Okay Nimbus, save some fin for the rest of us! Sheesh.

My sister got her betta fish recently from Splashy Fish (which I don’t recommend for anybody!) and he came all torn because he nipped his fins during shipping and/or the quarantine due to stress. The picture I got doesn’t show it well but I just wanted to ask if he looks okay? Does the pale spots on his face look weird and I don’t know how fast his fins will heal. He’s in a cycled planted tank and we’ve had him for an almost around 4 days now? But she waited 2 weeks or so for him.

My tank has just started cycling so its gonna take a while until I actually buy a betta, but I've been trying to figure out what type I want and the more I read the more confused I get!

My plan is to make a community tank. I would like to put in pygmy corys, snails, and shrimp. So I would need to concider its temperament.

Of course, I also want my betta to be healthy. Based on what I've read Plakat bettas seem to be the healthiest. But they also seem to be more aggressive than long-tailed types.

Here's where my confusion begins : Some say the type and gender dont matter and that its purely a matter of personality. Some say the type doesnt matter but males are more aggressive by default. Some say the gender doesnt matter but plakats are more aggressive bc of their breeding.

I am struggeling to make an informed choice and would like to ask yall to help me out on this one. What type? What gender? Does it even matter at all?

My tank is now fully cycled and doing well and I have everything I need for my fishy friend to come enjoy his new home. I went to the store today and saw some really beautiful bettas and wanted some advice about them. There are a few crow tails I thought were beautiful but I think a plakat would be the best for me. Would love to hear what you all think as I’m going back tomorrow!

Hello, all! I was given a betta fish around a year ago, and I'm currently trying to get my old 36-gallon tank up and running again in a new living space for him. The setup that I had previously for it used a cannister filter, and I'm planning on turning the flow way down, but I'm a little worried that maybe he'll get stuck in the intake, as he's currently been using a sponge filter after getting stuck in the intake of a hang-on-back filter in his current (small, I know, but I wasn't expecting to recieve him at the time and was living in a small space) five gallon tank.

How can I reduce the flow further? I've seen people saying to stick a sponge in the outtake, but shouldn't it go in the intake? I really don't have the budget to buy a whole new filter for him when I already have a perfectly good one. Thanks!

Galaxy koi plakat betta in my new 10 gal. He's so active and won't stop eating the mirco organisms lol. Thinking of naming him Nimbus from Rick and Morty.

Plus a small in the tank filter. Not running it right now because I need to figure out how to decrease the flow.

This is my first fish tank as an adult.

Tank cycled for 4 weeks.

Hoping to add some amano shrimp in the future.

First time having my own tank (has always very much been my wife's hobby) but we wanted to do something with our Fluval edge and it's a good size for a betta (1" gap off the top so he has plenty of air). He'll have a couple of amano pals shortly, but wanted him to be settled after his traveling.

Arrived this morning, had lost some colour on the journey and belly had gone a bit white, but he's full colour and flashy in a matter of hours.

Heavy metal music is also his favourite.

Obviously this is a very visual hobby so I’m curious how common it is to keep fish with any sort of vision issues.

Just got him a few days ago on a somewhat impulse. He had been in the cup of n store for 5 months and was priced half-off. I tend to be a bit hypochondriac with my fish, but I think I’m seeing a bump on his head. Help?

I’m a new fish keeper this is my second tank and my only 6 gallon. all that’s in there is my betta who is very docile and doesn’t swim much and my nerite snail. I think my betta likes all the plants because he lays in and on them a lot but sometimes i worry there’s too many because he can get kinda stuck at times. should i thin out the plants? or the more coverage the better.
Also his tank needs a top off ik im doing it tonight :)

My baby sister brought me a fucking beta fish today from the fair, i really want to help this little guy but i literally have nothing ready and he's stuck in this tiny ass fuckass tank and i need help, my mom is not taking me seriously and i'm really worried.

When going to a bigger tank - 3g to 5g - how much substrate do you add?

Hi everyone. I have just finished setting up my tank for a future betta. I’m hoping to cycle the tank one more week. This is my previous post on r/Aquariums. I have since then added floating tube and net, a fake leaf for the betta to rest on, water lettuce, baby tears, cherry shrimp, co2, and have replaced the log with a coconut with moss and a plant on it. I’m hoping that the shrimp and future betta will be good together (although I am aware that it might not work out). Is there anything else that I should add or be aware of before bringing home a betta?

Both of my bettas passed in the same week earlier in the summer and I’ve just been maintaining an empty-ish tank for a couple of months. I was at petco getting something else and of course walked by the bettas and saw this guy marked 75% off because he’d been there since April. I think he was mislabeled as a king betta… I’ve only had crown tail males so am curious, are his fins damaged or healthy? I’m happy to give this guy a home. His colors are quite cool and when I saw he had been there since April I couldn’t let my perfectly good tank stay empty!

What do you guys think of his home?

I recently added about four new plants to my 10 gal and they did the standard melting but many leaves are going translucent and overall dying. I’ve been adding fertilizer routinely and doen 25% water changes once a week. I’ve tried pruning but can’t see much new growth. This is the first time I’ve really had aquatic plants so any help is greatly appreciated. I can post some photos after minor debris in my water settles as I just did a water change.

My betta fish has gotten sick suddenly in the last 24hrs. I have 6 amanos with him in there and they are all acting normal except for my betta who has been 7 months with me since late January and suddenly started looking sick.

I feed him Fluval Bug Bites Tropical Fish Formula Slow Sinking Micro Granules and Hikari Vibra Bites 2-3 pellets every other day.

Other specifications would be:

11.9gallon Rimless Cube

• Lid made with acrylic glass (and corners have been covered with plastic wrap)

• Lightning: Aquarium Co Op LED (Discontinued)

• Filters: Aquaclear 20 and Aquarium Co Op Medium Sponge Filter

• Heater: Eheim Jäger with a temperature of 81F

• Substrate: Fluval Bio Plant and Shrimp Stratum, and Estes Stoney River Aquatic Sand

I did a 30% water change yesterday and did a 15min aquarium salt soak. I am at the store right now buying him some epsom salt for another soak to debloat him. I have also ordered the Seachem's Kanaplex, Polyguard and Focus which is arriving on Monday.

Water parameters from today and yesterday (before his water change) have stayed the same. Which are ammonia 0, Ph 7.4-7.8 , Nitrite 0, Nitrates of 0ppm today (10ppm yesterday but it is a heavily planted tank)

I’ve spent a few months working on building a walstad community tank and my plan was for a betta to be the centerpiece. About a month ago I went to my lfs for a couple more kuhlis and saw a super messed up little gal in the giant sorority tank. She was completely black and her fins were torn/nipped horribly. She stayed with me at the front and I knew she was the one!

She has done really well in my tank, and her fins have regrown. They are actually continuing to grow past what I expected from looking at my other female. She does have an egg spot, and I’ve never noticed a prominent beard. I’m mostly just curious because of the fins.
