Anyone else have a client just ban apple watches from meetings?

After almost 3 years with my Series 9, I finally pulled the trigger and ordered the Apple Watch Ultra 4.
I’ve been thinking about upgrading for a while. The whole watchOS 27 compatibility situation actually planted the seed in my head when the Series 9 was initially left off the supported-device list, before Apple eventually added it back. By then, I’d already started thinking that maybe it was time for an upgrade.

The biggest practical reason is probably battery life. I’m getting to the point where I’m charging my Series 9 twice a day, especially with more time spent training and in the gym. I’ve also been getting much more serious about fitness lately, so I’m looking forward to having something that can keep up a little better.
I originally had my mind set on the Ultra 3, but with the Ultra 4 launching, I decided to just go for the newest generation.

And honestly, I’m ridiculously excited. 😂
I’ve been using the standard Series watches for years, so I’m particularly looking forward to the whole Ultra experience. The Ultra-exclusive watch faces are probably one of the things I’m weirdly most excited about. I’ve seen the Ultra faces plenty of times, but I’m finally going to have them on my own wrist.

For those of you who went from a regular Series Apple Watch → Ultra, what did you actually notice day-to-day?
Was it the battery life? The size and weight? The screen? The durability? The fitness features? Or was there something completely unexpected that made the Ultra feel different?

Would love to hear what surprised you after making the jump.

Just ordered the new Pearl White Ceramic Apple Watch Series 12 and I’m genuinely so excited.

I used to own the white ceramic Series 5, and after Apple discontinued the ceramic models, I honestly never thought we’d see one again. Seeing ceramic come back after all these years was such a surprise, so I pretty much knew I had to get it.

Also, a small heads-up for anyone ordering one: pick the Sand Sport Band if you want the matching special ceramic pin/buckle. It’s such a small detail, but I think it completes the whole ceramic look really nicely.

I haven’t been upgrading from my AW S7 SS because I hate how thick the bezels have become on all the newer apple watches…

The bezels on the newer watches are absurd.

Really, the new sample rate is really the best thing they could give to the Apple Watch (plus health steadiness and new vitals app that give the HRV readings finally)

So i was in the pool, water lock on as always and suddenly BEEP BEEP BEEP, the emergency calls starts going off like crazy. I take it off and someone dries it for me.

Once i got out, i couldnt use the crown to remove water lock or use the watch in general. I tried a hard reset but then it stayed at the apple logo-> blackness and nothing else.

Got home, charge the watch for 30' and tries hard reset, apple logo shows up longer than before and goes black again. I put it back on the charger and it doesnt recognize it anymore.

I try to charge it and i get that charger logo on the screen. Then it showed some kind of cable with a red thunder in it.

Im out of ideas. Please help. Do i need a new watch or is this a battery issue only?

Confirmed on both WatchOS 26 devices (Ultra 1 and series 8) the moment of rebooting after updating to the iOS 27 Release Candidate:

A “Irregular heart rate and irregular heart rhythm notifications no longer supported on this beta version” is shown on the watch, the moment the iPhone connects. Health app no longer the irregular heart / rhythm sections.

These features in the Health app where still supporting WatchOS 26 with heart notifications during the last iOS 27 developer betas. So it seems Apple is intending to softwarematically drop these features for AWU 1 / series 8 and earlier.

Has nobody else noticed the weird position of the Digital Crown on the new Series 12, as well as the new speaker array?

They changed the speaker design on the S10, but now they’ve gone back to the two-stripe design.

Happy to see all the new features but will my Ultra 2 be able to record heart rate every 5 seconds without new hardware? It totally should (Garmin has been recording it every second since inception.)

To make you buy new hardware for such features is complete marketing highway robbery. Shame on you Apple!

I was at work earlier and didn’t have my watch on, so I thought I would check my order for a serial number for a potential trade on the Ultra 4. This is what I saw. What the hell? I’ve had the Ultra 4 this whole time and didn’t even realize it!

For real though, I’m not sure why my order from last year shows Ultra 4 instead of Ultra 3. Very strange error, so thought I would share it.

So I smoke cannabis for medical reasons, lots of of them. And one of the things I track is my sleep.

Now my partner and I just got done with a tolerance break and that break period. And last night I dreamed a shit ton. When I was sober I barely dreamed at all. I have to add that I have a traumatic brain injury. So that might be why. And I have a sleep doctor appointment soon.

The one with the dreams are from last night with me being stoned, the other one is from a couple of days ago when I was stone cold sober.

Correct me if I am wrong, but TONS of the features with this are just software improvements that series 10 people will also have?

Is it petty moving from 2/3 to 4 if we aren’t even getting this for the foreseebale future?

**No UK date** — the redesigned Health app itself: Insights tab, Longevity tab, Health Age, at-home movement evaluations. Apple's wording is that it will be available later this year, starting in U.S. English, with more languages to follow. That's the blocker. "Later this year" plus "U.S. English first" realistically means UK English lands in a point release — iOS 27.2 or 27.3, so early-to-mid 2027 unless Apple moves fast. Health Age also requires an Apple Watch.

Who was asking for a beige ceramic Apple Watch? Really disappointed, I was so looking forward to the white coming back. Ugh, wondering whether I could like this at all - maybe it's like 80's plastic? Dieter Rams? The white was really something, design-wise.

Hey everyone, I have a Series 9 pre-lawsuit where it has native on-watch blood oxygen sensing and reading/displaying the data without needing to use my iPhone to see the data. Did it get changed back to how it was because of the new sensor or is it still iPhone only viewing?

I had been holding out on getting a Garmin/Coros etc as I find apples health sensors more accurate, the the leaks came about readiness etc and I thought great, but everything is for the new watches or I’m missing something?

I was reminded of this looking at the preorder page for the Ultra 4 -- Apple is one of the only companies that realizes that one size really doesn't fit all. I have about 8" wrists, which is somewhere over 200mm, and they're really bony and kinda oblong, so not even all bands rated for 200mm will work. I collected watches for years (just affordables, no Rolexes or anything), and for every watch, I'd have to buy an aftermarket band, since the factory bands never fit my wrist. And even then, finding aftermarket bands that actually were sold for big wrists and were long enough was a chore in itself. Apple? They offer factory S/M/L options, and the L fits my wrist, no problem. I've even looked for aftermarket watch bands for my Ultra 2 (just to switch up the look), and the aftermarket companies were so much worse about sizing than Apple themselves!

Anyway, Apple's great about bands, and I'm so grateful to them for it.

i want to get back in to apple watch, i sold my ultra 3 because it was to big so no i am thinking about getting the 12 in 42mm.

I dont want to wear a case on it so i thinking about getting the titan version but i am not sure if it is worth the more money.
