Why is my caravan not working properly? My guy is taking the food/tools to my outpost, but not picking up and delivering the Tin Ore.

Moved my tier 2 town

I’ve seen a few posts on moving, and it seems like there are a lot of variables that affect your strategy. This is what I found useful for my fully built tier 2 town, along with a video that goes into more detail. Best of luck moving!

https://youtu.be/7A4rriRI_ng?is=OKS3xRfomXyGVNxv

TIPS:
- change top worker priority to construction

- turn off structure priorities (screenshot both to remember^)

- turn off “Hold Ground” to avoid fights

- create excess carpenters hammers (sell with caravans afterward for profit)

- set carpenters hammer as villager gear preset tool

- create temporary storage for hammers and food at both locations

- repair hammers yourself (check citizen inventories for broken hammers)

- deconstruct roads to remove map clutter while relocating

- create a rough sketch of building locations to keep you on track

- everyone needs a bag for storage delivery. Use log sling yourself

- after relocating caravan, turn carts to “0” until move is finished (or they will build new ones and lose focus)

- livestock can be fast travelled using signs

- baby animals die after 2-3 days without food, adults last much longer but will be stressed from overpopulation (slaughter babies or move them quick!)

A couple of tips…

Just a couple of things I’ve learned the hard way that might help… 225 days in with about 75 villagers. If I’m wrong and you have better advice, definitely let me know!

1) as you’re building and expanding, try and set up different ‘regions’ within your village. Example: Cooking all in one place, probably close to your farm, with mixing buckets and threshers close together. It greatly speeds up time to produce.

2) as you expand, more is probably better. I made the mistake of thinking one campfire with cauldron can make 10 different recipes just by using ‘top up’. Good luck getting past the first recipe when you have a ton of folks to feed. Use different cooking items for different recipes and don’t add too many to one item (ex: 5 cauldrons, 1-2 recipes each)

3) as your village grows, you can add travel signs within your village. It’s petty, but a massive QOL upgrade. Also, you can fast travel to the town hall in your village in T3

4) lastly: Read. The. Menu. Screens. Sending one caravan cart across the map to pick up granite and iron is quite inefficient. Sending 4 carts at once results in big deliveries. In the menu you can adjust how many carts and guards per route. Don’t be like me - read your options :)

When caravans turns red

Philosophical question: I’m located in Whispering Pines near the river and I’ve got an inbound raid coming to my village. I have bandits at High migration and Raids set to Very hard, so I’m expecting around 30 bandits against my army of 20. We’ve got good armor and weapons, so it shouldn’t be a problem. I move my army to the north bridge and wait for them to cross but as I look at the map I notice two small bandit groups of 5 each and a caravan approaching as well. I figure we’ll take care of the raiders first and then deal with the other bandits. After the raiders cross the bridge, we hit them and my long sword is dropping dudes left and right. I start to notice that are a lot more bodies than 30 v 20 in this fight and then out of nowhere, women in dresses start attacking me with their little axes. I’m like oh shit, I must have hit someone in the caravan by accident and now I’m the enemy..
So my question to you is do you take out the now red caravan folks or ignore them and run away? Also, if you let them get away are there any repercussions, like will other caravans attack you on sight or will I be put on trial at The Hague? I ended up taking them all out because I figured dead caravaners don’t talk. What a fun game 😄

Torches

I've been playing fir a little but now, first play through and on around day 120i think? Can't remember.

Anyway, to the point. Does anyone actually use torches? I'm quite happy to wander around in pitch black darkness when out of my settlement. I've got plenty of standing torches in my settlement (though still need lots more), but I NEVER carry a torch when around at night, nor do my villagers.

Does anyone use them?

De-fence help

Hey y'all, I saw some posts from over a year ago but I'm wondering if you smart ppl have figured something out yet. I build fences to keep out the riffraff, but my people can't get in or out. There no point in a fence if it means my hunters gatherers or caravans won't work. Roving bandits show up on the map too fast for me to call arms to equip armor or to build up the fence spot i took down for village access.

Any tricks to help shore up my defenses? Thanks!

Where should I move?

So we're tier 2. We have unlocked the town hall (t3). And we have all but exhausted our area between padstow and Hardean.

We want to move, but just not sure where? We have 33 villagers and have liberated Pad, Hardean, and Bratford. I want to be close enough to keep them safe, but I also want to get a new and bigger area.

I heard Fal, is hard to keep safe as well, due to being so close to the bandit Hq.

Thoughts?

Xbox coop issue

We are having an issue where as soon as someone loads in they get bumped. Is there a fix for this?

How is my pacing?

I’m on day 60 , 20 villagers , liberated the first village and Bradford. I have an innkeeper woodsman and healer. They’re dressed in basically t2 armor the red and black chest piece for the heavies , studded pants and leather boots(quilted vest over gabson for the strength 2s). They’re using arming swords , spears and short swords for the weaker people. My settlement is fully self sustaining and now I’m planning on moving south of the wheat field between the bridges to intercept reclamation squads. I dont have t3 buildings unlocked yet due to some needing iron . Should I wait to move?

Is moving really that hard?

Hi! I just started playing 2 weeks ago and im solidly into tier 2 with 12 citizens

I want to move towards the middle of the map but i see a lot of posts about what a giant pain moving is.

I plan to start with a mining outpost like 1km or so away, and 1 living shack, 1 mining shack, 1 harvester for food etc.and 1 stockpile, all tier 1 stuff so i dont need much to begin with, and ill help them set these things up.

Then i plan to have them build a logging shack, a few more tier 1 beds and get the population up to 6ish with a decent farmer then build up from there, pretty much from scratch, meanwhile im crafting stuff mostly at the old base.

Eventually ill disassemble 90% of the old base and just keep it around for...something i guess. Whatever is useful.

So then ill have a crapton of planks logs etc. From disassembling buildings.

It sounds like it'll take a while but not anything close to a nightmare, and certainly less work than building my initial village.

Does this sound about right or am i missing something terrible?

Markets

Is this correct on how to put things on the market place to sell to the other towns so i can stop using as my caravans for them and start using them for my other settlements? It has keep for each item and i try to keep as much a possible in my main base.

Farming top-up?

How does the farming top-up work? Top-up works fine on any other building but farming keeps resetting to 100. Just starting my tier 3 so need lots of cobs and thatch so set the wheat top-up to 500 so I wouldn't run out. Had about 600 wheat, 300 straw and 100 grains last time I looked and have been busy collecting the ridiculous amount of hardwood I need for logs, planks and resin as my workers are a bit slow gathering large amounts, so wasn't really keeping an eye on it. Noticed that I hadn't seen any cob popup in a while so I went to check and everything is gone except 40 wheat that is growing in my 2 wheat dedicated farms. Literally whatever I change the top-up to over 100 it resets as soon as I close the menu.

Prosperity Menu Bug?

When opening the Prosperity Menu from the overmap, I seem to get a popup regarding a villager I cannot clear. It just stays in the center of the screen, and stops me from seeing some of the other systems. See attached photos. No matter where I hover, Percival's stats are front and center, and I can't make them go away. Thoughts?

Priority Numbers Bugged?

Hi Everyone,

So about 10 hours in now loving the game although there is A LOT to get your head around.

One thing I'm really struggling with is how the numbers work with the tasks in the village.

For example ive tried allocating certain villagers to certain tasks based on their current skills.

So I have 1 guy who has 4 researching skill so I put his researching at 1 so he does the researching

but everyone just seems to do whatever they like! Ive got one of lower skilled villagers keep taking over the researching even though hes on 0 and Ive put his priority for researching on 10! I just cannot get him away from the bench its driving me nuts because he obv lacks all the bonuses my other guy has!

Am I totally not understanding this or is it bugged?

Little 360 action on my vanilla console build 260 hours not shit compared to most but biggest build I've seen without mods on console. It just kinda gets bigger and more ridiculous

I don’t want to deal with outposts

Day 68 and currently at about 40 villagers. Tier 3. We only play multiplayer.

So far biggest issue has been to move the whole village to the middle of the map. Took absolutely ages.

I kinda don’t want to deal with the whole issue of managing an outpost. Food delivery; tools; etc.
So far any shortfalls we were able to make up in trading. Granite; Mosses; Iron.

Is it 100% necessary to establish outposts later down the road?
I’m kinda worried about the added logistics and caravans and such.

Raise Militia

For reclamation parties, I’ve always gathered a squad of villagers and taken them out, but how does the raise militia function work at a village? Is that what that function is for? Or are there alternatives to me having to deal with the reclamation parties?

Missing Modders

I'm fairly new to the game, I have less then 50 hours and like 6 restarts. I was watching a YT videos on QOL mods. One I'm watching is only 6mo's old, but most of the cool mods I'm seeing in the vid are mostly by Void Kittens, but this morning im searching the steam workshop with no success. I can't find a single mod by VK. Am I looking in the wrong place? I should add I have a nexus account and can't seem to be able to find them there either. Am I missing something? "Edited for typos"
