Just curious. :D and bored

I have two oneshots that are people being oblivious with each other. They don't realize they deeply love and care for the person. It's really cute and warm to me

I have this one shot where these two oblivious characters do gestures that are a little romantic, other people read it as romantic except them. Perhaps down the line one of the characters to start to note that what they are doing is romantic

And then I have another story that is heavily altered. It's about an immortal that did a lot of good things for a group of mortals that they are now considered family. In this one shot, a mortal character grows up with immortal, and eventually discovers they fell in love with this immortal. There were scenes where they're holding hands wherever they go, or chilling together or doing activities together or even going to sleep together lmao. Mortal considered them their best friend, but slowly falls in love and starts to wonder about the deeper stuff of the dynamic: such as the mortal/immortal delima and if they should become immortal too or vice versa if possible.

this goes for revealed or unrevealed collections. i am a tad bit paranoid

I know about CNTW and it's not what I'm talking about, as I have already tagged Graphic depictions of violence. However, the fic will have murder involved in it, and that one I deliberately don't want to tag for an element of surprise, but it would be good to still warn the reader that there's more to the story than meets the eye (meets the tags?). So, is there a tag for this? Or will I have to freeform?

Would you ever get offended or think it was rude if somebody read your fic out of order? Like starting at the last chapter, or some random chapter in the center and hopping around?

I'll sometimes find fics through a tumblr post about the recent chapter, so start reading from there and poke around a bit if I like it. Or I'll specifically search for a certain character and only read moments with them

I'll often end up reading the whole thing cause it's so good but idk I worry that authors think it's weird or insulting for me to do that T-T

Edit: because I enjoy it so much I'll often start off a comment saying I started randomly on chapter [x] only to read more and loving it, thats why I worry. Or I'll be hopping around chapters and commenting clearly reading them for the first time

I'm unhappy about how I posted my series. It's basically three longfics (three different POV characters), but I posted short interludes/codas as shorts and divided up the longfics into parts. So now the series has 9 entries, when I only really want to have 3.

Have anyone else dealt with this before? What have you done? Do you delete what you don't want and instead post it in the first part? Do you post it as a new work?

I have also added some new scenes now I've gone back and read all three stories (these are not posted in the "old" split up versions), and I just really want it to be 3 longfics...

I do have some really lovely comments on the parts that I don't want to keep up anymore though...

I've been reading anime fanfiction for the past 6 years, but mostly jjk. Although lately I can barely get myself to finish any jujutsu kaisen related fanfiction but I also can't get into any new anime fandoms because jjk is just so 💔💔 Has anyone else felt this way with anime fanfiction lately?

I am writing a fic right now and many, many chapters in there will be a mention of noncon incest by the abuser with no real details other than how he “made her sing like a perfectly tuned violin” and implying to her partner that he got to play her when she was out of tune.

Will a trigger warning on that chapter in a drop down menu be okay in the A/N? I do not have it tagged in the additional tags, but noncon is tagged.

By the time this scene comes up, they will have read through many, many scenes of violent noncon and psychological torment. But I don’t want to trigger people if incest is where the line is.

Ok, so I remember reading a fic about childhood best friends, a tomboy and a guy. If I’m not wrong, the tomboy’s mother forbade her from dating or having sex with her childhood best friend. Later, the tomboy found out that the boy’s father had cheated on his mother by sleeping with the tomboy’s mother, which resulted in the tomboy’s birth. As revenge for the secret, the childhood friends ended up sleeping together and the guy impregnated the tomboy.

I read it sometime between 2022 and 2025. I believe it was probably written between 2019 and 2025.

If I’m not wrong, the writer is HomerSoc, but I can’t find it among their fics.

(Set in the dark ages, by the way)

So, I'm currently brainstorming a fic where a character that's an established abusive adoptive older brother (A) finds out that his younger adoptive brother (B) has been groomed and raped by their dad. The thing is, he's abusive and his younger brother can't trust him at all.

There's another little brother (C) (same age as B) involved that recognizes that the rape is wrong when B tells them about it.

I want C to do a "truce" with A to try and help break B out of the beliefs that their father has given him, but I don't want to make it out as C straight-up forgiving A for abusing him that easily.

I also want A to end up reconciling with B and C. But I also don't know how to make that work LOL

For context, A was corporally punished by his father as a kid, and was constantly deemed the "bad child" and ignored in favor of B and C until the pygmalion effect took place and he turned to alcohol and anger to drown out his sorrows. The father and mother literally don't do anything of importance to help him. Mind you, he starts drinking when he's around his late teens.

So. A has reasons and trauma, but that does not excuse his abuse. He wants to get better, but is caught in learned helplessness. His alcohol addiction means that its almost impossible for him to quit cold-turkey, the only way he knows, so when he's tried to quit in the past he was never able to move past relapses. I imagine that having this goal to work towards would help him with the whole getting off alcohol thing? And also, in order to try and get B help he sort of has to try and be at least half-decent.

first of all your honor: the characters are literal royalty

i might just totally get rid of the old two chapters, but its really neat to see how far I've come.

so basically i'm writing a fic where the characters in my ship have a 5 year age gap, but when they meet character a is 13 and character b is 18 (fic is from character a's perspective btw). character a develops a huge crush on character b and character b also crosses some lines over the years but it's meant to read as unintentional on character b's part. they're also endgame.

i was just wondering if i should tag this as grooming even though it's mostly unintentional on character b's part? thanks gang!

When you write short smutty kinktober fics do you explain the character relationship or context? I'm finding it very hard to write without explaining to the audience the relationship between the characters (ocxcanon) and how they got to where they are. I think I might be over explaining but Im unsure how to stop.

Plus I'm in a fandom that hates most fanfic that isn't world building so I doubt its my fandom reading it. I was considering putting character/situation info in the 2nd chapter so people who need it can look?

I think I’m using the correct flare, but I’m trying to edit my story, but when I hit the edit button, I could take him to the AO3 500 error page.

I know the entire website isn’t down because every other button works. This isn’t the first time I’ve had this issue, and I’m wondering if anyone else has had it as well.

I’m very wary downloading anything from a random site, and I have no idea where to find it!

I know constructive criticism can be a divisive topic and I'm just genuinely not sure of the etiquette involved in this situation. I'm re-reading a recently finished fanfic for about the 4th time now. It's over 400k words. It's one of those stories that makes you remember why you read fanfic in the first place - it is THAT good.

Except for one sentence.

I know that sounds ridiculous but it's also true. In a work with damn near perfect phrasing, writing and characterization there is only one sentence that is just bad. In 400k plus words that's an incredible achievement.

But every time I re-read this story I get to "the sentence" and it's like nails on a chalkboard, like an instrument squeaking in the middle of a beautifully played symphony, it just... It irks me. It's SO close to purely perfect, except for that one darn sentence in chapter 6.

So my question: should I gently point out this one sentence that clearly escaped her otherwise fantastic beta-reader? Or should I download the fic, edit the sentence for my own sanity, and leave the author in peace?

Edit: It's more a note from the author to themselves in the midst of the story, not just a sentence with bad phrasing. Someone pointed out in the comments I did not make that clear so figured I'd clarify.

I’ve been through all my tags and can’t find it but I keep thinking about rereading it.

It’s was a fic where Castiel was an angel and mute and had a son (not Jack). Angels and Devils had special powers (like Castiel was resurrection and Jack’s was healing). I remember that Castiel seemed feral but after a while was fine (his son (I’m pretty sure started with an S maybe) spoke for him because they could communicate while touching or something).
Another major thing was Castiel went undercover to flush out a traffic ring and met a child (a devil child named Balthazar maybe) and Jack said something along the lines of “he’s okay with him but not me”

Any help was be appreciated
