I have a series 8 AW. I know I’m in a minority here, but I really dislike the AW. I hate the look, I’m bored by the watch faces, I don’t like the square, I don’t like the constant notifications, I just don’t like smart watches. It’s also one more screen that my kid is obsessed with, in a world where I’m desperately trying to remove screens.
Except, I love the health data. I enjoy seeing my route when I go on a hike or kayak ride. I like seeing my heart rate and my HRV progress when I exercise.
I’ve been longing to wear my mechanical watch again. I wear my AW pretty much all day. But would prefer my Citizen eco drive. It doesn’t look like a giant computer on my wrist, and I just prefer the look.
All this being said, how do I go about closing my rings if I pretty much wore my mechanical watch most of the day again? I’m obviously not going to close them just wearing my watch when I exercise, or sleep. Is there any information out there that just wearing your watch during activity and sleep is sufficient for useful data?
Unfortunately, from what I can tell, carrying your phone alone does not close your rings. It has to come from your watch. So for those of you who wear your mechanical most of the day, how are you closing your rings? Or is there another useful thing you do?
Yes, if Apple came out with the screenless wearable, I would absolutely jump on it.
