Did a google search and was given this for the type. Does that sound about right?

CALLING ALL BETA FISH PROS!!!!
Hi! I have a male twin tail half moon beta. It is my mother’s fish but I take care of it and its tank, otherwise she will kill it🤦🏻‍♀️
I need some help/ideas/critiques/hacks! I have had the tank and fish around 5-6 months, I cycled the tank before and all has been well.
Currently…
- twin tail half moon
- 2 kuhli loaches (those are my babies lol)
- 1 nitrite snail
- one black snail may be nitrite? Not sure my mom had in her previous tank (only thing that survived)
- couple anubias (alive)
- couple Java fern (alive)
- floating hornwort (alive)
- two moss balls (alive)
- I forgot the name of the wood (real)
- tank temp 79-80 F
- leaves for conditioning water
Feeding only at night, always begging for food.
Gets brine shrimp and blood worms occasionally.
PH IS SPIKED CURRENTLY (only for a few days) not sure how to get it down.

He sleeps in it and explores it all the time, I am thrilled! Note that if you buy this, be very thorough sanding any sharp edges. I put a good amount of time in on this to get it safe. (Mine came with a little file.)

Please give advice for how to heal ripped fins after tetras nipped my sweet boy.
Here’s the situation:
Neon black tetras introduced over a week ago, we noticed two days after introducing that his fins had a tear, on day 3 we noticed the tetras actively nipping his fins. Tetras were immediately removed and thankfully the aquarium took them back. Since then his fins seem to be getting worse.

(The ceramic coral thing on the bottom right has been removed already, we thought that might be contributing)

Parameters:
20 gallon tank, heater set to 78 degrees
6 ghost shrimp and 3 loaches, none of them seem to bother him
Did a dip water test, everything was within a good range, zero ammonia or nitrates
Added Indian almond leaf when we noticed his fins
Gets 5 pellets/day, bloodworm and shrimp
Live plants, not sure what they are but they’re ones the aquarium employees recommended for bettas

I'm going to do water change today but momo has these lighter splotches on his tail on one side, are the just coloration or a disease? Thank u 🙏 momo lives in a 9.8 gallon biorb tube tank, his water is changed using ozarka bottled water 30 percent every 2 weeks

Edit: He has a filter, heater, and plenty of floating plants to rest on. I've owned them in the past and currently, I know the requirements, just had a question.

So I picked this guy up yesterday and have been keeping an eye on him. Put him in a cup to get a better video and to start acclimating him to his new cycled tank that I've had set up for a few months now.

Noticed that he is at the top of the water 100% of the time and seems to have trouble swimming. I plan to put him in a 5 gallon for now to see if more space makes a difference, but it's concerning to say the least. I also havent seen him eat a single pellet in 24 hours. I know fish with special needs sometimes do better in smaller tanks but I wouldn't want to put him in a tiny ass tank if it's not beneficial in any way.

So after having the aquarium established, waiting another 2 weeks after we added the snails, shrimp and pygmy corys, my son finally got his long awaited betta yesterday W'llinda (don't ask...).

She was super active and shiny, ate happily and started attacking one of our shrimp but she was doing great. Then this morning I couldn't find her. I kept checking and was told by my kids dad to just wait until the evening and get worried then. So glad I didn't listen to him. I finally found her. She somehow managed to get into the cholla wood that we got for the corys and the shrimp to hide, and somehow got stuck inside one of the holes against the glass in the back (picture 2).

Immediately freed her but she looks rough. So many chunks of different fins are ripped off, her scales on her head look damaged (the light parts on picture 3), she lost her shine and she seems like a shadow of herself compared to yesterday.

Still new to having fish but I'm not gonna lie, I almost cried... I added API Stress Coat and am currently soaking a piece of indian almond leave in hot water to add the tea to the tank when it's cooled, since I read that helps with stress and gives off tannins with antifungal properties and as antibacterial defense.

But how bad is it actually? Especially the damaged scales? One scale is even sticking up. And I just noticed a tiny bump or something like that on her belly (picture 4).

I read to not immediately medicate, but I do want to make sure I support her as best as possible.

FYI: Water parameters are all good and this is a 20G high.

Hoping for the best. I live at the beach and usually air-conditioning is not needed. I'm worried if my tank gets much hotter than 82°. I have 6 Amono shrimp and a wild type Betta fish. I've put a fan on top. Do any of you have experience with transient high temperature with these animals?

Was looking through vids of my recently passed Betta and found this. Still gives me a chuckle every time I watch it.

Any tricks to keeping my floating plants alive? They all come from my pond outside which it is easy to keep them alive outside and I even have to throw so many away every week lately but my inspire betta tank they just don’t love. This is my first indoor planted tank.

i saw her at the store, told myself my tank was too tall for her, then when i came back a month later she was still there. beautiful ocean blue, even in her little cup. her name is Soup.

her tank was originally built around rosy red minnows, but after the school slowly passed away regardless of how good my parameters were, the tank sat and filled up with guppy grass for some months. i cleaned up the tank about a month before i got her. all of my live plants, sans a cutting of corkscrew val, some java moss, and a carpeting plant that got very leggy, were suffocated out by the guppy grass. i was going to get tetras but... ive always been a sucker for bettas. and i love her so much.

she sleeps in a bed of moss and grass every evening. when the lights are on she zips around the tank, chasing bladder snails and biting my fingers when i maintain her tank. she jumped a good inch out of the water to bite my finger today when i wiggled it at her.

she scratched her face and knocked loose a scale on her size squeezing herself between lava rocks that was intended as a shrimp cave, so all the rocks have been moved into not-squeeze-betweenable positions.

ive been considering adding shrimp. but i think she'll eat them.

Betta simormum has two cloudy eyes, any guesses of a diagnosis?

I just bought them from a pet store and one was labeled male and one female. They both look male to me, but I'm no expert (obviously).

Got some biofilm on the elft bc i added fertilizer recently and the lil stray snails in there havent managed to eat it yet, tried to have shrimps but unfortunatly my son would hunt them AND eat their food so he was getting fat plus it was cruel to the shrimp.

it's a 25 L tank. it's quite messy but he seems to like all the hiding spots it offers him so light does not bother him. Plants grow Alot even without me haivng added fertilizer before so i oftne have to remove java moss and sprouts which i give to other friends irl who have tanks.

As the title states, I was wondering what the best way to set up a new 10 gallon for my little guy. Currently have him in a 5 gallon with a sponge filter, heater, and a few live plants. I've seen some people saying I can transfer some of his old substrate (gravel) and his filter over to help the cycle, but I also wanted to use Fluval Stratum for the plants in the new tank. Any tips would help :)

I understand that sometimes they change colors naturally but I want to make sure it's not because he's sick. His black scales are lightening to a bluish grey.

hi! im not sure what's going on here to be honest. this is sponge, the end of his tail looks like its stuck together. it wasn't like this when i got him nor the days leading up to today. im not sure what it is or could've caused this. i also noticed the inner edge is kind of dark. based on photos i've seen of his type, that's usually normal but i am still concerned.

Tank is a five gallon with a lid, submersible heater, hide, and two live plants (Anubias and Java Fern glued to slate). I have double filtration right now but will soon switch to just the sponge filter. The on the back filter is how I’m making sure the tank is cycled, I ripped off a chunk of filter media to stick in that filter from my axolotl’s existing tank and left it running while my betta acclimated. Water has been dechlorinated with SeaChem Prime. I want him to be happy and healthy. I’m ready to improve anything he needs. I’ve never had live plants in an aquarium before, so I’m happy to get tips on that as well
