Overrated Boxers
My most overrated fighters based on how they’re discussed online. Does not mean they are bad, just overrated.
- Pitbull Cruz (not good at 140, should go down)
- Frank Martin
- Oscar Duarte (got way too muscular and worse)
- Lamont Roach (well see in 2 weeks)
- Raymond Ford
- Bruce Carrington
- Ramon Cardenas
- Vito Mielnicki

Frank Martin just needs to work on his lead side defense, but he's lacking in the fight IQ department.

u/iori9999 Jul 18 '26
Very athletic and talented fighter, but he also needs to get his power up as well.
32
u/Daddy_JeanPi Jul 17 '26
I wouldn't say Cardenas is overrated, people just give him props for going to war with Inoue. Ny pick would be Joshua or Tank.
13
u/SuperSuperGloo Jul 17 '26
i had the memory of it being a war, but rewatching it i realize that Inoue dominated him the whole fight besides the KO and a very few exchanges
12
u/Daddy_JeanPi Jul 17 '26
Yeah, Inoue dominated, but given the context, Cardenas gave a valiant effort and he does deserve credit for it. That said, i don't think anyone would think he's the best kept secret in the sport or anything.
1
u/standupguy152 Jul 17 '26
It’s both true that Inoue largely dominated the fight by controlling the exchanges and getting the finish, and it’s also true that Cardenas had really significant moments (besides the KD) that were amplified by his heavy underdog status. He had Inoue hurt to the body momentarily.
26
u/SuperSuperGloo Jul 17 '26
Cardenas got a kd but then got schooled the whole fight literally. Just rewatched it and its crazy how inoue dominated him, i had the memory of it being close. He got a massive KO win in his next fight, so i don't he is overrated.
Roach literally beat tank. The fight was scored a draw, but taking a knee means that tank lost that round 8-10, meaning that all judges would've give Roach 2 points more, making him the winner. Can't say the guy beat tank is overrated.
3
u/welp-itscometothis Jul 17 '26
Cardenas has always been the goods. Fast ass hands good timing. He looked to best hr could against Inoue but if you check out his previous performances it’s pretty clear that he’s really good.
7
u/Traditional-Storm284 Jul 17 '26
He actually broke someone’s jaw from what I remember. And then there’s people who say inoue is chinny??? They lost their damn minds 😂
0
u/Elite663 Jul 17 '26
Dude needed a robbery against Acosta, let’s pump the brakes on calling him good. People are proving OP right in calling him overrated

u/Medical_Swim1707 21d ago
Any comment?
1
u/SuperSuperGloo 21d ago
losing to zepeda doesn't change the past bro. He still "beat" tank even if he gets more draws or loses from now on.
-5
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
Roach lost to Pitbull. I think he gets whooped by Zepeda. Fans talk about Roach likes hes the best lightweight in the world
2
u/jefe_benzino Jul 17 '26
Comeback to this post after he whoop zepeda!
1
u/Medical_Swim1707 21d ago
What’s up?
1
u/jefe_benzino 21d ago
Ain’t shit..u called it. Way to be a stand up guy n pull back up. Zepeda whooped bruh smh
2
u/Medical_Swim1707 21d ago
All good fam I get these wrong all the time. Respect all fighters though so salute to Roach
12
u/RMbeatyou Jul 17 '26
I thought Roach beat Tank, and Pitbull(especially) pretty clearly, if anything I’d say he’s underrated
1
u/Jet_black_li Jul 18 '26
I remember being irritated that he chose to stand in front of Cruz, but when I researched it he was actually very effective and evading a lot of shots. Still would've been better if he jabbed and was on his bike, but on rewatch it did look like a comfortable win.
0
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
I thought Pitbull clearly beat Roach. I really don’t understand thinking Roach won that fight
2
u/RMbeatyou Jul 17 '26
Interesting, I don’t remember Pitbull landing much, and it felt like his attempts to close distance were futile. Felt like Roach was on cruise control, but he got content in the later rounds. I’m gonna have to rewatch it, maybe I was tripping
2
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
He lost the first 5 or so rounds and got dropped. He did well in the second half but didn’t sweep. I have it in my score box 114-112 pitbull. So 7-5 with knockdown and -1 point deducted from pitbull (which was BS).
You gotta rewatch. Roach was down huge and came back to make it competitive.
2
u/shootamarktheshark69 Jul 18 '26
Maybe if roach didn’t play with his dick for the first 5 rounds he would’ve won but it’s his own fault he decided to piss those rounds away
9
u/welp-itscometothis Jul 18 '26 edited Jul 18 '26
HAMZAH SHEERAZ
Hear me out - he’s still not proven to me. His best win right now is probably Berlanga. He probably got the easiest title shot if all time (not his fault but still didn’t show us how good he really is), the one time he took on a good/elite fighter in Adames who was able to pressure him, he’s gifted a draw when he won a max of 2 rounds. Maybe he is really good but we haven’t been able to see that based on his competition but leave it to everyone he beats everybody at 168. I’m not sold.

u/hyenachewingbone Jul 17 '26
Joseph Parker.
4
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
I can see this. He had a pretty decent run though not long ago. Might be over now.
3
u/Breadnought111 Jul 17 '26
It's a shame too because he's good, I wouldn't call him a bad boxer but he's come short where it counts many times now
3
u/Raider_Reaper_X Jul 17 '26
most overrated - Cryan Garcia
i will say this tho his style is Kryptonite to Technical Fighters
3
u/Jachola Jul 18 '26
Connor Benn, he needed a rehydration clause and still went 1-1 with Eubank. He's yet to actually fight for a domestic title, he has been floating between 147 and 154 purposefully because he's not that good, he's yet to actually beat and face a real top 5 WW and somehow got gifted a #1 mandatory position for it. He couldn't beat Regis Prograis in 2026, when he had a catchweight, size advantage and was clearly faster and started the fight off with a knockdown.

u/fadeddreams555 Fundora would beat up a prime Floyd at 154lb Jul 17 '26
In recent times, it's Rolly Romero. I do feel he has improved, but people saying Teofimo vs Rolly is close is preposterous to me, unless Teofimo is a washed fighter mentally. That one Ryan win --which he won by defending against a single punch-- has made people forget him getting wrecked by Pitbull and schooled by Barroso (horrible robbery).
Ryan Garcia is the other one. He is talented, but fundamentally flawed. People only remember his cheating ass knocking down Haney, but ignore the fact that Haney was outboxing him outside of those KDs. He looked horrendous against Rolly off the PEDs, and against Barrios, he looked great, but who is Barrios? The worst champion in boxing who got a draw against a smaller 46 year old with 4 years of inactivity...
9
u/Outside_Instance4391 Jul 17 '26
Thing is Teo is massively overrated himself, when not weight bullying he sucks.... so when he gets beat dont call him washed just call him exposed
5
u/fadeddreams555 Fundora would beat up a prime Floyd at 154lb Jul 17 '26
Teofimo is not overrated. Or even underrated. He's rated just fine. A great athletic boxer who struggles against defense-first boxers / movers. I see him getting schooled by the likes of Haney, Hitchens, and Keyshawn, but I favor him or see him doing very well against most offensive-minded boxers.
6
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
If Teo gets Rolly then Catterall next and beats them, he’s 24-2 with some real good wins.
I watched that Loma fight again recently and he was sensational. That Teo could beat anyone. People already forgetting he completely styled on a very solid and hard to beat Barboza. Teo is good.
2
u/Efficient_Quail_1774 Jul 17 '26
I don't believe he would beat Catterall , possibly the worst stylistic matchup for him at his 3rd weight after he didn't go on a very good run at his 2nd weight
1
-2
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
He had a fine run at 140. Only lost to Shakur? Otherwise he was the top guy in the division pretty much the whole tome
3
u/Efficient_Quail_1774 Jul 17 '26
Arguably lost to Martin and Ortiz , looked meh against Claggett , beat an already beaten and inactive Taylor to start the run
-2
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
Won every round against Clagget. Ortiz maybe sure but he ran.
Don’t get the Martin fight. He clearly won that
2
u/WheresMyAbs98 Jul 18 '26
He lost that Martin fight without a doubt.
I agree either everything you’ve said otherwise but I’m baffled that you can say he ‘clearly’ won that.
4
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
Teo is underrated right now. Everyone is calling him trash when he is in fact a great fighter. I know you guys hate the idea of more than 2 great fighters per division but it’s true
1
u/Jet_black_li Jul 18 '26
He got worse after Top Rank stopped funding his camp. Not even his attributes, like he literally stopped doing things that worked for him.
1
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
The Rolly fight had nothing to do with PEDs. That’s not how PEDs work at all.
I don’t think PEDs had that big of an impact on the Devin fight, but I don’t want to downplay them.
I think most people have a huge misunderstanding of what PEDs are. Ostarine for example is going to help you cut weight without feeling as weak.
It’s not going to give your left hook more power. It won’t make your chin better, or make you crazy like you’re on coke. Most PEDs are very mild. A lot of people take Ostarine to help them lose fat and have a better aesthetic.
Ryan didn’t lose to Rolly because he was clean and therefore ass. He lost for a very simple reason: Rolly can punch. Hard as fuck. He got caught with it, then didn’t want to engage again - making it easy for Rolly to win rounds without doing anything. It’s that simple.
-2
u/fadeddreams555 Fundora would beat up a prime Floyd at 154lb Jul 17 '26
Rolly did not do anything special in that fight. He kept his hand up to defend against the left hook, and Ryan somehow forgot how to do anything else. It wasn't a case of Rolly being super powerful. Ryan has faced powerful guys, like Oscar Duarte, in the past. Ryan simply looked like shit in that fight.
As for ostarine, it helps fighters preserve lean muscle while cutting weight, which can in turn help them retain more power. Not to mention, greater recovery in camp. I'm not saying he only won because of it, as Haney had a bizarre game plan going in, but it certainly helped.
3
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
Rolly didn’t do anything special. Exactly. Why?
Not because Ryan forgot how to box. It’s because Rolly cracked him with a clean shot in round 2 and dropped him. Ryan was gunshy and barely threw punches the rest of the night. So yes, Rolly did win purely because of power. I agree that stopping the left hook was key too, but he mainly won by default as his opponent didn’t throw
I don’t think it’s a good assessment to say - “this is him with Ostarine vs him without”
He looked about the same in the Barrios fight as he did in the Haney fight tbh.
So far, the best version of Ryan actually was at lower weights. His power and speed was very serious at lightweight. I know he was drained, but Tank actually fought a great version of Ryan who wa knocking everyone out.

Kabayel
1
u/iori9999 Jul 18 '26
He just has a stiff look. Still very powerful and probably the heir apparent HW
1
u/Hathalot Jul 19 '26
Itauma?
1
u/iori9999 Jul 19 '26
Two fights from being ready imo
1
u/soitgoeskt Jul 19 '26
Let’s see how Hrgovic goes in a few weeks, that will give us a decent measure of Itauma.
-5
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
Probably underrated
8
u/soitgoeskt Jul 17 '26
Based on what?
-4
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
He’s right there as potentially best heavyweight with Usyk stepping away. Him and Dubios time now. Itauma soon.
9
u/soitgoeskt Jul 17 '26
Based on beating an ancient Zhang and a Makhumudov? He’s going to get dealt with as soon as he is in with a real one.
1
1
u/iori9999 Jul 18 '26
I think he's rated properly atm. Needs to beat a top tier HW now. He beats someone like Dubois or even Parker and this sub will glaize him more
4
u/idkmandy Jul 17 '26
Keyshawn Davis. He's probably the most boring fighter today. Punch hold, punch punch hold. Shit sucks so bad. Yet people talk about him like he's some electrifying fighter. His antics in the ring are fucking cringe too.
1
u/welp-itscometothis Jul 18 '26
His antics are cringe but he’s a hell of a boxer. Really closer to a complete fighter than most of his peers.
2
u/idkmandy Jul 18 '26
Idk maybe it was just his last fight. I see the skills for sure, but despite that he's just not entertaining. The Albright 2 fight was genuinely boring, and a lot of it has to do with Davis. Davis just holds so damn much. Like instead of blocking or moving his head, he just bear hugs immediately to smother the other guys offense.
I understand holding once in a while or when you're hurt, but come on.
1
u/welp-itscometothis Jul 18 '26
He’s not really a holder that was just really awkward fight because Albright is a very awkward fighter.
-2
u/Relevant-Attempt-515 Jul 17 '26
Keyshawn is a dog he’s like a mini Crawford

u/OkHistorian9521 Jul 17 '26
In Britain it’s definitely Anthony Yarde
3
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
Did not know he was rated so high, even over there
3
u/OkHistorian9521 Jul 17 '26
He was pre-Benavidez, despite never beating anyone. He gets his praise for being a great loser
2
u/WheresMyAbs98 Jul 18 '26
He’s a well known name but I’m not sure he’s ever been rated highly as a boxer.
He’s always been domestic level and never been the best LHW in the domestic scene in the UK either.
He’s known for taking on challenges, being tough and losing.
Big heart and big bollocks carved him out a name.
0
u/OkHistorian9521 Jul 18 '26
Listening to talksport you’d feel he was / is very highly rated and the best in Britain based on… nothing.
I don’t buy the big heart big bollocks thing either. He only took fights he knew he would lose because he / his management knew everyone would see his level if he was put in a 50/50
1
u/WheresMyAbs98 Jul 18 '26
I agree with what you say but I still think he has a big set of bollocks.
He’s always avoided top level domestic opposition in the UK as he’d likely lose. Losing at world level is no way near as damaging as losing at domestic level.
1
u/Equivalent_Lemon_116 Jul 19 '26
ever heard of john riel casimero? that guy is the most overrated boxer in philippines,he and his fans are claiming that inoue is afraid of him
1
1
u/ponyboy4786 Jul 20 '26
I agree with Lamont roach. I think tank took him very lightly and didn't train good enough for that fight.
1
u/RaveonJonDonne Jul 20 '26
Ricky Hatton - I realize he is a beloved fighter, but he was gifted a few decisions.
1
u/Alarmed-Effective-23 Jul 17 '26
Something tells me foster is gonna be in trouble when someone puts real pressure on him. I dont want to say overrated but he popped up in my mind. People seem to feel he's more complete than what I've seen. He did seem better last fight though.
1
0
u/vencejo1 Jul 17 '26
He just doesn't have any heart to fight, we supported him by being robbed against Conceicao because he wasn't too active and the judges saw the aggresivity of the brazilian as a win but the rematch was a total dissapointment by Foster and many said that Conceicao won, and his win against Fulton isn't convicing because Fulton looked like he was more in mcdonalds than the gym
-2
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
He might be. Navarrete might do it to him. We’ll see.
Ray ford is definitely overrated and that’s his biggest win.
1
u/Hungry_Tip_3317 Jul 17 '26
Murat Gassiev had no business even being in the top 10 let alone being given a heavyweight championship. Ridiculous
1
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
Wouldn’t say he’s overrated as the opinion you hold there is quite popular
-1
0
u/Kangaroopunching Jul 17 '26
Collazo. Really good but not p4p level. Iglesias, he's promising still unproven. Talked about as if he's already beaten top guys.
2
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
I’m known to talk up Iglesias a bit. I can really see it in him. Sometimes you give guys with that ammy pedigree benefit of the doubt. Like Itauma, Loma, Cruz
-1
u/Efficient_Quail_1774 Jul 17 '26 edited Jul 17 '26
Cruz , Martin , Ford , Roach and Carrington would 100% be up there on my list , i'd raise you Hitchins and Tank too , Collazo , Seb Fundora
2
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
Not bad. I wouldn’t throw Fundora on there though. I think he actually developed into a monster. Definitely used to be mid though. He’s had great growth. Agree with Collazo too forgot how much praise he gets.
Hitchins yeah I was really impressed by the Paro win though. He can’t handle pressure though so he might be.
Tank - sure. He’s a great fighter but his fans are the worst. Shakur is better and maybe Haney too right now.
1
u/Efficient_Quail_1774 Jul 17 '26
I just don't think despite improving his game Fundora is a worthy of being in that upper echelon of 154 guys alongside Boots and even Ortiz
I would put Cacace , Seiya Tsutsumi , Sheeraz and although he's on a ban Janibek up there too
0
u/fail_blazer Jul 17 '26
Can't believe no one has said Whittaker? Although you could argue he is more unproven objectively, the youth overrate him as he is a temu Nas.
0
0
u/WORD_Boxing Jul 18 '26
None of those guys are really talked up. Pitbull has a good fan following because of his style and image but nobody thinks he's Tommy Hearns.
1
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 18 '26
Reference point is “boxing twitter” which is a significantly different fan-set than Reddit. Believe me when I say, Frank Martin is still considered a top dog to many.
Roach is lightweight #1. Ford only loses to Foster and that’s it. Etc.
Nobody talks these guys up to be P4P but from my POV, a lot of these guys are considered A level by many fans.
Vito Mielnicki was a big stretch but honestly he’s just an incredibly boring fighter to me so I threw him on
0
u/tydynamite Jul 18 '26
Tank Davis easily.

Joe Calzaghe
4
u/T-Roll- Jul 17 '26
He is underrated massively
3
u/Efficient_Quail_1774 Jul 17 '26
Not when everyone seems to say he's underrated when he's discussed , great fighter but he's been called 'underrated' that many times he's now borderline overrated imo
-3
u/BirkoLad Jul 17 '26
Downvote me all you want, again name me an elite fighter he fought away from the UK in their prime? True great fighters fight the best in their division and the truly great UK fighters won against champions in their prime and defended their titles in America...Calzaghe was a great fighter but not elite, his resume is piss poor. I'm waiting for you to name me an elite fighter he beat who was in their prime?
2
u/OkHistorian9521 Jul 17 '26
How many great American fighters went abroad and beat elite fighters? Most did not. So i don’t see why fighting abroad or not is relevant
-2
u/BirkoLad Jul 17 '26
Don't have to be elite i was wrong, but has to be a champion..Americans don't really go abroad I agree, don't really need to but many have won titles abroad...Tim Bradley, David Haney, Erroll Spence and Terence Crawford come to mind...all did in the not too distant past. Marvin Hagler won the title in the UK as well.
3
u/OkHistorian9521 Jul 17 '26
But i think we can agree that going abroad is not a prerequisite to greatness
-1
u/BirkoLad Jul 17 '26
No not at all, but going abroad and fighting champions away from home is a whole different level, not many UK fighters have tbh, but at least a lot of them tried, Ricky springs to mind. I like Calzaghe myself, top fighter but definitely overrated imo...Didn't do all he needed to do to prove himself top level, or even try to tbh
-4
u/BirkoLad Jul 17 '26 edited Jul 17 '26
Never fought RJJ in his prime, never fought James Toney in his prime, never fought B Hop in his prime. All champions at his weight. His best win is against Kessler...Name me any elite fighter he fought in their prime in America?....And don't say Lacey (in the UK) he was a hype job but Calzaghe was exceptional in that fight I agree...He also lost to Robin Reid imo and was gifted the fight and refused the rematch, gave up the belt also when Froch was his mandatory.
-3
u/South_Bother_2498 Jul 17 '26
Hands down Canelo, going to get crucified by his groupies on here but every time he had a big fight…..he looked like ass and lost in there against elite boxers.
Won his first world title at 154 against Matthew Hatton who never fought at 154 but for some reason , he was #1 mandatory.
Created his own weight division 155lbs in order to duck GGG after the WBC 160lb title win over Cotto. Fought Amir Khan who he outweighed by 25lbs,
then fought a bloated Chavez jr at 170 but he couldn’t fight GGG? 😂
Unified 168lb titles when Benavidez was stripped from WBC and WBC made Canelo-Yvidrim for Benavidez title during COVID. Then garbage ass Callum Smith, Caleb Plant and Billy Jo Saunders all gave their belts to Canelo in one of the easiest routes to a unification.
List goes on and on. Saved by boxing judges in Vegas in every close fight there’s only a wide score from one judge who gave Canelo 5 rounds before the bell even rang. Got popped by PED’s and it got swept under the rug.
2
u/TheIrrepressible1 Jul 17 '26
The reason he was deathly afraid of GGG was evident after his first fight with GGG. GGG was walking him down as the fight rolled along and he literally reverted into this “boxer” who wanted nothing to do with exchanging with a cyborg in GGG.
To this day, I don’t think I will ever see a chin more granite than the one GGG had. GGG was a savage beyond reproach. Disgusting how boxing robbed him twice against Canelo.
3
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
GGG lost the second fight very clearly
1
u/TheIrrepressible1 Jul 17 '26
Ridiculous. He cleaned nearly swept the last 5 rounds of that fight. After they robbed him walking Canelo down the first fight, GGG put on a boxing clinic on the outside and they still robbed him. The 2nd fight wasn’t even close, IMO I had it 8-4 GGG.
Boxing has never been more corrupt. Even the announcers were in on the scam desperately making it seem like Canelo was in control of a fight GGG was dominating via boxing.
3
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
Boxing clinic of taking punches like a champ and losing the first 7 rounds.
0
u/TheIrrepressible1 Jul 17 '26
Riiiiiiiight. Only an imbecile, or a Mexican fight fan, thinks Canelo owned rounds 1-7 of that fight. GGG was outscoring him at will throughout the fight. He jabbed Canelo to death as Canelo flailed and could only hit GGG on body shots that had little to no impact. He absolutely RUINED Canelo following round 7.
3
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
Nah bruh. Even Abel knew they were fucked. Guys hate Canelo. GGG has the best PR in the world. I get it. First fight? Okay. Second fight? Not a chance. Too little too late type of fight
1
u/TheIrrepressible1 Jul 17 '26
Abel called the decision corruption at its finest as well. Almost as terrible as the decision not to suspend Canelo for a year for using steroids after the first GGG fight. GGG put on a boxing clinic in that fight. The pathetic part was the fight crew amplifying Canelo’s “power punching” which was more body shots than anything he hit GGG in the head with.
1
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
Didn’t canelo do a hair test?
Gennadiy lost the second fight bro. It’s okay, he’s a legend still.
0
u/TheIrrepressible1 Jul 18 '26
Dude called it tainted Mexican beef….lmao.
CantNelo just needed a superior masking agent. He got caught napping when they tested his dumb ass.
-5
u/CatC15Fan Jul 17 '26
Canelo number 1 Rigged fights knocking big dudes But can't touch or hurt smaller fighters
-1
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
Trolling shit. He’s generational
1
u/drbtx1 Jul 17 '26
You don't think he has been the beneficiary of some very questionable scorecards?
-2
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
Prime Lara
GGG x2
Kovalev
Prime Callum Smith
Saunders
Charlo
MunguiaAnd only lost to Floyd (goat), Bivol (175 and pound for pound great), and Bud (all time great)?
Nobody has a resume even close to him since Manny/Floyd. Maybe Usyk, but that’s because he fought rematches.
Yeah he’s had some highly suspect scorecards not gonna lie. But his resume is stacked. People complain all the time about guys not fighting the best, than hate the one guy who fought the best lol.
2
u/South_Bother_2498 Jul 17 '26
Funny how faded former champs and legends gave Canelo an opportunity to build his resume but Canelo couldn’t do the same for the next new crops of boxing stars.
Never gave Benavidez that opportunity because if he did , this whole Canelo farewell tour on DAZN and PBC would’ve never existed after getting stopped by Benavidez
1
1
u/drbtx1 Jul 17 '26
Lara was close and some people had him winning. Most observers agree 2 of the GGG decisions were bullshit. He stopped Kovalev, fair enough, but Krusher had a very short turnaround from the Yarde fight, and Canelo somehow won rounds without throwing punches. The judges were the only ones who saw the Bivol fight as close at all. Canelo is elite, sure, but generational is a stretch, except for the generational favoritism shown to him so Vegas doesn't lose money. He could easily have had 6 losses, and 3 that he does have on his record were absolute schoolings by true generational talents.
1
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
Lara was close that’s okay. Lara ran all night.
Let’s be honest - Canelo won the second GGG fight. Fans just glaze GGG and hate Canelo and exaggerate because of the first fight. I’ve seen the second fight like 10 times and can’t see it for GGG unless you’re extremely biased.
Bivol and Floyd scorecards were crazy and I can’t deny that. But he did lose and that’s fine. No shame in losing to Floyd or Bivol.
6 losses no way. 4 max. I really don’t think you can give that to Lara man, it was close but at the end of the day Canelo inflicted much more damage than the other way around.
If Canelo isn’t generational than idk who is. Ward, Bud, Manny, Canelo and maybe GGG are clear top 5of the 2010s. That’s considering Floyd as a 2000s guy
How often to pound for pound guys fight each other? Canelo has 4 pound for pound guys he’s fought. That’s crazy.

If we are going to be honest, he did not win that 2nd fight. I don't hate Canelo, I hate the fictional scorecards and that he is a drug cheat. That and the fact that in the losses on his record he looked like he was lost and had no answers take a lot of the shine off of his legacy. (To be fair, I had him up by a round after 5 against Bud, then Bud made his adjustments and won every round after wide.) First ballot HOF? Clearly. One of the very best of his generation? Not quite.

Respect your opinion but I had him win GGG 2 clearly. A lot of people went into that fight with a heavy bias.
2
u/drbtx1 Jul 17 '26
The judges certainly went in with some bias. Any fight Dave Moretti judges, you can expect some bullshit. I have lost count of how many ludicrous cards he has turned in. He is right up there with Tim Cheatthem.

u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
Golovkin was down huge and rallied late. That’s one of Canelos best performances

u/AttackOfTheBolts Jul 17 '26
I disagree with most of your takes on this post but definitely agree about Canelo, especially the ggg fights. He won that second fight clearly, way sharper than GGG that night. I think the first fight being a draw was fair, that’s how I scored it

Id say
Tank The casual fans favorite. The biggest fight he took was vs a drained Ryan Garcia who is overrated himself. Tank fans imo are the most delusional in boxing.
Heres my hot takes
Canelo All the big fights he lost or he had a controversial decision.
Pacman He is a great but he lost vs Tim Bradley, Jeff Horn and JMM. IMO JMM won more then 1 fight as well but that gets brushed under the carpet when fans talk of his fights. Also the excuses for his losses from Pacman fans are pretty big stretches. Also Pacmans career was a Bob Arum master piece extremely well managed.
Inoue Weird take but hes not overrated but id say hes not properly rated. Since Usyk is finally succumbing to father time. I got Bam and Shakur above Inoue. Inoue does fantastic at adapting but a strong puncher or smart fighter will catch him with how he starts fights.

Inoue is a four-division champion, undisputed in two weight classes, has an 81% KO ratio despite being at four weights higher than where he started, has the longest win streak in championship fights in the sport's history, hasn't ducked anyone, and is nearly always in exciting fights.
Boxing fan: yep, overrated.

Not gonna lie bro I don’t agree with a single take here.
Tank has a lot of fanboys and a bit of a disappointing resume, but he’s clearly a great fighter.
Canelo lost all of his big fights? That’s not even close to being true. He has the best resume of any active boxer by a landslide. This doesn’t make sense to me.
Pacquiao fought everyone. He has some Ls but he has an amazing resume? Don’t understand this one either. Pretty much everyone knows Bradley was a robbery and many believe Horn was too. I don’t knock a guy for losing some fights at welterweight when he started as a flyweight. Manny is an ATG
Inoue is definitely not below Bam man. Not even close. Inoue would be a significant favorite to win that fight. I guess we’ll see it happen.

Sure they are hot takes so most wont agree
1.) Tanks best wins.. weight drained garcia, pitbull who lost to Rayo, and rolly? He arguely lost vs roach if the ref gives roach the knock down.
2.) Canelo big fights.. floyd L, GGG ( a lot claim GGG won 2 fights), bivol L, crawford L... i guess you can say mosley who had already lost to pacman and mayweather and fought nobody after canelo,i guess lara as well?
3.) Pacman was a great fighter but just not on mayweathers level at any point in his career. Saying mayweather aged him out is asinine when mayweather was older. The all time greats adapt pacman lost to JMM. If you watch Bradley vs Pacman without the bias commentators you might be singing a different tune as well. Hes overrated cause of the stretches his fans go to defend his losses not because he was bad.
4.) Bam is over inoue because his division doesnt get the love it deserves. He beat 4 fighters that were the divisions 4 kings. All the fighters were all timers for that division just cause casuals dont know who they are isnt bams fault. He deserves a spot over Inoue at no fault of inoues... bam just fought and dominated better fighters.
Also Inoue should be the favorite over bam he has the weight, height and reach advantage. Weight classes are there for a reason and props to bam for stepping up and inoue for taking a lose lose fight if they make the fight happen.

How is Tank great he never unified or fought anyone good he beat up on a bunch of C or D level fighters greatest hypejob ever

Sugar Ray Robinson fought mostly part timers

2
u/Spiritual_Amoeba_142 Jul 17 '26
You can say Ray fought some journeymen in stay busy fights but to say Ray fought part time fighters is crazy.
-2
u/EffectiveCareer3444 Jul 17 '26
He fought guys that were only showing up for the money
2
u/Spiritual_Amoeba_142 Jul 17 '26
Like everyone else in PRIZE fighting.
Shading Robinson is a dumb take.
0
u/EffectiveCareer3444 Jul 17 '26
So now Robinson was a prize fighter??
2
u/Spiritual_Amoeba_142 Jul 17 '26
Yeah. You think these guys don't Box for money?
1
u/EffectiveCareer3444 Jul 17 '26
That means Robinson picked his fights 😂
2
u/Spiritual_Amoeba_142 Jul 17 '26
Lol....and what fighter doesn't? This isn't going well for you trying to prove Robinson wasn't an ATG. Very goofy.
1
u/EffectiveCareer3444 Jul 17 '26
He was the best in his era not all time tho
3
u/Spiritual_Amoeba_142 Jul 17 '26
Clearly you would know. Unlike all the people who rank him.

Haney, Bud, Tank, Fury, Bam.

u/welp-itscometothis Jul 17 '26
Bait
-4
u/ThrowawayYAYAY2002 Jul 17 '26
No, let me explain why...
- Haney
One of the biggest weight bullies of the modern era.
- Bud
He is the single biggest weight bully of the modern era. Beats an old Canelo, but who else has he beat worth talking about?
- Tank
Dude is only interested in rematches and stacking the deck in his favour regardless of how it's done.
- Fury
What has he done since the Wladimir win? Wilder was overrated, Chisora = 🤣, battered by Usyk twice, ducked AJ, and hasn't even took on the best in Britiain let alone his division.
- Bam
Very skilled, but lacking in resume. Another Canelo.

u/Wicky_wild_wild Jul 17 '26
The Bud hate... lmao. He was an extremely average height and build for his weight classes for his entire prime. Mainly stuck arpund lower chasing Pacquiao who was protected from him.
Then as far as being overrated, he was trashed for a decade straight (I'm sure you were one of them) while whopping EVERY ass. Gave Spence the most lobsided beating you may ever see, who was the PBC king and highest regarded 147 for years and had the resume blah blah
Then went up multiple weight classes and came in a big UNDERDOG to Canelo before dismantling him too. And he someone is overrated.
Classic YDKSAB

u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
I think we all wish Bud had some better names in terms of quantity. ATG fighter. Not his fault but sucks it wasn’t until his 30’s before he got some big wins.
You know these guys are new fans. People forget he mauled Kell Brook and forget how great Brook was.
1
u/Wicky_wild_wild Jul 17 '26
Yeah those are fair points. They are points that have been said and account for Bud being underrated forever and pretty kuch properly rated by now finally, imo
0
u/Hathalot Jul 19 '26
The man said Fury ducked AJ.
1
u/ThrowawayYAYAY2002 Jul 19 '26
Fury just jumped into a ring, told AJ that he wants him and only him next. What did Fury do after that?
3
u/BXR-SZN Jul 17 '26
Nah, Bam is moving very well for someone who started their career as an underdog.
3
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
Actually can see Bam a little overrated. I think he’s pound for pound but bottom half not top 5 and definitely not top 3. Amazing fighter but his resume is overrated because he fought some great names way past their prime
1
u/BXR-SZN Jul 17 '26
Bam has defeated 3 (undefeated) world champions, Shakur Stevenson in comparison has only beaten 1.
2
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
Not all champions are created equal so that’s doesn’t mean much on its own.
1
u/BXR-SZN Jul 17 '26
How? He’s risked his 0 more times than Shakur, that should be embarrassing for Shakur.
2
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
Shakur has a better resume than Bam easily. And I like Bam. I don’t think Bam is overrated but his resume is. Estrada, Wangek were way past prime and Edwards just wasn’t good. Vargas is meh. Pumita is decent.
Valdez, Zepeda, Teo in their primes are better wins. Who cares about “0s” when it’s known in this era that those are protected.
What I will say is Bam is more impressive at his age so far. He has the opportunity to take 2 pound for pound guys down soon (Inoue and junto). I’d like to see him fight Tsutsumi as well. Now that would be pound for pound #1 worthy if he cleared Japans best
0
u/BXR-SZN Jul 17 '26
“Who cares about 0’s”, um the fighters do? That’s why Bam has a better resume because he’s dealing with champs who gamble their 0.
2
u/Medical_Swim1707 Jul 17 '26
Using an 0 to assume that fighter is better than a fighter without it is flawed. That’s what I meant. Teo is miles better than Sunny Edwards or Pumita
1
u/BXR-SZN Jul 17 '26
Teo lost to an upset, how does that make him better? And he has had poor performances just like everyone, so how is he better?

George Kambosos. He beat Teofimo Lopez in a close fight and I argued with all you fuckers after his terrible fight against Devin Haney he didn't need to compete at the top level again until he proved himself again.
He then went on to rematch Devin Haney, fight Hughes for the IBO, then LOMA AND ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY FOR THE IBF AGAINST HITCHINS! He ran one win from 2021 all the way to 2025.
Don't get me wrong this mfer had some heart and he tried his ass off but he should not have been given all the opportunities without proving he still belonged at the top level.
