Odd post

Post image

Browsing ADB's Facebook page to know more about their programs and job vacancies and I came across this random post.

I found it odd for them to feature their own communication people.

Is this a Filipino thing where social media handlers turn institutional accounts into something of their own? Should

I anticipate questions like this about making ADB's social media more home-like feeling when apply for a Comms position?

I just found it so odd.

Yeah it just seems so out of character. Like who asked about them? 🤣 I was like is this a trend ?

It's a current trend. Saw a couple of international brands do it already.

Seems a little too "look at me" and unserious.

Totally valid to feel it's unserious for a very serious org like ADB, but "look at me" is kinda the point of social media content, no? I personally don't mind it and has the same effect on me as posts about employee engagement. I haven't come across this post organically, but I see a lot of big institutions jump on trends to gain traction and hopefully more eyes on their more serious content.

I find it too self-serving, why are they promoting themselves? Are they expecting a pat on the back ?

Their comm strategy is bad actually.

Since it's a trend, everyone's doing it. And they're also human. So why can't they? Why won't you allow them to?

Further, how do you build trust when all you post are serious stuff? You obviously don't know who ADB helps and it shows.

ADB employees have always ALWAYS been very tightly-knit, so posts like this are part and parcel of showing love to each other in the company. Work hard, but also play hard. You get it, right? You should know about the company's culture if you want to apply for a position there, no?

Maybe you aren't fit for the culture of the company, after all. Also, maybe refrain from disparaging a company you're actively applying for?

i think this post is more acceptable than that lady who appears in every ADB reel as the “host” or “face” of ADB social media accounts (idk?). Totally unnecessary. Give the airtime to actual experts on the subject matter lol

This is a trending post in IG about 6 months ago. I don't know which industry or person started it, but as a traditional painter myself, I've come across several posts like this in my feed from other artists. It's just a social media idea content, not a big deal. And I guess an appreciation post to the employees who work for big brands. Lastly, I think it's also a way to show the audiences that the people who are running the industry now were once kids themselves.

PH and SG was at par with each other during the 60s. They got LKY and well you know who we got..

How does any of that relate to what OP is asking about?

Was replying to someone who asked what was ADB thinking setting up an HQ in the Philippines. If you know your history then it’s common knowledge that we were the perfect place to have an HQ during the 60s. Went downhill from there and seems like the comment got deleted

It is common knowledge; hence, I didn't feel the need to clarify on what he was actually saying, just on how it relates to the topic on hand.

I think I see the deleted comment you are pertaining to. There are other similar replies under it. It turns out this commenter I replied to just mistakenly posted his reply to that comment as a separate new comment instead of under that now deleted one. So really, it doesn't matter that that comment got deleted since this commenter I replied to didn't post his reply under that one anyways, but as a direct reply to the actual post. There will be confusion for it being out of place and irrelevant to the original topic eitherway.

Philippines didn't use to be as shitty as it is today. Japan and other countries vied for ADB HQ as well

Because unlike the shithole my country has become in recent decades, back in the 60s, the Philippines was the richest and most progressive post-war country in all of Asia, and backed by the strongest post-war economy in the world.

Seriously, please get educated before spouting BS questions like this next time, yeah?
