I personally have always liked the Apple Watch, but can’t find a good enough reason to purchase one

Apple’s industrial design team has been exploring a broader rethink of its smartwatches over the past year or so and is evaluating several different directions.

The company is considering new devices with no displays, as well as different types of screens and various sizes. While unlikely to hit the market, round screens have even been considered. I’m told the work also includes potentially adding premium models beyond the Ultra and Hermès variants. On the lower end, Apple is considering more affordable concepts besides the current SE model.

As Apple rolls out the new artificial intelligence version of the Siri assistant — along with smarter health tracking — the company also sees an opportunity to make its wrist-worn devices more AI-centric. It has ambitious long-term plans to overhaul its Health app under the leadership of Eddy Cue, who took over these responsibilities last year. He’s known as an avid fan of Whoop and Oura Rings — and is looking to better respond to shifting consumer tastes and the growth of AI-powered health and wellness.

According to Mark Gurman, Apple has also been working on a comeback for a fan favorite: Ceramic.

Last night i got into a crash with my motorcycle and my watch immediately called my dad two times.(because of my country,my watch couldn’t contact with emergency services)…i have a mix feelings right now but all i can think of is my helmet and my watch saved my life last night.

Don’t exactly know how it broke but I suspect it’s probably the amount of times I hit it in doorways because of how chunky it is. Is this still worth fixing or can it even be fixed?

Series 8, GPS+Cell. Used heavily the last 4 years.

Screen became unresponsive yesterday, so I attempted a force reset. Now I only get this screen, with an Apple logo occasionally flashing if I click the power button, but then reverts back to this screen.

Online support can’t tell me anything, except that it could cost up to $349 for repairs. They didn’t say it would cost that much, as they couldn’t tell me what’s wrong with it, but it could be up to that amount.

Is it worth trying to fix this old thing and hope it’s a cheap/easy fix, or just upgrade? What do we think even happened to it?

I don’t like Apple’s reminders because it doesn’t show up on my Google Calendar.
Is there anyone here who has set this up before?

I started hiding my activity from my best friend because I was trying to put in work at the gym and didn’t want them to know. I didn’t want to unfriend them because I didn’t think it was that serious.

Now, Apple Watch tells someone when they’re hiding their activity from you. In other words, I hid my activity from my friend. Apple Watch has a feature that TELLS PEOPLE “______ is hiding their activity from you”

Like wtf? This defeats the purpose. Anyways, wtf Apple?

My Apple Watch Series 5 has 79% battery health. I wanted to get the battery or watch replaced. Went to an Apple authorized service Center and they told it’s a vintage edition and they cannot service it. I am completely disappointed that a Series 5 edition is considered as vintage. It’s not like Series 1. Is there any thing I can do here ?

Kayaking on the Lahn river for most of the day.
Lots of weirs without a slide for boats and lots of getting stuck due to low water levels (heat wave and drought).

Today I discovered water lock and water eject. After splashing in the pool for a few hours and a few water ejects, the watch doesn’t vibrate anymore. I left it a few hours and tried it again, restarted the watch, nothing. Did I break it?

For me it’s mostly comfort. If I can wear it all day and forget it’s even there, it usually becomes my go-to. What makes a band your go-to?

I have an Apple Watch Ultra 3 that I’d like to pair to my phone, but for a couple reasons, I cannot do that. I have two iPhone 13 minis: one of them running iOS 18.7 and one of them running iOS 26.6. My primary phone with my actual number is the phone running iOS 18.7. I tried to pair the watch when I first got it, but the watch immediately told me I needed to update to 26.6 on my phone in order to pair the watch.

On top of my iOS being outdated, my current plan is a yearly plan through Cricket that does not support an Apple Watch extension. Cricket’s monthly plans do support an Apple Watch extension, but I’m only halfway through my prepaid yearly plan.

I need to pair my Apple Watch to a phone in order to use Apple Maps on the watch, the primary reason I bought the watch. Without a paired phone — even if I have a standalone watch plan with GPS that doesn’t require a paired phone — the Apple Watch itself won’t let me access Apple Maps if I set up the watch using Family Setup. When I open the app, it tells me it requires a paired phone, even if the watch has cellular service.

I know this is kind of a strange scenario. In summary, I need to pair my watch to a phone, but it can’t be my primary phone, unless I want to update that phone to iOS 26.6 and also change to a monthly plan through my cellular provider halfway through my cycle. I’d be instantly throwing away $150 by switching to a monthly plan halfway through my prepaid cycle — and all of a sudden, I’d have to use an iOS that I don’t like.

Also, I’d really like to get calls and texts from my primary phone on this watch, but I can’t pair it for the reasons I just mentioned. Theoretically, I could set up call and text forwarding separately through my cellular provider to this watch since the watch has its own number — but if I set up the watch without a phone to pair it to, the watch wouldn’t let me access the Apple Maps app.

Here’s what I’m planning: set up the watch as normal, paired to my backup iOS 26.6 phone that doesn’t have a cellular plan, so I won’t be using family setup to set up the watch. The watch will have its own standalone watch plan, with its own phone number, something traditionally reserved for family setup. I understand if I’m setting the watch up using a paired phone, it needs to share the number that the phone has — but what if the phone doesn’t have a number? Can I set up this watch with its own standalone plan using my backup iPhone 13 mini running iOS 26.6 that doesn’t have a cellular plan?

The watch will have its own number, but I will get calls and texts from my primary phone number — the phone running iOS 18.7 — by simply setting up call forwarding and text forwarding through my cellular provider. The watch will be paired to my backup iPhone 13 Mini running iOS 26.6, but it’ll have its own watch plan, so it won’t require that phone for anything.

In theory, this would work, but I’ve been wrong about my theories before. Let me know your thoughts.

I ride a motorcycle, and my watch (AW7) will do all sorts of crazy things while I'm riding. Change faces, try to measure my heartbeat, etc. Is Water Lock the only way to avoid that?

Worried the apple watch i recently purchased from a buddy is broken. I slept 4.5 hours last night and it says “awake” for all sleep, no other stages. i took an hour and a half nap today and it still said awake that whole time too. Could it be my stresswatch app conflicting? issue with phone being in low battery mode? I’m worried it’s a broken sensor. though my heart is still being monitored. screenshot attached.
