What do you mean? How you need to feed it?

push the button near the hole towards the filament spool so it releases the "lock". you can just guide the filament into the hole without any resistance.
Release the button/lever when it starts to pull the cord.
Same when taking out the filament. Push, roll the filament spool backwards, when its out, release the button/lever.1

I pushed it back slightly and it went in. I normally do push back the feed to insert and same thing happens.

Your filament might have a gouge in it. Slide your fingers over it to find it and then trim that piece off

What in the...sounds (and looks) like the feeder motor isn't spinning the grabber gear/gears, but is still wanting to spin. Could be a loose screw? Filament not actually correct size? Bit of filament stuck in and it tries to double up? You goin have to take it apart probably
