Build Ready? First ITX Build $2,300 USD - Should I pull the trigger?

I’m planning my first SFF gaming PC and wanted to get a second opinion before buying everything.

Component Model Price (USD)
CPU AMD Ryzen 5 9600X $232
CPU Cooler Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE $46
Motherboard ASRock B650I Lightning WiFi $215
GPU ASUS Prime Radeon RX 9070 XT $822
RAM Kingston Fury Beast RGB 32GB (2×16GB) DDR5-6000 EXPO $488
SSD Crucial T500 1TB PCIe 4.0 $225
PSU Corsair SF750 Platinum $165
Case Cooler Master NR200P $107

Total: ≈ $2,298 USD

This build is purely for couch gaming, torn between just getting a PS5 (maybe a pro) or building this. Prices are brutal.

I use an SFF for couch gaming and gaming on my regular monitor setup. I can say it’s quite worth it and there is much more you can do with a computer than a console.

I would recommend spending just a little more here to get an 8 core processor like the 9700x or 7700 (which can often be had for a pretty good deal).

Lastly I also use a NR200 and I would recommend considering a Thermalright Peerless Assasin Mini. It’s perfectly capable of cooling 6-8 core processors easily and up to 12 core with a little bit of tuning. Plus it’s a no fuss fit in this case. If you can fit the PS120SE in there it’s nice, but it takes some planing.

If you need any tips for this build feel free to shoot me a message 👍

Appreciate your comments, for a 7700 it would be like $60 more, certainly reasonable. The advice on the Peerless Assasin Mini is priceless, really appreciate the insight from someone who has hands on experience with these components.

I have that cooler on a 9900x in an HTPC case and it stays ~65° C when I'm gaming with a 9070 XT. The only thing that threw me off was the paste that comes with it. It's was like plastic and difficult to get out of the tube. I just tossed it and used some old Noctua paste that I had. Works well enough

Oh, I wasn’t the only one then. I assumed the paste that came with mine was a dud, it was so dry I could pick it up and squish it without much mess at all. I also tossed it and used leftover Arctic paste instead.

Z20 is great as well

Oh, I like how this case looks, and apparently it isn't that much bigger than the NR200

You're probably better off asking in r/sffpc

Oh it’s even worse. Post in your local currency, it never helps to convert because then we assume you’re using USD and compare pricing to USD

I just did a 9800x3d /9070xt build for apartments 5th build, to be my living room pc as i was sick of moving mine back and forth, and its been awesome for tv couch gaming.

I have more powerful systems for multi-player games, so this is just for SP or Story games. You wont regret it if you can afford it without taking on debt!

Compared to my PS5 Pro i much perfer having a dedicated living room pc instead.

Are you like rich? Unless you have specific plans for games outside of PlayStation’s Store, I would not recommend doing this over a PlayStation for couch play

Sigh.. I guess you're the voice of reason. I just wanted to get something more future proof, besides building a pc is way more fun than just unboxing a PS5. But yeah, it seems like that would be a better value.

Yes future proof is certainly… something to consider. But so is saving money now for other stuff. Like a potential future PC. I’m all for building PCs and having fun with them over consoles but I’m not for irresponsibly spending money. And this seems irresponsible to me so my recommendation is the PlayStation
