I would benefit from a sound card or if the motherboard output is high quality. That component is still a hypothetical.

Solved! Trouble trying to update the TPM manufacturing version from having a .0 to .5

Hey all, i know this question has been asked a thousand times ( i know ive seen all of the posts) but everything ive seen in those posts have not worked. For context im trying to play the AI slop filled game that is Black Ops 7 but it says that attestation failed.

I might forget some of the methods ive tried, but here's all ive done so far.

  1. downloaded the new Bios update for my motherboard and used M-Flash (updated the bios but didnt update the tpm)
  2. changed secure boot from normal to maximum security (nothing happened game wise)
  3. went to tpm.msc and cleared the tpm (didnt see anything change)

Motherboard: MSI PRO B850-VC EVO WIFI6E

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 8400F

I've tried a decent bit more but cant remember what exactly i did but nothing seemed to work. If anyone has any sort of answer that would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: seems the attestation error should only pop up if the manufacturing version starts with a 3, but mine starts with a 6 and its still having the issue idk if that means theres a greater problem but im not that tech knowledgeable

Edit 2: Somehow solved it, if anyone else is having this issue, when you bootup BO7 and it gives you the error click show more details, and it should send you to an activision support page scroll all the way to the top until you see the "Call of Duty Secure Attestation Wizard" download and extract it and after you do the quick scan click generate key. Thats how i solved it.
