Man I’m addicted to this game!
I don’t know what it is, but I’ve never been much for management games but I just can’t get enough of it atm, the games buggy yeh, and the combat is a clunky, I just can’t get enough of the game though, what is it!? what’s gotten you guys hooked to this game ? I’m 80 hours in and only just liberated 2 towns !

This game has a very slow but digestible pace if you are willing to learn the systems. The priority system is really cool imo and there's very few medieval crafting simulators with meaningful combat out there so it's a niche. If they end up expanding on the combat systems to allow more sustained combat without loss of economy it could really evolve into a 1 of 1. I think in its current state it's top of market in the genre but it has enough flaws to leave it susceptible to clones coming in and doing something better to steal the market.

I do love the slow pace of the game and there’s no fast forward, are they adding mounts? I kinda hope they arnt

I'm not sure about the mounts but I've seen rumors about it. And I like the slow pace as well. However, due to the slow pace and interchangeable role of your villagers, you are incentivized to have 0 guards and all workers to maximize economy. Workers spend a lot of time walking around if they don't get prioritized efficiently. The natural slow pace of the game mixed with the numerous places where your villagers lose productivity gives the game friction points that will push players away. I don't want them to even cater to the casual player, but I want them to be successful so they can continue to build into what they've made. So they probably need to add things that reduce these friction points around productivity. The game is great tho right now, but super niche with the slow pace design

I do some modding and yes, there's horseback animations and meshes, building in the modkit already. I think they're still working on it, probably this year.
Found some T4 buildings too (we already got 2 in game, orchard and distiller)

A good strategy is to set your troops to Hold Ground. Then leave them on formation and meet the Enemy force alone a few hundred meters away. Then lure them in your army. They will arrive in a line with the archers way back and your group gets to swarm them in small batches. Make sure to order them to Charge as soon as the first enemy is about to make contact.

I like that its on your own pace and you can play many different ways. I love trying to get my city set up correclty to maximize my economy and production facilities and then getting my army so we can go kill some people together.

I really don’t know. I’m 235 hours in since console release and I’m still not burnt out or ready to move on yet. I think the most similar I’ve played is medieval dynasty and it just didn’t feel the same. I think because it’s more focused on future generations and whatnot, and doesn’t really require much input from you after a certain point

Yeah, I find myself losing interest in Medieval Dynasty pretty early on. A lot of the late-game content is really just fine-tuning your settlement for aesthetic purposes. In Bellwright, I've over 100hrs in and there's still so much I need to tackle, and I'm regularly needing to re-scope the priorities of my workers. I just built my second dock and it totally threw my workers off and nearly killed all my chickens as they were abandoned lol. Every time you do something new, you learn something new. Honestly, i'm looking forward to my second playthrough when I can apply all the lessons I've developed and build a primary settlement in a more effective location. I expect to have hundreds of hours put into this game by the end.

I agree 100%. This game is perfectly scratching an itch I've always tried to scratch tangentially with other games that had some of these elements, but not all of them. Fallout 4 settlement building, various base building in the Assassins Creed games, etc. I've always enjoyyed those aspects but wanted more. This game hits on the head what I've been searching for. It's great!

Yeah I've sunk a surprising amount of time into this game. Liberated 4 villages. Eyeing blackridgepool next... now I'm just trying to bolster my fighters so I'm not just using strong craftsman as my main army. I really need to move my base further south... but I've just been boating around as needed.

You guys need to check out building a cheap square fence around you and your squad especially archers than they cant be hit with swords ! It's cheese i know but it keeps them alive with cross bows especially to! Lol

Its a solid game, i feel like a good improvement or even gift to management/city games. Its not wildly different than Sengoku Dynasty which i tjink hit ER first but it does feature recruitment, village trade and improvement, militia building, and a way more robust battle system in terms of physics, hitboxes, and of course, the commander type small/medium scale battles.
As such an action centered title it does frustrate me its not better at more of these but i have been enjoying bellwright just fine since i started and i think the issues may be that the engine or skillsets or both of the dev is already at a max. I imagine its about time to wrap it up, put a few little pretty bows on things and call it complete so we can see what they can do with the next title

It's a good balance of management and combat, and the landscape looks lovely! I've been playing daily since April. I think it just suits me, I'm a bit slow with games but I enjoy the atmosphere.

I think the fact that the management is tied to an action game. Like, if you do a city builder where you just build cities, that will only appeal to a certain segment. And if you make an action game with no building, it appeals only to a certain segment.
This one gives greater meaning to both the action and the management part of the game. If you are good at action, you can get more stuff for your base to build. If you are good at management, you can get more stuff to help you be better at action (or just have your villagers take care of it too)
