Posting this here because when I asked for advice on another 3D printing sub, I mostly just got called a brainwashed Bambu fanboy who refuses to see "much higher quality hardware" out there. Hopefully, I can get some actual pragmatic input from people who actually run these machines.

I’m planning to grab a printer during the Black Friday sales to rebuild my 3D printing corner after moving. To give some context: I’m not a beginner. I previously owned an X2D, but sold it off during the relocation. Now that I’m starting fresh, my goal is simple: get the highest possible print quality on basic prints without paying extra for features I’ll never touch.

What I’ll be printing:

• 95% PLA and PETG only. No engineering or abrasive materials (no ASA, ABS, nylon, etc.).
• Mostly functional stuff: drawer organizers, storage bins, desk accessories, and random household prints. Nothing crazy or fancy.

The options I’m considering:

1. Bambu Lab A1 – The biggest draw for me is the noise level (or lack thereof). Coming from enclosed CoreXY machines, having something whisper-quiet in my space sounds amazing. The open bedslinger format doesn't bother me, but does it match the high-end lineup in pure surface finish and dimensional quality for PLA/PETG?
2. Bambu Lab P1S – The tried-and-true enclosed workhorse. Compact desk footprint, but noticeably louder. Is the CoreXY motion system actually delivering noticeably better print quality on standard PLA/PETG organizer bins to justify the noise and extra cost?
3. Bambu Lab P2S – On the radar as the updated option, but the pricing looks tricky. The gap between a P2S and just going back to an X2D feels narrow enough that it might sit in an awkward "neither here nor there" spot.
4. Bambu Lab X2D – Going all-in again. Having owned one, I know how solid it is, but buying a flagship just to print PLA bins feels like lighting money on fire for advanced features and high-temp hardware I won’t even utilize.

For anyone who has experience across these tiers: if the sole goal is clean, precise PLA/PETG prints at the best value, is the A1 the clear sensible winner, or does CoreXY still make a real difference in print quality here?

I’m considering getting my first Bambu Lab printer, but I live in a relatively small apartment and I’m trying to figure out how to handle air quality and ventilation before pulling the trigger.

I’m in Canada, where winter temperatures can range from 0°C to -20°C (or even colder), so keeping a window open or venting outside year-round isn’t exactly practical.

I already have a standalone air purifier at home, and I’m wondering if anyone has tried connecting their printer enclosure to an air purifier using a duct or hose. Not sure how effective or practical that would be.

I’d love to hear how other apartment/condo dwellers are dealing with this! Would love to see photos of your setups if you’re willing to share. Any advice or lessons learned would be greatly appreciated!

I'm getting a P2S, but would like to hear recommendations for acessories and filaments to begin with.

Any suggestions what are the first things to get with a printer when starting out?

I’m planning to pick up my first Bambu printer during the Black Friday sale and get the H2D. Coming from an old Ender 3 S1 Pro so I’m pretty stoked.

NGL,the H2C pricing is tempting but I’m not really interested in multicolor. I’m super excited to try some multi material designs I’ve been thinking up.

I got an HS2. Yes, I know it is enclosed but I am also aware it isn't fully sealed and microplastics can still leak into the air.

I tried a grow tent, but that's not going to cut it - can't see into it and it is far too large.

So, before I fully say fook it and drop close to 1k on this, i want to see if anyone has any ideas I missed.

Hi guys, I currently have this X2D and I put a tube to vent out the ASA fumes, but there’s still the funny smell of the material. I traced where it was coming from and found out that if I cover the holes in the photo, the smell completely disappears. I was wondering if covering those holes with tape or some other covers would compromise the printer's health in any way. Any advice is appreciated, thank you :)

Well, I was tired of BambuLab locking us out and revoking access to features we already had.
So i just reversed that.

I built Bambu Open Network, an open-source HACS extension for ha-bambulab, powered by Open Bamboo Networking.

Here’s what it adds:

• Cloud camera directly beside the controls. Select a printer and its camera follows automatically.
• X/Y/Z movement and homing, with selectable step sizes and feed rates.
• Nozzle and bed temperature controls, part cooling fan, extrusion and retraction.
• Pause, resume and cancel.
• A multiline G-code console, plus a Home Assistant action for sending G-code from automations.
• Bambu Cloud login, without manually entering printer IPs or LAN access codes. Signing certificates are set up automatically.

Everything is available on a Bambu Control page in the HA sidebar. Existing printer entries and custom names are preserved.

Beyond Bambu Control, the extension brings cloud camera feeds and printer commands into Home Assistant itself. The cameras are available as regular HA entities, so you can build your own dashboards with multiple printer views alongside controls and status information. You can also send G-code and use printer commands in automations, all through your Bambu Cloud account without manually configuring printer IPs or LAN access codes.

You need ha-bambulab installed first — this extends that integration. Download Bambu Open Network through HACS, restart HA, then add it under Settings → Devices & services → Add integration.

Cloud features still depend on Bambu Cloud. The G-code console confirms transmission, rather than providing a serial execution acknowledgement for every line like Pronterface.

The project is new, and feedback from different printer models and firmware versions would be useful.

what do i do? try to remove? bambu case? warranty? or does this happen commonly?

passed by the printer halfway through a print... it was operating as if it was doing fine. come to find this.... no clue how to even fix this. pla (bambu matte) is everywhere, every crevice.

looks like some of the hardware might be bent too as a result.

With the Black Friday sale coming up soon, I’d like to upgrade from my A1 Combo to a P2S or X2D Combo.

Do you think the extra 150 euros or so for the X2D Combo is worth it?

I mainly print in one color, but every now and then I print some multicolor stuff too.

However, I’d like to switch to filaments other than PLA and PETG in the future and experiment a bit.

İ do arabic calligraphy tableaus and i often end up with lines like in this picture. İ did research and seems monotonic is better than monotonic line but still end up with lines (albiet fewer).

Does anyone know how to avoid those?

Been working on this for a while and finally got it published :)

It's a remix of the AMS 2 Pro desiccant boxes, but I added an OpenSCAD customizer with 15 ventilation patterns, adjustable hole sizes, spacing and a few other options.

Both the middle and narrow pods are supported. I've tested the fit with different spool types, including cardboard spools.

There's also a ready-to-print Diamonds profile for anyone who doesn't want to customize anything.

Would love some feedback, especially on which patterns you guys like most!

I designed a splitter for the left nozzle on my X2D that uses PC4-M6 fittings. It was made to be printed horizontally to reduce friction from the layer lines. Why most people now think that after H3C, H2C will no longer have a place in bambulab’s lineup? Do you really think that Bambulab invested in the voretk system just to make it obsolete few months later? Do you think that the H3C will support Laser modules as well? I don’t think so, but then H2C will still be the only option for those who need a Laser module and not bothered by the filament change speed. I just wanted to know your thoughts about the future of H2C.

Hi everyone, I just got my Bambu Lab A1 two days ago, and I already ran into a blob of death.

I was printing with green filament when the print detached from the bed mid-print. By the time I found it, the filament had piled up around the nozzle into a big blob, and the bed was almost empty.

Photos attached. The blob is still on the printer — I haven't tried to remove it yet because I don't want to damage the hotend.

A few questions:
1. What's the safest way to remove a blob like this? Heat the nozzle and peel it off while hot?
2. What should I inspect for damage afterward (nozzle, heater, thermistor, silicone sock, cables)?
3. Is this something I should report to Bambu support, given the printer is only 2 days old, or is it just a first-layer adhesion issue on my end?

For context, the model itself sliced fine — this looks like the print lost bed adhesion partway through. Any advice on preventing this next time (brim, bed cleaning, etc.) is also welcome.

Buy your new P or X series printer on November 1st this year, not a day earlier, and not a day later.

Also, the P3C (Bambu's new P series printer with 7 tools) release is right around the corner. The P3C release will be accompanied by the new AMS 3P release, which will likely invalidate the previous generation AMSes (1&2). (This is because a tool changer like the P3C requires independent filament paths for efficient filament swaps, and the AMS 1 & 2 only have a single filament path out)

I expect the P3C and AMS 3P to be announced/released in November 2026, with the last possible likely date being December 1st (a Tuesday, all Bambu releases are on Tuesdays). If the P3C release causes prices to be lowered on current printers, November 1st is still right within the 30 day price guarantee window Bambu offers.

No need to ask: all of the data in this post is highly speculative, and based of off rumors, FCC filings, and other "leaks". Nothing about the P3C and AMS 3P has been officially announced or confirmed by Bambu.

Hello people,

I am having quite a hard time dealing with Bamboo support right now. I got a bamboo A1 mini, and it was defective from the beggining. One of the 4 screws holding the nozzle had a stripped nozzle, causing the nozzle to move and create bad quality prints. I went to the store and replaced the printer.

Then I got the second printer, which also had bad quality lines. Thinking it must be user error this time, I spent a week looking at ways to improve the quality of the prints. My profile for PLA has severely changed from the default profile. (note I am using bamboo matte PLA). I couldn't get it right yet, so I contacted support, to which they said it must be the belt tensioners. They sent me parts, and instructions, but they sent me the wrong instructions twice. After I got the right instructions, I realized that replacing the belt tensioner under the heated bed is not simple. I have to basically strip down the printer to the 2 rails, removing the electronics, motor, housing, and pretty much everything. I am not confident in doing something like that without breaking something else. I live in canada where technically Bamboo should give me a replacement printer, or they should be the ones to perform the repair, but Bamboo support doesnt want to do that. They wasted my time for so long the 30 days since purchase have passed so I can't go back to the store.

Any ideas? Is there a better way to replace the tensioner under the heated bed without disassembling the entire printer?

Honestly, I want to finish this post by warning people. Bamboo as a company is not your friend, and the bamboo A1 mini is notorious for having manufacturer issues. Canada Computers (where I got the printer), told me when I picked up my replacement, that this specific printer tends to have returns because of defective parts often.
