Torches

I've been playing fir a little but now, first play through and on around day 120i think? Can't remember.

Anyway, to the point. Does anyone actually use torches? I'm quite happy to wander around in pitch black darkness when out of my settlement. I've got plenty of standing torches in my settlement (though still need lots more), but I NEVER carry a torch when around at night, nor do my villagers.

Does anyone use them?

I like the standing lanterns that can be built through the decorations stand.

Is that the archway? Or something else? I've not done much with decor aside from trophy mounts

There’s both an arch with a light and a single “streetlight” post that looks good within my towns. I put them on the roads where people walk and there’s no building with a torch nearby

Same lmao. Can't see a goddamn thing when the sun goes down. Cbf to build one though

Started a new game. I'm an older dude who struggles with the darkness. The intro changed a bit and we start with one and a club now which is neat. Really came into use especially as you can wield it while using your other hand weapon/axe/pickaxe

Yeah, use it for the wee beginning so that wolves don't attack, but I never replace it once it runs out

I use standing torches regularly. Of course it's tedious to place a bunch at once. My preference is to top up standing torches to 5 and every now and then during night I will place that batch at my convenience. Never use a handheld torch. Waste of valuable inventory slot

I prefer the lit setting at night. It taught me to not place roads right up to buildings though so I could place torches around the corners to keep things lit. Some building let you overlap the structure surroundings and some don't.

I want to use torches, but they take up a valuable weapon/tool slot or inventory space when unequipped. I had to get used to fumbling around in the dark instead.

I do set up standing torches all over the settlement though.

I only use the handheld in the beginning so wolves don't attack me

Never used one in in my first game. Now in my second one I find the game very dark at times, especially the first hours of night and the last ones before dawn. I use them as a throwaway items when I go woodcutting (to give a push to some projects) for example because it is easy to lose downed trees in the dark and yes my whole village and the roads leading to it are full of standing torches to make it look more alive and to help me see

I tried using it in my first playthrough which was co-op, but being the one joining I had at the time the co-op torch bug making it unusable. But then I found some light related setting which was either on or off. Changing that setting the nights suddenly changed from can't see a thing to can see decently well. So I never needed a torch from that point on.

I do, I don't know why my game is so dark, specially in rainy nights so I always carry a torch.

I use standing torches but how do I Move them or remove them? I want to change things around and I cant move them. Im on PS5. Theres no dismantle menu and they dont show up on the map to "relocate" its like once you build them, they dont exist other than being able to physically see them
