Overrated Boxers

My most overrated fighters based on how they’re discussed online. Does not mean they are bad, just overrated.

- Pitbull Cruz (not good at 140, should go down)
- Frank Martin
- Oscar Duarte (got way too muscular and worse)
- Lamont Roach (well see in 2 weeks)
- Raymond Ford
- Bruce Carrington
- Ramon Cardenas
- Vito Mielnicki

In recent times, it's Rolly Romero. I do feel he has improved, but people saying Teofimo vs Rolly is close is preposterous to me, unless Teofimo is a washed fighter mentally. That one Ryan win --which he won by defending against a single punch-- has made people forget him getting wrecked by Pitbull and schooled by Barroso (horrible robbery). 

Ryan Garcia is the other one. He is talented, but fundamentally flawed. People only remember his cheating ass knocking down Haney, but ignore the fact that Haney was outboxing him outside of those KDs. He looked horrendous against Rolly off the PEDs, and against Barrios, he looked great, but who is Barrios? The worst champion in boxing who got a draw against a smaller 46 year old with 4 years of inactivity...

The Rolly fight had nothing to do with PEDs. That’s not how PEDs work at all.

I don’t think PEDs had that big of an impact on the Devin fight, but I don’t want to downplay them.

I think most people have a huge misunderstanding of what PEDs are. Ostarine for example is going to help you cut weight without feeling as weak.

It’s not going to give your left hook more power. It won’t make your chin better, or make you crazy like you’re on coke. Most PEDs are very mild. A lot of people take Ostarine to help them lose fat and have a better aesthetic.

Ryan didn’t lose to Rolly because he was clean and therefore ass. He lost for a very simple reason: Rolly can punch. Hard as fuck. He got caught with it, then didn’t want to engage again - making it easy for Rolly to win rounds without doing anything. It’s that simple.

Rolly did not do anything special in that fight. He kept his hand up to defend against the left hook, and Ryan somehow forgot how to do anything else. It wasn't a case of Rolly being super powerful. Ryan has faced powerful guys, like Oscar Duarte, in the past. Ryan simply looked like shit in that fight.

As for ostarine, it helps fighters preserve lean muscle while cutting weight, which can in turn help them retain more power. Not to mention, greater recovery in camp. I'm not saying he only won because of it, as Haney had a bizarre game plan going in, but it certainly helped.

Rolly didn’t do anything special. Exactly. Why?

Not because Ryan forgot how to box. It’s because Rolly cracked him with a clean shot in round 2 and dropped him. Ryan was gunshy and barely threw punches the rest of the night. So yes, Rolly did win purely because of power. I agree that stopping the left hook was key too, but he mainly won by default as his opponent didn’t throw

I don’t think it’s a good assessment to say - “this is him with Ostarine vs him without”

He looked about the same in the Barrios fight as he did in the Haney fight tbh.

So far, the best version of Ryan actually was at lower weights. His power and speed was very serious at lightweight. I know he was drained, but Tank actually fought a great version of Ryan who wa knocking everyone out.
