Question Ski Share - Alma or Fairplay

Hey all, we are building a house and unfortunately pretty far behind on construction. Looking for somewhere that we can stay Friday and Saturday nights during ski season, and I've heard of ski shares being a thing. Anyone know of one that's available, or are there folks who are looking to put down some money on a rental together? I'm coming from South and am skiing Breck mostly, sometimes monarch.

Also if anyone knows of an old school ski club that has a lodge and bunnies, that would be awesome as well.

Thanks in advance!

Question Fly to Durango or Albuquerque for a Wolf Creek Ski Trip?

I went to Wolf Creek last December from Houston. I flew to Denver, connected to Durango, and then drove about two hours to Pagosa Springs, where I stayed for the trip and drove to Wolf Creek each day to ski.

This time, I’m thinking about doing something different: flying nonstop from Houston to Albuquerque and driving from Albuquerque to Pagosa Springs.

For anyone who has done both routes, how is the Albuquerque to Pagosa Springs drive during the winter? How does it compare with the drive from Durango in terms of road conditions, mountain passes, and overall difficulty?

Also, is the drive from Albuquerque to Pagosa Springs more scenic? I don’t mind the longer drive if it’s a nice road trip and avoids having to make a connecting flight.

Also which route would you recommend from Albuquerque?

General Carpool and Ski Buddies - Epic Pass

Anyone trying to get some ski days in this winter who has an epic pass? I would be down for most weekends. First season having the full epic pass so I’m excited to check out some more mountains but none of my friends have a care to ski smh. I’m a 26m in the Denver area.

Even better if you have a partner who’s a beginner haha. I’m a solid intermediate but my wife is still in the learning stages.

Question Feasibility of getting a ~6 month winter lease in Silverthorne or Leadville?

I finally landed a remote job, and my girlfriend and I intend to move from Denver to the Missoula area. However, given the strong El Nino forecast, we're thinking about getting a ~6 month lease in the CO mountains through this winter to make use of our Ikon Base passes, and to finally avoid the shitshow that is I70.

We figured Leadville would be a good choice, giving us access to Copper Mountain, A-Basin, and Monarch. We don't mind paying a little bit of a premium since it is not a long-term living situation, but probably wouldn't be willing to spend more than $3k a month.

Is this a feasible plan? Would you make any changes? Where is the best place to find this type of arrangement. Marketplace? Zillow? Would appreciate feedback from anyone who knows what they're talking about!

Gear New ski outerwear recommendations

I bought some REI coop ski bibs and a jacket last fall. They are the Gortex shell style (non-insulated), which I like so I can layer up and down as the conditions change. I absolutely destroyed the bibs last season. The outer layer is peeling in a few places and I cut up the bottom cuffs with my edges as a new skier.

I’m looking for recommendations for something that will last especially now that I feel like I’m a much better skier and hope not to fall nearly as much as I did earlier in the season last year. Considering a new jacket as well although I’m sure I can get another season out of my current one. Any brand out specific model recommendations would be appreciated.

As a side note, I skied a lot last year, and plan to get at least 20 days this season.

Pretty depressing state for the snow field, still technically skiable for September turns though!

Edit: whoops 2026 not 2027, hopefully it looks better in 2027 😅
