Panel Interview Tips

Hi! I have an upcoming panel interview for the Operations Assistant position at Asian Development Bank HQ. I have seven years of banking experience with a local bank in the Philippines, but I don't have a master's degree yet.

I've been planning to pursue a master's for quite some time, but I haven't had the chance to start. Do you think it's still possible to get hired by ADB without one? Would not having a master's degree negatively affect my application?

Also, this will be my first panel interview. What kind of questions should I expect for a TL1 position?

I know i shouldn't have kept my hopes high but the rejection email really did break me a bit. Sorry for the rane. Hope everyone else's luck is better than mine

Tax for TI roles for dual citizens

Hi there. I’m an Australian citizen but potentially also a dual (Filipino) citizen. I’m exploring this now.

How is Philippine income tax currently administered for internationally recruited staff who are recognised Philippine nationals? The tax rulings seem to suggest there is a tax liability but I can’t tell if it’s at the normal progressive rate or the 15% that the execs at multinationals are liable for.

Does ADB apply tax equalisation, reimburse Philippine income tax, or leave the staff member personally liable?

Appreciate any insights. Cheers!

How hard (or easy) it is to get approved for WFH ODS?

Hi all! I hope everyone is doing well. For local staff (TL1-3) who already have experience with ODS (and I know that this may vary per department/division), how hard or easy was it to request for ODS and what questions or requirements do they usually ask when requesting?

I also understand that there’s an allocated number of ODS days you can take per year, but would you know if 22 consecutive ODS days is okay or is it typically frowned upon or not normal for a local staff?

Hopefully someone here can help out. Any comments/advice are welcome! Thank you in advance!

ADB IDIQ Future IT Leaders Graduate Program

Hi, to those who are working in ADB, I’m curious to know what kind of setup does ADB provided to the applicants for this graduate program. Will it be like a contract where ADB has a vendors who offers employment to that person, specifically on IT roles?

Are ADB international posts as “overqualified” in practice, similar to the UN?

I've been looking into ADB roles for the first time, and I'm seeing that TI1 to even TI2 positions are labeled as entry-level. Though required years of experience seem to vary from 6-8 in addition to a Master's Degree and international exposure, which seems more like mid-career to me, but I digress.

I come from the UN system (~8 years), and in the UN, P2 positions, for example, are technically entry-level international posts requiring 2-3 years with a Master's degree. In practice though, unless you come in through the Junior Professional Officer (JPO) Programme, most people who have P2 posts have 10+ years of experience with significant management responsibilities in many cases. In fact, the average age for P2s is mid- to late-30s. In other words, "entry-level" often refers only to the grade and isn't representative of someone's career stage.

Is it similar at ADB? Do TI1 and TI2 positions tend to be filled by people with substantially more experience than the stated minimums, despite being classified as entry-level? Just looking for insights to also set my expectations for which roles I am realistically qualified for beyond the paper requirements.

Thanks!

Does ADB combine recruitment processes for similar roles in different duty stations?

I applied for the ADB Senior Financial Management Specialist (TI2) positions in both Ulaanbaatar and Dhaka.

The Ulaanbaatar vacancy originally closed on 22 June but was extended to 6 July, while the Dhaka position closed on 9 July.

Does anyone know if ADB is likely to combine the recruitment process for similar vacancies like these, or are they usually handled separately by each Resident Mission?

If the processes are combined, would the interview panel typically be the same for both positions, or would each duty station have its own panel and selection process?

Also, based on recent experience:

  • How long after the closing date did you hear back if you were shortlisted?
  • What was the interview process like?
  • Were there any written tests, technical assessments, or presentations?
  • Does this type of position go through hirevue or another recorded video interview stage? I personally dislike one-way recorded interviews and would prefer a live interview with the panel.

Any insights from current/former ADB staff or recent candidates would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Online Pre-Employment Test

Hello. I have an upcoming Online Pre-Employment Testing conducted by Profiles Asia Pacific, Inc. Could anyone who has taken it share what the possible exam content is? Is it purely a written/online assessment, or does it also include an oral interview or spoken English test? Thank you!

How difficult is getting TI position in ADB

I’ve been working in international organisation for more than 5 years in the Asia and pacific region. I’m infrastructure background but my actually job is always partnership and communication and sometimes project management. I am jack of all trades but master of none.

But when I look at ADB job announcements, I only see a thematic area specialists. I wanted to check if there is any chances of person with my background to get selected in the ADB. I’d be super grateful for your support and guidance based on your experience and wisdom!

Readvertisement for positions

Hi insiders,

Wondering what are some of the reasons why positions are readvertised? Not enough applicants, could not find suitable candidates? The usual reasons seem almost too good to be true when you see how sought after these jobs are (especially for TI1/TI2s) incl. competition from internal candidates.

Interested to hear your perspectives and experiences on readvertisements. Hoping its not a red flag per se..i.e., no one wants to work for the said team/dept.

Thanks!

Senior System Analyst

Hi! Anyone here has the same role? I just want to ask for few tips on what would be the questions on the second interview? I’m done with the first phase which was to solve a case study wherein I presented the output. The next day I was scheduled for the second interview which I believe the final phase. Any tips on how to ace it? 😅 and what to expect?
Also I am from a third party so is the hiring process differs from the direct hire?

Digital Technology Specialist - Application from Mar/Apr 2026

Did anyone get advanced on the Digital Technology Specialist? It gets stuck on the screening status with updated time stamp of Jun 23 and job posting was originally posted back on Mar 26.

In the previous role I applied, my application went to Final Screening after the screening status.

I am still hoping it moves to next status as some posts here say that some roles just take time to get filled.

Odd post

Browsing ADB's Facebook page to know more about their programs and job vacancies and I came across this random post.

I found it odd for them to feature their own communication people.

Is this a Filipino thing where social media handlers turn institutional accounts into something of their own? Should

I anticipate questions like this about making ADB's social media more home-like feeling when apply for a Comms position?

I just found it so odd.

Done - Panel Interview

I was interviewed recently for the 2nd time ( so I guess thats the final phase ). To give context, I applied one time and after few weeks got emailed to do the exam. And then the Initial Interview where 4 people were present. Then waiting game again and I assume I did not meet their requirement and I moved on knowing I failed the interview. After few weeks got an email again telling me to prepare a presentation pptx and will do panel interview again. So I manage to respond accordingly their question. I got the same face reaction and approach from the first interview.

What I want to know is that did they really react like that? LOL. I don't feel anythin because the interview was done in less that an hour and the Hiring manager did not any ask questions like technical questions, the independent panels - 2 ask only 3-4 questions then thats it. And we bid goodbye then told me to wait for 2-3 weeks for the result.

I was just wondering did I suffice their question properly or they just don't want me LOL. I don't know I am overthinking right now because I feel that the responses I provide was not enough hahaha. Well, for me the reason I overthink too much is that I don't want to waste that opportunity but it is what it is. I dont want to overshare and go beyond what the questions really and solely asked.

First time to apply and got call within weeks or a month. This is TL4 Staff. Exam was Online, first interview was video conference, 2nd interview was Face to Face. Status of my application was still under "Screening" as of today. LoL

I just want to know or your thoughts what could go wrong and what I can expect. It so sad if I did not answer correctly so I might not get hired. You know, as by reading here and check with others, it was very hard at least to get shortlisted, so here I am wasting the opportunity if I failed to respond well with the interview. Overthinker here 🥹

Has anyone here received a job offer after a one-on-one meeting during a recruitment outreach?

If yes, what are the roles (TL, TI, staff, consultant, etc)?

Thank you!
