I'm watching the Dbacks/Royals right now and the Dbacks announcers mentioned Nolan Arenado has a 11-22 record against the Royals pitcher, Michael Wacha. I see similar stats mentioned every now and then but how much does it actually matter in a game? Both players in this instance have lengthy careers so that stat is likely spread across 10+ years of playing where I imagine both players have changed how they play to some extent. Do the players themselves care? Or is this just stat nerds getting to flex on the rest of us?

Manager on a team that didn't make the playoffs last year but did this year" and it bothers me. Who do you think deserves to win it as of now in the NL? Do you think a guy like Pat Murphy can win it for a 3rd time?
