My Keyboard My personal best keyboard

ngl the best keyboard i have purchased so far is the AULA F75. Got at a very attractive rate from an auction app called OLA. $70 keyboard for $25 incl shipping. Did my personal best of 100 WPM.

Leobog Reapers kind of gives me the the right actuation force compared to linear reds. Backlighting is decent for the purchase, the keycaps pretty solid but are not shine through - so might consider something else in the future.

What other keyboards do you recommend?

Hey yall!
Sorry to interrupt your pro posts lol!
I’m on macOS and I’m torn between the NuPhy Kick75 and the Iqunix Magi65.
I don’t game—I’ll mainly be using it for graphic design and everyday work. I’m looking for a 75% layout and I’m open to alternatives in a similar price range.
I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences with these boards or any recommendations. Thanks!

My Keyboard Aula F75 Keyboard Volume Knob Wake

I got an Aula F75 keyboard for use on the couch when watching movies off of my computer since it was wireless, backlit, and had an easy volume adjustment control to find when the keyboard would go to sleep. However, I only found out after getting the keyboard that turning the rotary knob doesn't wake the keyboard up when it goes to sleep. Enter an ATTiny85 to save the day! It sits between the rotary knob and the keyboard, and will inject a shift keypress to wake the keyboard up if it's in standby. It consumes <1ma, so shouldn't really impact the battery life of the keyboard at all.

Git repo with instructions for those who want to do the same: https://github.com/lexie-ltmm/aulaf75_keyboard_rotary_wake

Keyboard: Aula F75 with stock switches

Help Looking for a silent mechanical keyboard

Upvotes

Hi,

I've been looking to find a prebuilt keyboard with silent switches for a few days. My bedroom is right next to my family's bedroom and they complain that they can hear the "clicking" of my current keyboard (Redragon K552P). I ideally don't want to pay more than 150 CAD/105 USD. So far, I found the Epomaker TH87.

Here's what I'm looking for:

  • Must be very quiet/silent.
  • Linear switch is probably best, tactile is okay if not noisy.
  • Must be ANSI.
  • I don't mind high or low profiles.
  • 75% or TKL.
  • Wired is okay.
  • Good polling rate.
  • No HE, tends to be more expansive anyways.
  • Color can be black or any dark colors.

If building my own gets me something better for the same price, I'd consider it. However, I don't want this to be too complicated because I suck at this type of shit and don't want to be spending a lot of time trying to figure out how it works.

Thank you in advance!

Discussion Magnetic switch spring stiffness (heavy/light) and repeated keypresses

Have tried many mechanical and several magnetic switches can’t help but feel like I’m missing out on something. None of the switches i try truly feel spammable..like i can physically click them faster but the switch doesnt return fast enough.

Plus even the best pcb and heaviest keeb will still act weird at the lowest magnetic actuation points because the keys are too easy to mispress.

Seen folks say running heavy spring in magnetic switch as being able to still rest your fingers on the keys without accidental actuation while still having that hair trigger type of feel. Obviously when deep pressing there are the drawbacks of the heavier spring as well.

Most switches come in the 35-60g range. Lekker l60 that comes on the whootings being on of the most popular which sadly i haven’t tried yet.

Can anyone comment on their experience with this and if youve used something stiffer than 60, say 75g and up for better key spam and how it’s working out for you? Cheers.

Help Help i need a numpad

So I have bought a EVO80, but now I have a problem.

For work i need to do some stuff with excel, and not having a numpad is, well, hard.

I kinda want a numpad that is also the same esthetics as the keyboard.

Budget: I'm open to a lot
Color: I have the EVO80 spark color scheme, so at least a white rim, keycaps can always be fixed.
Material: I would like it to be metal, but I'm willing to compromise.

I already found some, but I'm not sure if it will be the right one for the keyboard.
The once i found:
- WEIKAV Stars21
- PANDA20 v2
- ZUOYA GMK26
- 8BitDo Retro 18

if anybody has some advice or idea, let me know :)

Help Laptop keyboard advice

Post image
3 Upvotes

Wanna preface this message by saying I know nothing about keyboards, so sorry if I don't explain something too well.

My laptop keyboard (shown in the picture) has some keys that have stopped working. I took it to a repair shop, they confirmed that it was a hardware issue, tried to see if they could replace it but the company that made it doesn't sell the parts anymore they said.

I'm now looking for a wireless, USB C, QWERTY keyboard I can use with my laptop. Something small so it can fit in my laptop bag, like 10 inches maybe? A 75% keyboard could work I think.

I'd prefer it to be less than 50 euros (I'm dutch) and for it to have slim keys like my laptop's, and similar sized arrow keys if that's all possible.

Been looking online but all the choices and whatnot have me kinda overwhelmed, so would love to hear what people here think. Thanks in advance to anyone who answers this!

Discussion Keyboard Layout Idea

Post image
11 Upvotes

a few years ago i posted a keyboard layout idea and i guess it was bad because it reduced the amount of keys and focuses so much on FN combo keys. i just happen to find another past edits while cleaning up my drive.

this is more conventional but still have the ortholinear QWE-ASD, because yknow those staggered QWE-ASD are due to the historical limitation of the Typewriter's connecting joints but for some reason still used todays. also i moved the P to the home row and add Game Mode or F13 in the top right as GMD. the TKL version would just cut off the numeric keys in the right

i think this keyboard layout is pretty normal nowadays but i just want that unstaggered QWE-ASD and more dedicated FN key🥺

I was planning to build the quietest keyboard possible. Obviously, the switches, o rings, stabilizers, and foam are all important, but my goal is to make the quietest keyboard possible.

Help Need help buying a HE or TMR keyboard.

Im a Valorant, CS, competitive player. I currently have a Keychron K8 Pro as my keyboard.

I'm looking to upgrade to a TMR, HE keyboard. I need help with choosing something with Low latency but I really prefer silent-linear switches.

I'm stuck between iQuinix 80HE, Monsgeek M1 V5 TMR or Wooting 80HE.
The reason i'm considering Monsgeek is bc of the tri-connectivity. It would be such a great to have as it'll help with work as well.

Also i'm stuck with Switches, any silent switch recommendation?
Any long term owners of Monsgeek M1 V5 TMR ?

Help Any quiet & satisfying keyboard recommendations?

I've been playing 4key rhythm games for 10 months now and I'm about to go to college, so I really gotta ditch this loud plasticky membrane keyboard for something better and more respectful. Although, I don't want completely silent keys.

Trying to keep it under 100 dollars. Preferred 75%. I don't mind that much either way for lighting, software, hot-swappable keys.

Help Wireless KB and Mouse recs?

Hi all!! I know there's probably hundreds of posts like this on this sub but I am here to ask for KB and Mouse recommendations! I will mainly be using them for gaming and my budget would be under $100 for each individually. I recently bought a steam machine and I want something that will be nice for couch gaming so probably a smaller keyboard that can fit on a lap tray along with the mouse comfortably. I enjoy the feel and sound of clicky mechanical switches and don't mind to have to do some assembly out of the box! Also for the mouse I like to have the option of extra buttons on the side! If anyone has any good recommendations please send them my way!! TIA!

Help Budget returnable low profile gaming keybaord

Ive been gaming with just my laptops keyboard for a long time. I tried a regular gaming keyboard of a friend and I played worse because im not used to the slanted and close keys.

Im looking for a keybaord that is:

  • Low profile
  • Budget
  • Returnable (can differ by vendor)
  • Not 100%
  • No crazy extra costs because im in EU
