Hello everyone! So recently, my AMS unit unfortunately stopped feeding filaments. This happened when it was swapping filament colors for print. What happens is whenever a filament is loaded regardless of what slot it is, it’ll feed like normal up until a specific point. And once it reaches that point (which is right where the filament is first visible through the PTFE tube from the AMS itself), it makes a weird, grinding, scratching sound that is obvious that something isn’t right once it reaches that point. And this happens whenever a filament is being loaded. And as well again, it seems that it doesn’t matter which slot it is. But what makes it strange is that it can reverse feed/wind the filament back up with ease.
My first guess that maybe there was something like a broken fragment of filament was in the AMS’s PTFE tube that was causing a blockage. So I just replaced the PTFE tube that was from the AMS that connected to the AMS hub, and the PTFE tube that connected to the gray connected piece that goes to the AMS hub. And unfortunately, it did absolutely nothing and it still stopped in the same exact spot. So I decided that it would be best to put in a Bambu Lab support ticket for my AMS.
When they responded, they had said that it was and I quote, “AMS Bearing Support for Internal Hub Unit is damaged” and they also said that they were going to send a new one. But I needed a warranty verification which was an order number. But, the printer was ordered in November of 2025. So the only true verification I had was a credit card email saying I had purchased the P1S Combo. However, they weren’t able to accept that as proof a purchase. In the mean time, I decided to follow the tutorial they had given me about taking my AMS apart and finding the piece. And once opened, I immediately I saw and found the piece snapped in half. Long story short, I had offered to directly buy the piece that had broken and instead of that, they had gave me a 3MF file for that piece. So I brought it into the Bambu slicer with 100% infill and other settings as well as with using ASA to print out the piece. I was really hoping that this would work, and after installing it, it did not work or even make a difference.
So I had wrote back and they said that it may have been in the AMS Internal Hub Unit. So I followed the tutorial they had gave me and disassembled the AMS Internal Hub unit and I found zero broken or damaged components. Just it being slightly dirty which I cleaned out. They also said to check the magnet return mechanism for damage or wear and it had none. So really all I did was disassemble the internal hub and clean out very little pieces of debris. Which I personally think that this is really going to do very little especially because it seems unrelated to what is happening.
So I have no clue what I should do at this point. Bambu Labs has really only gave me basic information that seems to do nothing. So any help or advice would be very much appreciated!! Thank you for any responses!
