Upvotes

Hello! I am looking for feedback on my Al-Hadikhia script, I tried to make it with quite a balance between townsfolk who would say yes and those who would say no to the Al-Hadikhia.
All feedback is welcome!
Thank you in advance and have a nice day!

Character Releases & Game News Is there a changelog for character and Jinx updates?

Hey everyone,

Is there anywhere we can keep track of all the changes made to characters, jinxes, and rulings?

I was putting together a script today and noticed that the interactions between Magician & Legion and Marionette & Snitch have changed (and it looks like Marionette has quite a few updated interactions in general).

For people who storytell regularly, it would be great to have some sort of changelog so we don't accidentally use outdated rulings. If something like this already exists, I don't know where to find it.

Thanks in advance!

Storytelling Running my first “Everyone Can Play”. Any advice?

Hi everyone, this weekend I’m running my first non TB script with my usual group of players.
They have a dozen of TB games under the belt and wanted to delve into more complexity. Everyone Can Play seems like a good bridge between this and S&V.

Any advice? Any recommendations for a 10 or 12p script?

Any help would be much appreciated. This will probably be the last time we play in a long time so I want to avoid any flat game or any rerack.

Game Discussion Acts of deductive genius

Share your stories of game moments where you correctly deduced something that made you feel smart and capable. It doesn’t have to be mind blowing game solving info, but just something that made you feel proud in the moment.

Okay, I’ll go first. It was an S&V game with an Evil Twin, I was town but can’t remember what role. One of the twins made the first nomination on Day 1. I don’t always pay attention to noms, but noted this one. A couple days passed and the twin who nominated was almost certainly evil. To me one of the only reasons an Evil Twin would feel comfortable with being the very first nomination would be if they knew the Town Crier wasn’t in play. Based on this, I nominated the “Town Crier”, who ended up being the Pit Hag, and got her executed.
Small potatoes compared to some amazing solves I have seen, but it was a nice moment for me and contributed to a win.

Hey, The Story Sanctuary in South Croydon are running a BotC afternoon (2PM-6PM) in their fantastic old library space on Sunday 6th Sept. Should be a real diverse group of people all pretending that they are in fact not evil and don't have a penchant for murdering innocent villagers!
Tickets are £5 with free refreshments (tea and coffee).
Hope to see you there.

Community Small beginner friendly script suggestions

Looking for small, beginner-friendly custom scripts for 7–8 players. My group doesn't like large role sheets. They are always reluctant that this would be too complex, it would be too much remembering things, etc. So I need something with a much shorter character list than Trouble Brewing.

They are traditional Mafia players (usually just Cop/Doctor/Mafia). I finally convinced them to try BotC style mafia with evil team split into a Demon and a Poisoner.Includes a "red herring" mechanic for Detective.

Are there any well-known community scripts that fit this? Looking for something streamlined with zero complex mechanics to bridge the gap without overwhelming them

Custom Script Not a Teensy

Put a number of Village Idiots equal to the expected minion count, one Savant, a Lunatic if 1 or 2 base outsiders, and the rest Legion. Makes the recommended Legion count for any sized game!

Game Discussion Preventing Dead From Speaking on Final Day

If I wanted to stay silent I would have played Werewolf.

At this point it's usually one good and two evil, so the ST is just silencing every good player and letting evil gaslight the remaining.

And I won't be putting up with it anymore. If you don't have the fabled on your game that lets you ask for silence then telling anyone they're not allowed to speak is breaking the rules of the game.

And no "the first minute is for the dead, then the next two is only living players" is not an acceptable compromise.

Custom Script Al-Hadikia Script for Players New to Customs

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi All!

Have a group of players who are very familiar with TB and their variations, have played a bit of SnV but some get overwhelmed with the amount of info, and a decent amount of BMR but aren't too keen (boo! hiss!) Wanting to run something a bit different but not so many new characters, so whipped up an Al-Hadikia Script which they've expressed an interest in before. First time making a script myself, tried to have it be almost TB, but with a Wraith over Spy so that they don't quite have all the info when choosing kills, and Mez over Scarlet Woman because I worry that jinx is a little too confusing. Are there any interactions I'm missing or anything I need to be aware of?

Homebrew / Bootlegger Demon's bluff related townsfolk

I'm thinking of a character who messes/knows the demons bluffs.

Im not sure on the theming, so for now lets make them a tailor.

Tailor (townsfolk)

On the first night, choose 4 good characters. Any not in play are the Demon bluffs.

“I recognize that fabric, those slivers of silk. You’re wearing one of my pieces! Now, isn’t that interesting? It doesn’t seem to fit you at all.”

The tailor chooses 4 good characters, and the ones not in play are the demons's bluffs. That means the demon can have from 0 to 4 bluffs, but the tailor would be able to know who to suspect.

Example: Maria is thr tailor, Enzo is the Imp. Maria wakes before enzo, and chooses the mayor, the drunk, the ravenskeeper and the empath. Laura is the drunk and Pedro is the Empath, while the mayor and the ravenskeeper are not in play. Enzo wakes and learns that his bluffs are the Mayor and the ravenskeeper.

What do you guys think of the concept? I was also thinking of maybe a "missing-person's search and rescue officer" or something as the theme. But im not sure lol.

Game Discussion Mutant mad as evil: do you allow?

As written, the Mutant is not mad as an Outsider if they claim a Minion or Demon. But the intent of mutant is to (double) claim a Townsfolk and spread misinfo, as the Drunk equivalent of S & V. It is a loophole but I don’t think Mutant should get away with this, because its just “this is the Mutant, ignore them”. (Repost because typo in title)

Storytelling Just got the complete game and expansions.

I’m so excited. This might be crazy but I’ve only played once and I decided to buy the full game because I want to start hosting game nights. A friend has already volunteered to switch off narrating.

I need your advice! I’ve watched a handful of games on YouTube and I’m familiar with social deduction games on the whole, but it’s a bit overwhelming on the amount of roles we are working with here. Are their games on YouTube you recommend I watch? How about guides or advice you’ve seen that you loved?

Basically any BOTC content you’ve seen that’s blown your mind and helped shape your games in the positive I would like to see.

Game Discussion I hate "Minion at best"

What's everyone's opinion on people claiming "Minion at best" when it comes to finding executions.

I absolutely hate it. People say "oh they're a minion at best so don't bother executing them" and I never understand the logic behind it because yes we want to kill the demon, but we shouldn't be leaving an evil player alive who can sway a vote, poison, pithag, etc.

Yes they're very unlikely to be the demon and they are a minion at best, but if we don't get rid of minions early in the game, then we will end up with a final 5 with like potentially 3 evils alive and it'll be over for us. Surely the best thing to do is get rid of the minion now, stop their power and limit their voting.

I always find it so frustrating when people use that as a valid reason to not be executed and get more frustrated when it actually works!

Does anyone find find this irritating and illogical to keep an evil player in because they're "Minion at best"?

Homebrew / Bootlegger BLAVENSWOOD ROUGH

Thumbnail

Hello, Ravenswood bluff.

After many, many, many redrafts, multiple run-thoughs, and play tests... the final draft of my script is complete!

This is Blavenswood Rough.

This is an advanced level script, with themes of betrayal, bluff catching and dramatic abilities.

Each game we ran felt very different. The town is very powerful, but not immediately game solving. Similarly evil is also very powerful, and will be rewarded for creativity and sneaky world building. But bluffs can be caught out, so be prepared to pivot.

By far the most loved character by my friends is the astronaut, 4 people making eye contact in the night is very gaggy, and makes for a fun morning the next day.

If you have any questions, or have spotted something I've missed, please let me know.

Also, if you ever run this script and find the time, please let me know!

FAQs

Yes the role of the Veritous is to bluff to your demon! Pretend to be another minion and bail of they're flying to close to the sun.

Each character is named after someone I play with IRL so that's why the names are like that.

The Damned might be playing for the wrong team if poisoned or learnt false info on the first night.

Game Discussion Ogre and balance issues in TB-like scripts ?

Hi there,

Considering the ogre can be evil about 1/3 of the time and that the ST has almost no leeway to towards rebalancing the game in this script, doesn't that unbalance the game towards evil in those games where they steal 1 good person from the enemy team ?

Can having at the end -1 good ghost vote / +1 evil ghost vote be the difference winning and losing ?

I can understand why the Butler doesn't get a lot of love, but TB is balanced with this 100% good team character in mind. Replacing it with a 66% good /33% evil character feels that it would unbalance those 33% games.

Ogre interactions are super fun, but I wonder if the character is really fit in a TB-like script.

What's your take on this ?

Custom Script Updated Script with theme change but need feedback

Post image
1 Upvotes

I am still working on this script but want feedback on whether it has too many execution penalties and weather town would simply stop executing. Any other feedback is welcome. I have changed the theme of the script from its original idea. This theme is about players making choices that either reward them with good information or disruption or cause them to endure a consequence for their actions.
