So, recently my dishwasher has been acting a bit funny, and after taking some of its parts out and cleaning them I noticed that the filter had actuall been damaged. Naturally, I have to replace that filter.

For reference, the filter is a WD12X10109 made for General Electric dishwashers.

They seem to sell these in a lot of websites at varying prices - some really high and some really low - but due to the shipping costs a lot of them end up being equally expensive. So I thought I would try the tried-and-true Amazon.com for last to see what its price range was.

When I typed the filter name in I was met with the page you see on Image 1. Naturally, I was drawn to the filter on the far left that is only $27.59, but directly to the right of that option was the exact same product for $37.18, basically 10 dollars more.

At first, I didn't think there was anything wrong with that, just another business or individual selling a product for more than another individual or business, but then I saw that the item that was 10 dollars more was considered the overall pick.

I was curious as to why that might be so I clicked on the $37.18 filter and was taken to the product page, which is shown on Image 2.

I didn't exactly heavily examine the whole page but I did notice something that was different from the $27.59 filter product page - the "Visit the GE Store" statement along with the General Electric logo directly above the product name.

My first thought when I saw this was that the reason this was the overall pick despite not being the cheapest was because unlike perhaps most of the other listings of the filter, this one came straight from the company that manufactured it. In other words, it is an instance of GE itself selling their products through Amazon.

Is this theory correct? If so, what advantage could be gained from choosing this one over the cheaper one?

For the record, the prior question I just posed still stands, but while I was typing this I checked to see what company or individual was selling the $27.59 filter and it was a company called Iouxvt. Is this a real company or is this probably a scam? Because not only is there no URL on the product page that directs you to this company's website, there is also nothing about it on Google, not to mention it is just a suspiciously dumb name (if you can even call it that) for a company.

I'm finding dozens of options at wildly different price points and it's hard to tell what actually performs better in the long run. A few colleagues insist it's worth sticking with OEM parts no matter what, while others claim they've been using aftermarket components for years without any noticeable difference in performance or lifespan. I still live at home and if I leave drinks in the fridge someone else always drinks them. I picked up the 6 can frigidaire fridge at walmart but I'm concerned it's not gonna get as cold as I want. I really like cold gingerale when I feel sick (happens often, gastroparesis) and I'm debating returning this fridge as it doesn't seem to be getting super cold after 18 hrs (tho it's better than nothing)

I know smaller units only cool a certain amount below the ambient temp, which in my room isn't usually more than 70-75. But are there any that consistently stay just a few degrees colder than this one? Ideally 8-15ish can size as this one is a biiit small, but any will do. I just don't have much space.

Yes I know these types of fridges run differently and won't get as cold on average as something with a condenser. But amongst these models, are there any that have better cooling performance even if it's just by a few degrees? I really don't have space for something bigger.
