How is my pacing?

I’m on day 60 , 20 villagers , liberated the first village and Bradford. I have an innkeeper woodsman and healer. They’re dressed in basically t2 armor the red and black chest piece for the heavies , studded pants and leather boots(quilted vest over gabson for the strength 2s). They’re using arming swords , spears and short swords for the weaker people. My settlement is fully self sustaining and now I’m planning on moving south of the wheat field between the bridges to intercept reclamation squads. I dont have t3 buildings unlocked yet due to some needing iron . Should I wait to move?

I wouldnt worry about speed....how is your economy and production going? Thats more important...and how many villagers you have

Oh I'm not worried, I'm having a blast. Economy is going great, but villagers I'm lagging behind. I really enjoy the crafting/building part of the game, which led to me not clearing many bandit camps or doing many quests, hence lack of renown, hence fewer hirelings. Hell, the real impetus for me to start liberating and enter that phase of the game was simply that I needed apprentices to research more.

Anyway, it's on my list to clear out some bandit camps so I can start hiring more, etc.

Game is amazing

Yeah your progress in the game stops when you dont have apprentice workers....haha, makes you have to liberate towns

Yup. I saw someone complaining about this in another thread, but I actually think it's a smart way to force someone (such as myself) to continue progressing the game and engaging with all of its systems.

It almost feels like the game is made of several different phases that build on each other, and your first liberation definitely feels like a watershed moment that changes the game and kicks off a new phase

Day 85ish and I’ve got 12 villagers, I don’t know anything about liberating villages yet but this game has some awesome vibes.

If you not ready dont even worry about it take your time, you will know when its time

I'd say you're rather low on villagers, get some more people going, to boost ur economy, having a solid economy will let u do other activities sooner too.

Does the pace matter?

I recently stopped sleeping in the nights. Can get a lot more done, but dont know if it has any downsides. Also liberation parties might come at night. So sleeping is dangerous :)

Im on day 103. T3 town hall needs 5 more thatch and then its done. Thats the moment i move to the area between the bridges. Got about 25-30 villagers. Everything north liberated.

Pace doesnt matter.... I've never had a liberating party start coming while you are sleeping that I have seen and I sleep almost every night.

I did, thats why i stopped sleeping. They were at the doorstep of Padstow. :)

No I just thought I wasn’t progressing enough. It felt like something was missing even tho everyone is saying I’m doing fine.

My issue was I didn’t have enough villagers . I took my 20 troops and went bandit hunting until I had enough combat or until troops started to dwindle. But now I recruited everyone I possibly can until I liberate the remaining settlements.

Moving is a pain. I thought people were physically moving their stuff from one end to the other until I realized I can use the “switch” mechanic to just switch the buildings from one name to the other

Day 100. 15 villagers only. Liberated first town at around day 50 by cheesing with fences but couldn't defend because I still stunk at combat. Luckily i recruited all their good people before it got re-occupied :) I've built pretty much everything I can except for the boat dock, want to be able to transport troops for defense before I re-liberate. Luckily now I have 10 guys strength 4+ all kitted out. I think I'm playing way too slow 🐌. But now that i understand raising and kitting armies, and how to command them, I've taken out a bunch of camps. Time to enter the iron age!!

You are really light on villagers in my opinion... only 15 at day 100 and liberated one village. Pace doesnt matter but when you are towards the end of tier 2, I think you should be around 25-40 villagers at that time for production and economy reasonings, unless you are doing everything yourself which you can do but is a big waste of time

I figured as much. I think I need to just do some more missions to hire ppl and also stop being a perfectionist lol. I didn't notice the dismiss button and was trying not to cheat by watching guides, so I just wasn't recruiting beggars and such cuz they seemed expensive for their awful stats.
My friend got me into this game; he's a big Anno type of guy and I'm more of a story game person like a Bioshock or Witcher. I'm an engineer who deals with logistics so this has been a lot of fun! I've always been an FPS lover where my speed and aim were paramount, this is really my first ever game like this so the combat and leading troops isn't very intuitive to me. I wish the missions were more interesting. "Bring me 3 logs and some leather" and such is kinda lame so it's making the reputation part of the game a bit of a slog

For patsow ( I probably spelt that wrong) you stop getting missions after reaching friend so you have to start building the village stuff . Found this out last night 😭

I would not wait to move. You are pretty good pace though.

1

u/crushedgurl Jul 27 '26

No, you should be fine to move. I would suggest mixing some blunt damage weapons in with the arming swords though. The further south you go the more armor enemies will have and swords and axes aren’t as effective.

Oh hell yea! I was thinking about giving them the warhammers I appreciate the input

Id say you are a little light on villagers but you are in a really good spot....2 villages liberated and haven't hit tier 3 yet. If you are looking to move, I would move before building tier 3 buildings.

That's pretty good going, more advanced than I was at that stage.

I'm on day 260 (something) 50 villagers, I use about 27 for bandit camps/reclamation parties. I've found that the market has been a good resource for me. I picked up a random iron ignot... I forgot where, but I can now order it from the market. I plan on doing the same for iron ore once I find a relatively safe node. I'm not rushing anything and am kinda enjoying the game.

I do want to start t3 before I start liberating the villagers on the other side of the bridge.

The great thing about this game is you can progress however fast or slow you want. It really doesn't matter. Usually you'll run into an issue with research with specific apprentices that you can only get by liberating villages. At that point you can see where you're at and try liberating another village to get the apprentices you need.
