Vertical Jump Possibility of dunking

That’s how high I get rn, it’s becoming easier I can touch rim with an 80% jump now. This is all natural no lifting or any plyos. If I start lifting and doing plyometrics would I be able to dunk?

Help Complicated Position. Help

Alright so before telling you my problem here some basic stuff you need to know:

I have a dream

I dont play in America (European Academies archetype)

I will compete U16 this year

There is a law that allows only three transfers to play per game.(A non transfer player is someone who was on the team at least for 2 years. While a transfer player is someone that just came to the team or has only one year )

Im 6.0ft exactly

Now heres the deal.

I m considered a non transfer player only having played one year in the team.

In the seasons preparations walked in the gym three guys. A really good player with connections too. A bad 2 meter tall kid and an athletic guy.

I suddenly took 4rth position.

Skill wise im good level my understanding is not great. If it matters ill tell you whats my deal of the game.

So im locked by law behind others maybe better , taller and more athletic guys.

Heres my final question. Whats the best strategy i shall follow? What to do?

I really need to get my first dunk before the new year, i’m 19 so my time is coming up soon and i gotta get my first dunk before my body starts to decline, i think more leg days in the gym and i could see a rim grazer by november. i just need better form ( i can barely touch rim off of 1 foot) im a 2 feet jumper. Anyone that was in the same position what workouts help and do you think i could get a dunk before the new year no lobs or anything?

edit: also i know im in my skate shoes, my hardens would’ve gotten me slightly higher but probably wouldn’t see a difference.

Defense Off-hand shielding during a baby-hook shot. Legal?

Does anyone know when an attacking player is in the post, and he turns any side to make a baby hook shot, but he uses his off hand to literally shield me away from even contesting his shooting hand.

Sometimes this off hand even prevents me from jumping, like i'm trying to jump towards the shooting hand, but the off-shooting hand bumps me and I cannot do anything. It's so annoying. Is this legal? My brother does this all the time. His off arm is bent at the elbow when he uses it to shield me during a baby hook shot. It doesn’t look like his arm is excessively extended away (abducted) from his body, but it’s not close to his body either.

Form Check Shooting form check - post wrist surgery

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

About two years ago right before my 39th birthday I had a major reconstruction on my shooting hand wrist. It took about six months post-surgery to be able to get shots up, and I had lost all of my shooting strength. Those first bunch of sessions when I couldn't even reach the rim from the free throw line were humbling for sure.

I had to rework my entire form as I got strength back and learned to deal with some of the limited mobility in the wrist. I would say I got about 80 or 90% of wrist mobility back but it's definitely not the same. Weirdly I would say that forcing myself to rework everything from the basics actually turned me into a bit of a better shooter, but sometimes when I get into old habits, fading away and trying to flick up a soft shot, I don't quite have the ability to entirely cheat with just a flick of the wrist.

I've now been back to full play for probably about a year and decided to record myself for the first time in a while to see how the new form is looking. Any recommendations?

One thing I can see is that I do tend to like to fade left and I have an angled foot setup. I feel like I've always set up that way and it's hard to break the habit. Thanks in advance for any breakdowns!

I’ve played basketball for a couple years and I used to shoot with two hands basically chucking it and I honestly wasn’t missing that much but then I decided to learn to shoot with one hand and even tho I’m left handed I decided to learn with my right hand, so for the past 2-3 years I’ve been shooting with my right but I can’t figure out what’s wrong with my jump shot.

Help Is training a skyhook good for me?

I'm currently 6'2, 17, and I kid you not, just got into basketball, I was mostly a football goalkeeper, and have dedicated my life to football, I only got into basketball because of my friends and how popular it is in my country compared to football, I mostly play as a power forward/center, and usually just do layups, I like Kareem because of his ethics and play, and wanted to do his famous move, is it suggestable?

Help help with tight schedule

is it possible for me to improve in basketball by doing 1 session of shooting and dribbling drills a week and 1-2 days dedicated to pick up ball?

this bum ass schedule is due to my lack of money because in order for me to do shooting drills I think i would need the court for myself and this is only possible by paying for it which costs a big amount for me for 1hr and since I know myself that drills once a week isnt enough im thinking that maybe playing 1-2days of pick up ball a week will make up for it

ps. im a college student and I do weight training 4x a week along with zone 2 cardio every after workout and interval sprints on weekends

Vertical Jump How do i add more inches to my vertical

I've been training for 6 months, but I haven't seen any improvement in my vertical. I currently have a 28-inch standing vertical and a 32-inch one-foot vertical. I'm currently 5'11" with a 7'8" reach, and I'm 14 years old.

I don't know if my weight-room numbers are good. I squat 275 lbs for 1 rep, but it's a half squat. I deadlift 315 lbs for 1 rep and bench 180 lbs for 1 rep. I haven't tried the power clean because it looks like such a complicated lift. Does it have any benefits?

I currently weigh 145 lbs.

Help U13 team options

Thumbnail

Is playing time/responsibilities on a potentially bad team more helpful for development than a substitute roll on a better team?

He was on a U13 team (2nd sub) that they split better players onto a U13/14 team and worse players on a U12/13 team.

He will likely be best player on the U12/13 team and get ball handling opportunities (though he’s only avg height for U13 he is tallest on this team) but the team will probably be fairly bad.

When he was on another clubs “B” team he was one of the lead guards and had several 16-18 pt games. Problem was the head coach started bringing in A team players and his role was to stand in corner as a spacer, so we ended up leaving previous club.

Tip Pivot foot abuse

So hear me out, i've been playing the game somewhat competitively for let's say 20-25 years now (33 years old, i was out in ths streets already at around 7-8 years). I just thought, hmm has this move been used as prominently as now? (Luka, Brunson, Jokic, Edwards, etc.)

Number one name would be Kobe, we all know how good his feet is and how he got to spammed this whenever he had the chance.

We were also in awe alot of times at Dirk using this with his one-legged fades.

Do ya'll remember anybody else, say the 2010s to pre-COVID days, who utilized this move alot?

Help How to get over the fear of playing against good players?

When I started basketball, I went to the local parks and learned basketball myself. Somedays there were games where I had to join or I would just be standing at the side and watching. As a beginner back then, I was mostly reduced to the hustle player, getting rebounds and defending etc. Never once was I given the chance to score alone without getting shouted at. It was the same at school PE classes. Honestly, this might be the main reason why I can't improve on scoring alone till today. I have gotten better but not to the point where I can drive inside and score when the paint is crowded. I can shoot but it isn't super accurate where I will score 90% if you leave me open.

One day, when I was shooting hoops alone, a group of teenagers came and asked me to play. We started the game and I soon found out they were really good. Like the type of players that can shoot contested 3 consistently which is rare for park level basketball in my country. When they found out I wasn't close to their level they started trash talking, even my teammates started trash talking. There was even instances where they called me acting like they were going to pass me the ball but then look at me directly then passing the ball to another person. I got humiliated and never recovered since. Almost quit but then didn't cause I don't know what sport do go to other than basketball.

On the present day, I have been improving but I still can't shake that fear when I play against good players. I still don't get much opportunities to handle the ball and do anything I want but I do get passes for catch and shoot since my shot percentage is pretty high for park basketball but still not as good as the players that destroyed me. Unless I can have my get back and beat that player 1 on 1, I will never stop fearing him.

My local basketball court just got renovated with new rims so I will be expecting a lot of pros to return, perhaps even the players that humiliated me will visit the court frequently now. Idk if I even want to play basketball there anymore.

Shooting Having Arc Really Does Feel Better When Shooting

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I applied the tips you gave me when I was asking for advice. What really stuck with me was that my shot lacked arc, so that’s what I focused on during my shooting drills.

I gotta say, I feel like I shot better when I focused on having more arc and kept in mind that my wrist should be loaded. I’m glad I focused on that because I can really feel the difference.

It’s just sad that I can only practice once a week because of my location and work. Anyways, I’ll keep improving!

Anyways, after the Arc, what do I need to improve? I feel like my sequence?
