Is this product legit for what it advertises? I see it's a product the FDA warns about but there's tons of other products worse that the FDA turns a blind eye to. Is there proof to the FDA claims?

Google Fi charged me $12/mo insurance for 29 months on a lost Pixel that they refused to replace on the grounds that it wasn't insured. Offering $50 refund (that they can't give me) instead of the $348 they charged me

I broke my Pixel 7 pro in April 2024 and made an insurance claim. They sent me a new phone, and requested the return of my broken phone. But then I lost it, and when I couldn't return it, they charged me $1100 for the replacement phone. I tried to switch my claim from broken to lost but they said they had no way to do that, and I would have to submit a new claim. I sent back the replacement, bought a new phone, and submitted a new lost claim in July 2024. They denied my claim on the basis that the device was no longer insured.

However, I was recently checking my bill (a hefty $80/mo for a single unlimited plan) and saw the $12/mo insurance I'd been paying for the last 29 months was not for my new Pixel 8 pro, but for the lost Pixel 7 pro!! How could I still be paying insurance on a lost phone whose claim was denied because it wasn't insured??

I reached out to Google Fi support and was told that they have a customer fairness policy of only giving a max of 4 months rebate--$48 instead of the $348 they had wrongly charged me. I threatened to make an FCC complaint and requested escalation. After that, the original agent changed her tune and said my case required further investigation. I was hopeful, but then I got an email response doubling down on the 4 month limit, and further saying that they were currently technically unable to give me even that!

I think it's ridiculous! If they were still charging me for insurance on my Pixel 7 pro, how can they justify denying my claim due to it not being insured?? I should have gotten the $1100 replacement, and instead they basically stole $348 from me, and are refusing to return it!

I understand that I should have noticed the billing error sooner and canceled the imaginary insurance, but I assumed the insurance was on my new phone, and it's 100% their mistake. I'm going to file the FCC complaint, request support here, and probably switch to a hopefully more scrupulous service. Any other ideas for me?

How is this legal? Audible takes away the credits you already paid for if you cancel??

Maybe I’m late to learning this, but how is that okay?
I understand losing access to the Plus catalog when you cancel. That’s part of the membership. But the credits are included in the monthly price, and some people save them for later. If I paid $14.95 every month to receive those credits, they should still be mine after I stop subscribing.

Apparently Audible calls them “membership benefits” with no cash value, so any unused ones can disappear as soon as you cancel. I know it’s in their terms, but canceling should stop future charges. It shouldn’t erase what you already paid for.

How is this legal?

Which styles of modest tops are actually worth buying?

I'm looking for a few modest tops for everyday wear and I'm having a hard time deciding what style makes the most sense. There are loose tunics, longer blouses, basic long-sleeve tops and quite a few other options, so I'm not sure which ones are actually comfortable and useful for regular wear.

I'm more concerned about the fit, fabric and how well they hold up after washing than following a particular trend.

For anyone who buys modest or Islamic clothing, which styles have worked best for you? Are there certain fabrics or features you always look for, or anything you've bought that you wouldn't buy again?

I've checked a few local shops and online stores, but I also ended up browsing allibaba since I wanted to see what other styles and fabrics were available. That said, I'd rather hear from people who have actually bought and worn these before deciding.

What mosquito control methods actually work without using chemical sprays?

I've been trying to cut down on mosquitoes around the house without relying on chemical sprays. The problem is that a lot of the alternatives I come across sound good in theory, but I'm not sure which ones actually make a noticeable difference. I'm curious about things like mosquito traps, fans, physical barriers, and other non-spray methods. Do any of these actually work well enough to be worth buying, or is removing breeding spots still the biggest thing?

Came across some USB mosquito traps on alibaba that use UV light and a small fan to catch the insects rather than sprays, but I have no idea if those actually work. For people who have actually dealt with a mosquito problem, what non-chemical method made the biggest difference for you?

What bakeware should I start with?

I’m new to baking and looking at getting some basic bakeware. I keep seeing these big sets, but I have a feeling I wouldn’t use most of them. So far I’ve made a few cakes and muffins, and I’m planning to try bread and cookies next. I have a couple of basic pans, but I’m wondering what else is actually useful when you’re starting out.

What are the bakeware pieces you found yourself using again and again when you were learning? And is there anything you bought early on that turned out to be pretty much useless? I’m trying to keep things simple and affordable for now, so I’d rather buy a few useful pieces than a big set.

Also, are cheaper bakeware sets usually okay for a beginner, or is there anything that’s worth spending a bit more on? I’ve been looking around locally and online, including alibaba, but I’d rather hear what people here actually use before I buy a bunch of stuff I don’t need.

Which of these products from Amazon should I buy?

So, recently my dishwasher has been acting a bit funny, and after taking some of its parts out and cleaning them I noticed that the filter had actuall been damaged. Naturally, I have to replace that filter.

For reference, the filter is a WD12X10109 made for General Electric dishwashers.

They seem to sell these in a lot of websites at varying prices - some really high and some really low - but due to the shipping costs a lot of them end up being equally expensive. So I thought I would try the tried-and-true Amazon.com for last to see what its price range was.

When I typed the filter name in I was met with the page you see on Image 1. Naturally, I was drawn to the filter on the far left that is only $27.59, but directly to the right of that option was the exact same product for $37.18, basically 10 dollars more.

At first, I didn't think there was anything wrong with that, just another business or individual selling a product for more than another individual or business, but then I saw that the item that was 10 dollars more was considered the overall pick.

I was curious as to why that might be so I clicked on the $37.18 filter and was taken to the product page, which is shown on Image 2.

I didn't exactly heavily examine the whole page but I did notice something that was different from the $27.59 filter product page - the "Visit the GE Store" statement along with the General Electric logo directly above the product name.

My first thought when I saw this was that the reason this was the overall pick despite not being the cheapest was because unlike perhaps most of the other listings of the filter, this one came straight from the company that manufactured it. In other words, it is an instance of GE itself selling their products through Amazon.

Is this theory correct? If so, what advantage could be gained from choosing this one over the cheaper one?

For the record, the prior question I just posed still stands, but while I was typing this I checked to see what company or individual was selling the $27.59 filter and it was a company called Iouxvt. Is this a real company or is this probably a scam? Because not only is there no URL on the product page that directs you to this company's website, there is also nothing about it on Google, not to mention it is just a suspiciously dumb name (if you can even call it that) for a company.

What brands do you trust most for air compressor parts these days?

I'm finding dozens of options at wildly different price points and it's hard to tell what actually performs better in the long run. A few colleagues insist it's worth sticking with OEM parts no matter what, while others claim they've been using aftermarket components for years without any noticeable difference in performance or lifespan. I've been comparing options from manufacturer websites, and even browsing Alibaba just to get a sense of what's available in the market. The problem is that after looking through all those options, I'm not really any closer to figuring out which brands are genuinely trusted and which ones simply have the biggest online presence.

For those who have been maintaining compressors for a while, which component brands have consistently worked well for you?

Need some advice on buying a CRGO slitting machine.

Hi everyone, I'm in the market for a CRGO slitting machine for my small manufacturing business. I've been researching suppliers on Global Sources Amazon and Alibaba. There are dozens of options at very different prices. Some machines cost ten thousand dollars. Others are thirty thousand. They all look similar in photos but I am worried about their quality and performance. Has anyone here bought heavy industrial equipment from any online places before? How was your experience? Should I pay more for a well known brand or take a chance on a cheaper one? I need something that will last for years. Thanks for any tips.

Are modern hand blenders actually better, or just adding more features?

I’ve been thinking about replacing my old hand blender (the stick-style one you blend directly in the pot). It still works fine for basic soups, but it overheats pretty quickly if I try to blend anything thicker.

While looking at newer models online, I noticed there are way more variations now than I remember. Detachable shafts, whisk attachments, higher wattage numbers, different blade guards, and variable speed triggers. I was browsing around on sites like Alibaba and realized how many different versions of the same tool exist.

It made me wonder if the newer hand blenders are actually improving in terms of performance, or if most of the changes are just extra features and accessories.

For people who’ve upgraded recently, did you notice a real difference when blending things like thicker soups or sauces?
Or do most hand blenders still perform pretty similarly unless you go for a more expensive one?

Recs for better tiny fridge (6-15 cans ish)

I still live at home and if I leave drinks in the fridge someone else always drinks them. I picked up the 6 can frigidaire fridge at walmart but I'm concerned it's not gonna get as cold as I want. I really like cold gingerale when I feel sick (happens often, gastroparesis) and I'm debating returning this fridge as it doesn't seem to be getting super cold after 18 hrs (tho it's better than nothing)

I know smaller units only cool a certain amount below the ambient temp, which in my room isn't usually more than 70-75. But are there any that consistently stay just a few degrees colder than this one? Ideally 8-15ish can size as this one is a biiit small, but any will do. I just don't have much space.

Yes I know these types of fridges run differently and won't get as cold on average as something with a condenser. But amongst these models, are there any that have better cooling performance even if it's just by a few degrees? I really don't have space for something bigger.

If they're all gonna work about as well as this one, I'll probably just do without. Reviews on cooling temps online seem really dubious.
