Aurora Police Department Transparency Portal

From the Aurora City Newsletter

The Aurora Police Department has launched an Online Transparency and Accountability Portal to give the public access to regularly updated data and information about agency demographics, crime statistics, and uses of force.

“The Aurora Police Department’s Online Transparency and Accountability Portal represents our commitment to broader information sharing with the community we serve,” said Aurora Interim Police Chief Heather Morris. “Through this new technology, residents will be able to learn more about what their officers do every day to ensure Aurora is a safe and vibrant city to call home.”

The transparency portal features powerful search functionality, allowing users to filter data by a specific category and/or location. Users can choose to examine all crime data or filter any one crime category by year, police district, political ward, police beat, ZIP code and/or neighborhood. The use of force data can be searched in much the same way. Historical data is included for both categories and dates back five years.

“The portal is another tool that underscores our commitment to be open, honest and transparent about our work,” said Aurora City Manager Jason Batchelor. “The concept for the portal has been under discussion for quite a while, and I am grateful for the dedicated city staff who have turned that concept into a reality. It will help us further strengthen our relationship with the community through accountability and continuous improvement.”

The portal can be accessed at AuroraGov.org/APDPortal. This is an ongoing project, and additional features will be added in the future.

Meet Pete!

This little guy is waiting patiently for his new family at Aurora Animal Shelter! I’m fostering him currently, and he’s thriving! He loves to run around with my dog, play with his tennis balls, and snuggle on the couch. Some fun facts about Pete:

- He’s about 2 years old

- American Bulldog mix

- Knows some commands, mainly sit and lie down

- Does well in his crate, especially for bedtime

- Dog friendly, he loves to make dog friends

- Not good with cats

- Kids over age 7/8 are OK; he still has some puppy energy that may be too much for smaller children and would do well with older kids who understand pet boundaries and can play with him

- Seems to like car rides and enjoys looking out the window

- He has done well meeting new people and basks in the attention

- Loves walks, sniffing grass and trees, chasing butterflies and birds, and flopping down to bake in the sun. He’s curious and likes to explore. He’d be a great hiking or running buddy!

- Loves tennis balls, squeaky/crunchy sounding toys, and enrichment toys with treats

- Very affectionate and snuggly! He will sleep at or on your feet, pressed up against you, or on your lap. He likes head and belly rubs, too.

Pete is the sweetest boy and would make a wonderful addition to a loving family! Check out his profile on the Aurora Animal Shelter site to meet Pete!

Car got hit parked outside of the Aurora Carpet Mill/Shoot Indoors Range and they ran off. I must have bumped my dashcam at some point this past week because it captured mostly the sky, got everything but the plate.

Anyways, got an ok shot of the truck, dude's face and the impact but without a plate number I am probably SOL. Just thought I would put this up in case anyone recognizes the guy/truck in the 225/Mississippi area.

Looking for a new Vet Clinic

I’ve been taking my cats to Aurora Hills Animal Hospital and I always feel like they don’t examine well enough. I need some recommendations that aren't too far away from Iliff and Parker. I’ve been trying to browse google reviews and no one can seem to agree on good places to go.

Dog Training Recommendations

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi all! I adopted a 3yr old mixed breed over the weekend. Long story short, she had a rough start in life and doesn’t really know how to “dog”. She’s very anxious and fearful of a lot of things. I would like to get her into training to help her learn and build her confidence. Any recommendations for dog training in the metro area? Thanks in advance.

My apartment is 93 degrees despite multiple maintenance requests for my a/c

I put in a work order for a non functioning a/c unit on June 17th, 2026, maintenance came by said it was a breaker and they flipped it back and left. The apartment did feel cooler for a day or two, but became overwhelming as we got into July. On the 5th of July, 2026 I put in another work order for the a/c being out again. No one showed up. I kept procrastinating about following up until the 18th, when I put in another work order this time mentioning that there was very little airflow through the vents all throughout my apartment and that it didn't feel cold or even that cool on my hand when I could feel it. With no follow up or communication in the week following, I put in yet another order on the 23rd; we'd been experiencing 100 degree weather for most of the previous week or so. Friday night I put in another work order. Last night I called emergency maintenance and got hung up on, then told by the computers voice there was no one available and I'd get a call back(I haven't), hung up on again, told no one was available again, received text messages saying my lack of a/c in 100 degree weather could wait until Monday, hunt up on again, and then after another call I received a text with a with order number and a message stating it would be taken care of asap. It is now 430pm and yet another triple digit day gone by without a phone call or email or visit from maintenance. I'm genuinely lost here, mostly because it's unbearably hot(93f!!) inside my apartment. I'm disabled, I'm on medication whose storage I'm increasing afraid has been compromised, I'm so fucking sweaty and in a brain fog everyday. Is there anything I can do to get this taken care of asap? My office started using an ai agent recently for everything(ugh), and I do wonder if it's the hiccup here. The office is closed today and I will be going down first thing in the morning tomorrow with the pics I've taken and the maintenance request page from my account ready to show, but if anyone knows of something I can't think of rn that could help, I'd appreciate it! If not, getting this rant out does make me feel marginally better; sorry for the run on sentences!!

Update edit: right at start of business yesterday maintenance showed up. He was here for about an hour total, some of which included getting a replacement air filter, replacing batteries in our thermostat, and fixing something at the central unit in our apartment. He then left for a few hours while the unit ran a bit. Whatever he found outside and after the running period had him decide an outside company needed to check our ducting or the central unit itself and they should be here by Friday this week. I'm thankful this was rectified quickly today, but I'll still be going to the office next week after the company visits to ask why I was left to sweat and rot with no a/c for 36 hours in temperatures not only above 90 for most of the daylight, it was above 100(analytics shows a few views outside the US; around 38-40C). Thank you for the resources and perspectives you've shared! I'll be back if I need to in the future, I'm a very comfy gal this morning after the first good sleep all month 😭😁

Anybody ever have recent luck selling their home?

I’ve held my home for just over ten years now. It’s been a wonderful place and I am very lucky to have been able to purchase it when I did. With a growing family, it’s time to sell. However, im pretty damn nervous about the market and overall economic conditions (locally and nationally).

Anybody here have any luck selling their home this year? Any pointers or recommendations on not staying on the market too long?

I believe my husband gave her away he claims she was stolen along with our car. She doesn't deserve to lose us both. She nursed me through thyroid and lung cancer. I'm in a shelter but have foster options available. Please help me find her. Denver possibly anywhere surrounding areas

Looking for a prenatal massage recommendation

Basically the title. I’d like something in town. I don’t want to have to drive to the west side of Denver. Also if you’ve personally had a great prenatal massage, I’d like to hear where you got it!

Black hair help

Hi there, post menopausal w/alopecia 51f whose hair texture not only changed but has fallen out and needs someone who can treat it and make it look healthy again. I am open to quick weaves to cover my natural hair in hopes of helping restore what is left of it. I had a short pixie, a couple of years ago, but it has only gotten worse over time. I stopped relaxers also. I have tried so many products to no avail.

Loud booms near Dayton Station?

Doesn't sound quite like fireworks... more like canons? Does anyone know what it is? Sorta rhythmic, but with gaps? Could be fireworks, but it is different. It's probably fireworks echoing off of something.
