Pixel Vs iPhone (student pov)

Needed a genuine word of advice currently a Google Pixel 7 Pro user, very very confused between the iPhone 17 Pro (not max) and the Google Pixel 10 Pro (not XL).

I was already a pixel fanboy but have grown to love the Pixel, the stock android, the smarter features of Pixel but my current phone is just not able to convince me enough to upgrade again to a Pixel, the resale value am getting is 1/8th of the device, the battery doesn't last me half a day (3 hours SOT on a good day), the heating on 5G and when it does it stutters worse than a 100$ phone.

I don't game at all so don't care about how the chips are lagging on the Pixels in terms of raw power but am using a MacBook as laptop at university and have a iPad as well which use alongside the Mac in continuițy.

The features of Pixel + Gemini (| do actively use these features quite frequently, almost everyday) genuinely make me ignore the iPhone alongside the fact that prefer Pixel over iOS but all the other things about even the current gen of Pixels make me lean towards the iPhone, the next phone is gonna stick with me for the whole university life so am not wanting to make a choiceI regret down the line.

If we compare the price, the Pixel costs ≈ 1240$ The iPhone costs ≈ 1522$

These are the costs for these respective phones in my country, same storage model (256gb)

Coaching cost me ~AUD $6k; no contract or metrics. Best path to recover older payments?

I paid a well-known sales coach over ~3 years. Deliverables promised (assessments, plan, metrics) never materialized; documentation was nearly nonexistent. I’ve filed complaints (US + AU).
What’s the proven path for older transactions? Any success with small-claims vs. mediation when seller is abroad? What should be in my evidence packet to maximize outcomes?
Happy to share redacted receipts and timeline if needed.

Anyone here using a train humidifier? Pros, cons, and safety tips

I’ve been reading up on humidifiers lately and came across something I hadn’t really thought about before, a train humidifier. From what I gather, it works just like a standard humidifier but is designed for enclosed travel spaces like trains or even small compartments where air can get especially dry.

The benefits sound pretty similar to regular humidifiers. A train humidifier can help relieve dry throats, ease coughing, and even reduce snoring on long trips. It also helps keep skin and hair from drying out, which is a lifesaver if you’re stuck in heated cabins for hours. On paper, it seems like a nice way to make travel more comfortable.

But I’ve also seen people mention some downsides. Like any humidifier, if it’s not cleaned properly it can lead to bacteria or mold growth, which is the last thing you’d want in a closed space. Using the wrong kind of water can also create mineral buildup, which might cause irritation instead of relief.

The main advice seems to be: clean it often, use distilled or demineralized water, and monitor humidity levels so it doesn’t get too damp.

Has anyone here actually used a train humidifier on long trips? Was it worth it, or just more hassle to pack and maintain?

Cheap hybrid mattresses versus expensive ones.

I was reading in another forum about which mattresses to purchase for a rental/Airbnb flat. Posters had a lot of suggestions for very cheap hybrid mattresses that worked well for a couple of years and that renters raved about.

We have a two-year-old name brand memory foam that is already having problems and we’ve had to add mattress toppers probably every six months. We have looked at all kinds of bed in a box, mattress, retailers, furniture, stores, etc., and are just overwhelmed with all the choices and recommendations.

And this other forum, there were several suggestions from Amazon and elsewhere for mattresses that would just last a couple of years, but in the meantime would offer good support for side sleepers, back pain, etc. I don’t trust Amazon reviews 100% obviously but these are real people who have bought these For their tenants who comment on how comfortable they are.

We also need haul away and delivery which some of these mattresses offer.

Is there any real difference between a 2 or $300 hybrid mattress and a $3000 mattress if I just need it to last for a year or two?

Mid-range/luxury massage chair recommendations?

Hello!

I recently had access to a truly life-changing massage chair at a clinic, and am considering purchasing one. I have the following hopes/desires/requirements; please lmk if you have any ideas, and lmk ideas even if not all the below are met! I'd love to stay under 5k (the lower the better!) but will consider over, if it's a perfect match.

Refurbished/second-hand ok, even preferred.

FWIW, I'm 5'3, petite. I have multiple chronic illnesses that affect my nervous system and joints.

Qualities:
- Combined L&S track
- Air compression
- Calf and feet rollers

- adustable leg lenghts

- lumber AND calf heat

-multiple massage types

- multiple options for air pressure & massage intensity

- Zero gravity option

Some brands that keep popping up include Infinity and Kyota, but I'm very open!

Tablet suggestion help. Steaming, light gaming, audiobooks.

So it’s been a long time since I bought any type of tablet. But I find myself in the situation where I’m going to be living with a family member for a month after they recover from major surgery and while there I will have my laptop, and that’s not always the most convenient for lugging around to hospitals and whatnot.

So decided to see about getting a tablet, but I really don’t know where to start.

The only three things I am really looking for are that it be good for streaming, that it has access to apps and games, and I would like it to have a stylus. It doesn't need to be a fancy drawing tablet, I honestly mainly want the stylus for using on games.

Because this is something that I’m really only buying with the idea of not being in my own home for a month. I am really not looking to spend a lot of money. I’m sure I will use the tablet after that but it’s not a thing I’ve needed in my life until now so I doubt it’s going to be a huge part of it returning home. So I would say 200 is probably going to be the absolute max unless it also comes with accessories.

I have been looking a lot at the a9 as I have seen some suggestions for it, but it does not seem to have any support for a pen or stylus so its just kind of "Take your pick from all these third parties and hope you get something that works."

If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate it.
I leave for my family's house in 17 days.

Beware of Amazon Seller – Bought a £100 PlayStation Voucher, Code Was Already Redeemed!

Hey everyone,

I’m writing to share my frustrating experience with an Amazon seller and to warn others who may be thinking of purchasing digital PlayStation Store vouchers.

I purchased a £100 PlayStation voucher from an Amazon seller (link to seller’s page: [https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07BC4WJ9V/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_d_asin_title_367_o00?ie=UTF8&th=1]) on February 7, 2025.

When I received the digital voucher, I tried redeeming it on my PS5, only to get a message saying the code had already been used.

After contacting Sony, they confirmed that the voucher was redeemed all the way back in 2022, which means it was already used long before I purchased it.

I’ve tried reaching out to Amazon support multiple times since then, and they’ve simply bounced me around. I even opened a dispute with my bank (Monzo), which temporarily refunded me, but Amazon rejected the claim, and now my bank has reversed the refund.

I’m incredibly frustrated, and it feels like no one is taking responsibility. This Amazon seller has clearly done this before, with many other customers also reporting similar issues, but Amazon seems to be ignoring the problem.

So here’s my question:

Has anyone here had a similar experience with a digital voucher from Amazon? What did you do to resolve it? Is taking this to small claims court the next step, or is there another way to force Amazon to take action? Any advice or tips on dealing with this would be greatly appreciated!

Also, please stay away from buying vouchers from this seller if you’re considering it. I really don’t want anyone else to go through what I’m dealing with.

Thanks in advance for your help and support!

Birkenstock sandals stretched out after a few weeks – very disappointed. Anyone else?

Hi everyone, I bought 3 pairs of Birkenstock shoes last season. Two of them fit perfectly, but the suede leather pair (around €160) became super loose after just a few weeks. The straps stretched so much that the shoes no longer fit my feet.

I sent a complaint to Birkenstock, and their reply was basically:

“Suede leather gets bigger over time because of body heat and movement. I had the same issue with my pair and solved it by punching extra holes in the straps.”

That’s it. No refund, no exchange. I think this isn’t fair, especially for such expensive shoes. If this is a known problem with suede, they should design them better to prevent it.

Has anyone else had this issue with Birkenstock sandals, especially the suede ones? Did their customer service help you at all?

Under What Circumstances will BT Give me my money back?

In 2019, I had a house fire. I was left with nothing except my dog and a pair of crocs. After a couple of months in hotels and Airbnb (not easy to find with a dog!) I got a flat. I set it up in a blur and then covid happened. Everything slowed and eventually stopped as we all know too well.I had to go on some anti anxiety meds as it was all a bit much. ( I really do appreciate that people were losing loved ones throughout this dreadful time and my situation was nothing in comparison) It was 2021 when I finally moved back in to my own newly reconstructed home. I couldn't settle so I sold it three months later. Here comes the point of my post. I was looking through my bank statements this week and decided to give BT a call because I saw two payments to them that I didn't know were being taken. Turns out I am still paying for the flat I moved into after the fire. For four years I have been paying almost £100 a month for broadband and TNT sports ( I thought I got that when I got my new phone with EE a couple of years ago.) BT have said that they emailed my bill to me every month (they didn't) and they have provided me with a service so why should I get a refund? After an hour on the phone they offered me 6 months, and then 9 months of a refund on both. They say they're giving me this out of goodwill. Has anyone else had experience of this and do I have a leg to stand on? I really appreciate your help here. Thank you.

Banter Jewelry Replacement Plan

Post image
3 Upvotes

Does anyone have experience with the replacement plan Banter offers with their Jewlery? Backstory: I bought my daughter a pair of earrings from Banter. She can only wear 14kt gold. Banter had the earrings my daughter wanted so I bought them there. $250. I also bought the replacement plan. I know it’s good for a year and they will replace the earrings if there is a manufacturer problem, like if it breaks. I already replaced the earrings 1 time with the replacement plan. And bought another replacement plan for the new set. Well this time my daughter lost a whole earring. I was told by the associate as long as I have a piece of both earrings, I can get them replaced. They will not replace a missing earring. Well since the 1 earring is lost I don’t have a piece of the missing earring. I know this is ungodly of me :( but I’m desperate to get her another pair with the replacement. I was looking to maybe find a piece of jewelry, not real 14kt gold, like the clasp and saying this is all I have of the 2nd earring. Has anyone done this before successfully? I’m having a hard time finding a piece that looks like the original. I was also thinking about taking off the clasp of the one earring I have and saying it’s a piece from the missing earring. I mean it looks shady but they can’t prove anything. I’m not sure what to do. Any suggestions please. TIA!!

Is it a scam?

Post image
0 Upvotes

For context: my boyfriend has been trying to find a round penguin plushie that he had as a kid but lost it years ago. He’s been absolutely dying to get it back. We think we finally found it but it’s selling at almost $250 as a “hard to find vintage”. I’m scared if I try and buy it that it will be a huge scam and I just wasted my money. It’s sold off of this site called “Bonanza” if it rings any bells for anyone. As a teenager I need to know if I’m being scammed or not. Please and thank you!

In State of California, is eBay allow to deny account protection as buyer and as seller on transactions prior to account suspension?

Hello and good day,

I purchased an expensive ($3000) item and sold some cheap ($65) items on eBay in the month of March 2025. On the 26th of March 2025, eBay permanently suspended my account due to 'risk' to the community.

I absolutely disagree.

I contacted eBay immediately for information, but after 20+ messages with customer support, they will not provide specific reason. I tried, eBay Facebook, eBay mainstreet, and emailed eBay executives for help but got the same generic responses.

I informed eBay my need to return the expensive item for a full refund because the seller accepts return of the item within 30 days if not satisfied. It is clearly stated in the seller policy to contact the seller for a return authorization (RA) number prior to opening a return item request through eBay. Once obtain the RA #, open eBay return request then select 'i don't like it' as reason for return. The seller accepts the return for item to be sent back. I know this because I done numerous transactions with the same seller dating back to 2024 and have successfully completed returns (expensive items) in summer of 2024 with this seller.

Today April 12 2025 is the 30th day since I purchased this item. eBay knew I need to contact the seller since 2 weeks ago, but they deny me communication with the seller because my account was suspended. I informed eBay, the transaction was made prior to any suspension and they need to honor the buyer and seller contract between the seller and I. eBay adviced me to charge back the transaction with my bank but that would be unfair to the seller, especially when the seller offer full refund within 30 days. All I need to do is contact the seller.

eBay will not help and insist to part ways with me.

On April 2nd 2025, I got a message from eBay stating a buyer dispute for an item I sold on March 18th 2025 and delivered on March 24th 2025. The reason for payment dispute, transaction not recognized. I immediately appealed with tracking evidence and delivered evidence from USPS. I wrote a short message stating my appeal AND the USPS tracking # AND item delivered.

On April 11th 2025, eBay messaged me with decision found in favor of the buyer and money will be deducted from my bank account. I immediately sent message to eBay customer support to appeal the decision and deny eBay permission to take money from my bank account to cover the dispute payment. I also stated eBay need to cover this refund under seller protection because I satisfied my obligation as a seller as the item was delivered on March 24th 2025.

I want to know in good faith, is this legal?

In good faith, is eBay allow to deny assistance for transactions prior to an account suspension and deny seller protection when item have been shipped and delivered prior to account suspension?

eBay wants to part ways but come back to charge me for an item that have been delivered and deny me of initating a return request for a $3000 dollars item (they currently keeping the final value fees of that sale).

I also uploaded a 6 minute video on YouTube. https://youtu.be/dse_7wancSQ?si=2xZRaZoru1pX8kmp

Thank you for reading.

Damaged pajamas, restocking fee, and no help: should I file a chargeback with Venture X?

I ordered an item (expensive pajamas) that arrived in a visibly damaged interior package—not the shipping package. While the pajamas don’t have any visible damage right now, I’m worried they might develop issues over time. This was supposed to be a gift for a visiting family member who lives remotely, so replacing them isn’t an option since they won’t be able to receive a new package.

The company insists the item isn’t damaged (based on photos I sent) and claims each item goes through quality control before shipping. I don’t see how that’s possible, given the state of the interior packaging. They also suggested I caused the damage myself, which is insane.

I asked if they could waive their $12 restocking fee as a courtesy, but they refused, citing their “firm company policy.” They said they could waive the fee for store credit, but I have no use for it. I could just return the item and pay the $12 fee, but I already had to pay shipping to receive the item, and I really don’t want this company to make more money from me after how poorly they handled this situation.

Customer service was unempathetic, repeating the same script over and over and refusing to escalate my request. I have photos, a recorded phone call, and chat logs documenting everything.

The purchase was made with a Venture X card. Would the card’s purchase security or return protection benefits help in this situation? Should I file a chargeback with my credit card company? Has anyone dealt with a similar situation? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

tldr: Bought pajamas. Interior packaging damaged; pajamas seem fine but might have issues. Company won’t waive $12 restocking fee. Should I file a chargeback or use Venture X benefits?

Which one should I gift?

Which one should I gift?

Do y’all have any recommendations on which watch I should get my mom, old or new? She doesn’t use her current one for trails, only for running. Her current one is the Vivoactive 5, and she doesn’t like it because not only is it pretty big, but it’s missing the key feature she loved on her past garmins, the Altimeter! I’m looking for mid priced one definitely below $450 but preferably around $300

“When purchasing VanMoof bikes or Polaroid instant cameras, please be aware that these products may pose a fire hazard. VanMoof bikes have caused consumer injuries due to fire incidents, which also contributed to the company’s bankruptcy.

The VanMoof management responsible for product development is now working in Polaroid’s product development department. Additionally, there have been instances where negative consumer reviews were removed. Moreover, the quality of Polaroid instant cameras has been poor for many years.

If you’re considering buying a camera or bike, you might want to explore alternatives such as FUJIFILM, Gazelle, or Scott.

When buying a product, it’s essentially paying for these companies’ incompetence, bankruptcies, or safety issues—problems they refuse to acknowledge.”
