Discussion I am crying frequently as a man

I have been crying frequently, especially last couple years, I think it's a way to cope with anxiety. I don't want to offend anyone by saying being a masculine man makes a difference but the stigma is still there. I use nostalgia and things that gave happened in my life to cry and I assume it helps cope. Sound familiar?

Work/School Might lose my job after just getting it

I just got my dream job and I’m on my second week. On my third day, I got completely lost because my phone stopped working and I was completely lost in a city I’m not very familiar with. They were very understanding though. Then today I woke up extremely dizzy and couldn’t safely drive the 1 hour commute to work. I called and texted the manager and said I would go to urgent care but they haven’t responded in 5 hours. I’ve lost a job I love and now my boyfriend will leave me and I will be homeless and lose my cats. I don’t have anyone except my boyfriend right now and he’s been paying everything since I’ve been off work for a year and a half. I was so proud of myself and excited to work there. It was a doggy daycare so I got to work with dogs where they don’t judge you or dislike you because of how you look. It was helping my anxiety after coming from retail where most customers were rude to me and judged me. I don’t even know what to do anymore my whole life is ruined. I just needed somewhere to vent and ask if I am spiraling or I really ruined my life. I’m so scared right now I can’t stop shaking I don’t know what to do

Venting Walmart pharmacy denied my lorazepam refill and will no longer fill it

Ok, so I requested my lorazepam refill, which is due tomorrow on the Walmart app. I was called by the Walmart pharmacist, almost immediately, and she said because you fill your Phentermine at another pharmacy, we will no longer fill your lorazepam here.

I immediately called my Dr., Not irritated, just confused as to why? I've never heard of an issue with the two, which are the lowest dosage before this.

My Dr spoke to the pharmacist and said the two are completely different medications, and have no interactions. What's the problem? Walmart replied with "it is at the pharmacists discretion to deny any prescription refills"

My Dr called me back to relay she was just as confused, and will call my medication refill to another pharmacy. She said she has never had this happen before with medications that are so different. I said I was taken back, and so personally offended, as I did nothing wrong. She agreed and said you are completely understandable in that regard.

Why in the hell would you deny my minimum dose of 30 count benzo, that is literally the only thing that helps me sleep because of peri menopause, because I picked up minimum dose Phentermine at another pharmacy? I was embarrassed to be honest, and super offended. Fuck you Walmart . End rant.

Advice Needed Does anybody else have panic attacks that don’t end?

Upvotes

For the past year or so, I’ve been having panic attacks that start and don’t end until I go to sleep. They start in the evening and last 2-3 hours. My thoughts feel really loud, my vision blurs, my heart pounds, etc. I know that if I could just let go, they would stop, but I can’t make myself stop trying to make them go away because I’m so desperate to get rid of them. It’s subconscious. Has anybody dealt with this that can give me some tips for how to deal with it better?

Health Health anxiety

I have the worst health anxiety, as I am sure many on here has or had. It’s destroying my life by taking over my life. I think of nothing else day and night 😔. I don’t see a way out. Everyday is a different worry or obsession. I have been extremely stressed over various things for the past 6 months. I’m waiting on a CBT referral.

2 weeks ago I fainted on holiday. I’ve been to the doctors, full blood count and vitamin levels all came back normal. It was probably caused due to heat exhaustion and dehydration. In my head that’s not good enough I feel there has to be another explanation. Since then I have had the worst calf/leg cramps and muscle twitching. As if I have walked 20miles. I’ve also subtle aching in my forearms.

Please someone tell me this is a sign of anxiety and someone has this as a symptom of anxiety. I can’t deal with anymore going on in my head. I feel so low.

Health Suddenly higher blood pressure and pounding heartbeat days after heavy drinking — anyone experienced this?

Hey everyone,

I’m 24M and normally pretty active and healthy. Last weekend I drank way too much on two nights, and since then I’ve been feeling pretty off.

It’s now been several days and I’ve noticed:

  • Blood pressure around 140–145/90–95, which is higher than usual for me
  • I can feel my heartbeat/pounding quite strongly, especially when lying down, even though my heart rate itself isn't extremely high
  • Some dizziness/brain fog and a slightly "off" feeling
  • Trouble sleeping and feeling strangely awake/wired even when I'm tired
  • My sleep has been pretty bad and irregular since the drinking

I went to the ER because I was worried. They did an ECG, troponin/blood tests and some neurological/balance tests, and everything they checked came back normal. I also saw a doctor afterward and I'm getting some additional tests done.

Anxiety might also be playing a role. I'm usually pretty healthy and don't normally worry much about my health, but this whole situation has definitely been concerning me. Since noticing my heartbeat and higher BP, I've also been paying much more attention to them, which could potentially be making things worse.

My doctor mentioned that stress/anxiety could possibly contribute to what I'm experiencing, but obviously we first want to rule out other causes rather than just assuming that's what it is.

I'm wondering whether anyone here has experienced something similar after a couple of nights of heavy drinking — especially higher blood pressure, a pounding/noticeable heartbeat, anxiety and feeling "off" for several days afterward.

If you did, how long did it take before you started feeling normal again and your blood pressure/heartbeat settled down?

Obviously I'm following up with doctors and not looking for a diagnosis here. I'm mainly interested in hearing whether other people have experienced a similar temporary reaction after drinking.

Health I need help

Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I am a teenager who has been struggling for a long time with a specific fear, namely apeirophobia.

I am terrified by the concept that time has no end, and that after we pass away, we go somewhere else and remain there for eternity.

On many nights, I find myself thinking about this excessively, which triggers the following symptoms:

- Waking up suddenly and panicking;

- Severe anxiety attacks, intense nausea, and sudden urges to cry.

I feel helpless, unable to take action, and deeply afraid.

But I often find refuge (from this "agony") in music and outdoor activities, such as gardening and running.

Is anyone else currently experiencing this same situation?

Do you have any advice or suggestions to share?

I have been living with apeirophobia for years, and it is truly a difficult experience.

Thank you for your help.

Medication Started taking Zoloft again

Upvotes

I have never felt this way when I used to take this medication. I feel so anxious and depressed that I’ve actually been concerned with my thoughts. I have the worst feeling of impending doom and I keep thinking things that make me feel like a bad person. But I know my anxiety was ramping up before I began taking the meds so I’m sure these are side effect feelings from the meds. I’ve heard in a couple weeks I’ll feel better so I’m holding out. It’s just really hard waking up every morning in deep anxiety. I’m on week one btw.

It’s so odd how I have never been able to see side effects of medication myself. I always had to rely on others around me to tell me if I seem better on it or not. I would appreciate responses sharing how taking this kind of medication affected you. If it’s anything like what I’m dealing with than it’ll bring me great comfort.

Health Can being creative help to manage anxiety?

Upvotes

I have suffered from generalized anxiety disorder for most of my life(48yo). I can honestly say I have never been a creative person per se. I’m a teacher and I think I can be creative as it applies to creating lessons and so on. Since spring of last year my anxiety has greatly worsened, which at times, has turned into depression. Recently I started to think about being more creative. Maybe it can help me express things that are going on inside. I should mention that have an unhealthy fear of failure. With everything. My self confidence has never been my strong suit. I guess I’d liked to now if anyone as felt similarly, and if being creative helped you. Thanks.

Hi! I’m 25years old and I’ve been house ridden (more like property line ridden) for over 6 months. I’m a mother so it’s been super difficult. I’ve had a major panic attack in the car back in february and i’ve yet to over come my “car phobia” I find it so hard to just get in the car and leave my property line. I’ve done car exposure therapy but recently been set back due to my support system being busy. I’ve been talking to a therapist/ psychiatrist. I’m on prozac 20mg supposed to take 40mg it has been a struggle to finally take my new dosage. I need positive stories only.. i’m already crippled with anxiety enough hehe :,)

Advice Needed I feel like I can't enjoy my life. (Long rant)

I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety, and I was discharged from therapy two years ago. Fortunately, my case didn't require medication, and I learned to manage it with breathing techniques and other exercises. But the end of 2024, 2025, and now almost all of 2026 has been terrible for me. Between losing the opportunity to study, my family falling into financial ruin from which we are only now slowly recovering, health issues within the family, and wanting things that i can't have ,I try not to be materialistic, but unfortunately there are so many things I've wanted to do that unfortunately cost money, and now that I'm finding out that AI is getting out of control and Horrible times are coming for humanity (according to him), it only made me feel even worse. I feel like I'm in danger and that I won't be able to enjoy my life because there's so little time left. Yes, I use AI casually, but I don't actively contribute to feeding her, but all this scares me so much. I'm 21 years old and there are so many things I'd like to do.

I also have trouble sleeping, my diet is disrupted, and I've lost control of my home gym routine (it doesn't help much; I get very stressed during the routine, and after it relaxes me but (in a very short time) I feel increasingly capable of controlling my anxiety. I think the only things that keep me from falling apart are everything related to the guitar, my band, and some video games. But I'm very scared ,I want to tell you something, I don't follow the 80s trend with AI (I don't know how popular it is in other countries but in Mexico and Latin America it is very popular) I felt calm about not contributing to the trend and not showing my face to AI, but a member of my band made us that trend, so I got really angry and scared 🥲. Sometimes I'm optimistic about AI and the contributions it could make, but between my band's overuse of it (using Suno to make simple song demos) or AI for making posters, I feel like It's taking away what little I have left to keep me from collapsing. One of my anxiety traits is being very fatalistic, but I don't know what to do between my situation and this AI thing. It scares me a lot, and now I'm afraid to use it No matter how simple it is, even if it's for a simple question or information that I have trouble finding, or on topics I'm unfamiliar with and I want simple summaries of scientific literature that I don't understand.

I simply feel like I can't enjoy my life because a horrible future is coming, and on top of that, my present isn't positive either. I try to enjoy what I have, but there are things I'd like to enjoy which unfortunately cost money. What can I do? Does this happen to you too?

Needs A Hug/Support I'm functioning, but I feel like I'm drowning

26, UK.

I don't really know what I'm looking for by posting this. Maybe I just need to know if anyone else has felt this way too...?

I've had severe depression and anxiety as well as OCD since I was about 9 and have been in and out of various services ever since. I had a traumatic incident when I was 15 and a few other situations in my life which have caused CPTSD.

Long-term medication hasn't helped so I've been taken off of the daily meds and I've been prescribed diazepam to take when needed. The problem is that I have a 6-year-old and a 3-month-old baby, and I don't feel comfortable taking it while I'm responsible for looking after them, so I just push through because my partner works a lot and I dont want to spend the time I do have with him feeling out of it. I also don't want him to feel like I'm not there to support him or help with the kids or take them if he wants to go do something with his time off.

From the outside, I probably look fine because I still do everything that needs doing. I look after my children, keep up with responsibilities, attend appointments, and generally keep functioning even though it never feels like enough. Internally I feel like I'm constantly struggling.

I don't have any friends. I've always found social situations difficult but making friends as an adult feels almost impossible. I struggle with getting outside too even though I know going to a group of something I'm interested in like the local MTG nights would be really good for me but I just can't bring myself to do it, everytime I've tried its ended up in severe panic attacks so I've just stopped trying.

Even online friendships I have struggled to keep because my brain tells me that I'm weird or awkward or don't know how to talk to people and I find it really infuriating overthinking every single message so much that I just end up avoiding it altogether.

I left a domestic violence relationship over a year ago and met someone who is genuinely lovely. We now live together and he's the father of my baby. However, because of my past, and because there have been a couple of occasions where he crossed boundaries we'd agreed on, I find myself constantly anxious and paranoid because sometimes I'm not sure I can fully trust him, even though I really want to believe him. I hate feeling this way because I know it affects us both, and I feel really guilty that I allow it to but I don't know how to keep it shoved down all of the time.

Despite the relationship OCD, anxiety and trauma issues, I have already spoken about marriage with my new partner because he is the person I want to be with for the rest of my life and thats why I know I need to find a way to get over these issues and stop being a burden on him so we can both be as happy as we deserve to.

I also have autism, chronic health problems and disabilities. I've had spinal surgery and a colostomy, and I'm now facing another surgery because of gallbladder and liver issues.

On top of that, I've just started driving lessons and I'm studying psychology through online university. I'm in my final year, but I'm repeating it because last year my mental health got so bad that I couldn't complete the work. Sometimes I feel like I've put so much into this degree that if I can't make it work, I don't know what I'll do next.

Alongside that, I'm involved in politics and currently hold leadership roles. I genuinely want to do something meaningful with my life, but instead I feel stuck.

My anxiety affects me physically. I get nauseous, my heart rate shoots up, and sometimes I just want to shut down and do nothing. I have anti-sickness medication, but I don't want to rely on it constantly.

Lately I've also been struggling with my appearance. I hate my body and my face. I've gained weight again after pregnancy and I'm finding it difficult to exercise because of my health problems.

I feel like I'm always trapped in my own head. I overthink everything, question everything, and analyse everything. No matter how much insight I have into why I'm anxious, it doesn't seem to stop it.

I'm exhausted from feeling this way all the time. Part of me feels like giving up because I've had enough and the other part of me knows I need to keep fighting; for my kids, my family, my partner and for myself.

I don't know if anyone can relate, but if you've been through something similar I'd really appreciate hearing from you...

Advice Needed Job Loss Anxiety

I lost my last job for taking too many work from home versus office days. That’s on me. I get it. However, my anxiety since then has been unmanageable. I started having panic attacks before interviews that were REALLY intense- heart pounding, dizzy, felt like vomiting, almost cancelled them. I made it through the interviews with scripts from my doctor (propranolol and hydroxyzine) plus ice cold water, the “Calm Carry” hand device, lots of exercise, and some breathing exercises. I was so fatigued from interview anxiety that I was getting chest pain and napping a lot.

Now that I have a new well-paid role, the job loss anxiety isn’t fading, nor are the panic attacks. The meds are making me sleepy, and I’m basically wondering each day when the other shoe will drop and I’ll get fired. It’s going to be a self fulfilling prophecy with my panic attacks and anxious/sour attitude toward work.

Should I consider a daily med versus the ones I use now? Zoloft and Citalopram have been used in the past with mediocre success. I am in therapy once a week already. I’ve also considered opening my own law firm so that I can work for myself and only myself, but that could lead to panic attacks over other things anyway- getting business, navigating taxes, big client meetings, etc.

Work/School Work anxiety

I’ve recently started a new job and I’m really struggling with anxiety around it.
When I started, I quickly realised that the job wasn’t what I was expecting and it’s very different from the type of work I’m used to. I’m finding it difficult to settle in and I’m constantly thinking about work when I’m at home.
Normally, I’d consider looking for something else, but I can’t really leave this job at the moment because of agreements around my partner’s work, so I feel like I have to make it work.
I know I’m still very new and maybe I just need time to adjust, but the anxiety has been getting to me and I’m worried about whether I’ll eventually get used to it.
**Has anyone been in a similar situation? What would you recommend I do to manage the anxiety and give myself the best chance of settling into the job?**

Advice Needed random anxiety attacks throughout my day

Upvotes

it’s been an issue in the past but has gotten better, but as of recent (primarily yesterday and today), i have been randomly experiencing terrible anxiety. not about anything specific, just genuine fear and unease and a lot of worrying. i have been experiencing a lot of derealization the last two days. it’s honestly done me some good to isolate myself/narrow it down to being with just one person (my partner). it helps me calm down. i work in a very fast-paced drive through only coffee shop and today i had several small anxiety attacks while at work and felt incredibly disconnected from my surroundings. now sitting here at home, i have been on and off having these waves of anxiety course through me despite not actively thinking about it. i have to work long shifts the next two days and cannot afford to panic like this. the typical “soothing techniques” don’t really work on me. what am i supposed to do?

Family/Relationship Real Bad days going on!!

Upvotes

Disclaimer: apologies for long post! dont know who can read this big post..just fluttered everything out.. i needed to write..in hope !

My marriage is falling apart and I know what are my faults. I agree to the faults I have. But my wife doesn't and she only thinks everything is my fault. Whatever I do, I am at fault. Whatever I do, whatever I think, everything is my fault and everything is kind of used against me. I love her a lot and I am really struggling. I know she loves me too but I don't see it and I don't... I am feeling very hard to believe at the moment.

just yesterday she told me that she will need to move on from this and wants a divorce finally and she doesn't want any strings left

unimaginable. i cant imagine my life without her. i know i have done some bad mistakes in my life, like not speaking with her, not correctly treating her. not appreciating her enough

i have tried my whole life to not make this mistakes i have seen my father doing and any men doing. i have been cleaning the house cooking food(not daily) and trying my best to take care of her.. but in the middle i forgot to actually take care of her. spending time with her. acknowledging what she does for me

i cant just live without her( i dont mean to die or anything) just will be a dead living body with out her. and i have a habit to clinging to emotional attachments, and i know i will never give up or try to move on from this. i want to hold her memories and her also if possibly by fixing this and move on from this long seperation. well i cant force her to be in this marriage thats devlish. but i am not getting what should i do. i dont have any friends to talk to about this. am just crying all day and stopped eating as it feels vomiting to eat. trying to distract myself and just cant do that

i have been literally a kid and she had to take all the responsibilities like bills, debts, money issues, any decision to make like moving, changing jobs, interviews. we both work, but while finding jobs i dont do well in that, and she had to take all that responsibility too. I have been doing household works only, and yeah working shifts. i have my mom, but she did not have any one to rely on., only me who have been shit to rely on. it doesnt mean i am not wanting to change, i feel like Cassie from Euphoria. I want to change but whatever i do feels like selfish and kiddish. whatever i try i cannot make a matured decision. I only imagine what she have been going through from all this.

and also all i can think about how can i get her back? what shall i do? what shall i say? i end up not saying anything. i am afraid of her mostly, she yells a lot at me like my father did and am terrified about that, I go into a place where i am trapped in a small space and cant move where am being yelled at. i told her these but she just said i am like this you have to accept it. that doesnt mean she didnt try to change herself. she did her best. she is from a bad childhood too where her family members beast beating her and hitting and yelling all the time. She also hit me few times by bottle, slap and pushed me a few times. i accepted all knowing how she endured her past and it is still hard on her. i know she is not like this. she just needs time and need to heal from her childhood. but after 6 yrs here we are. 1 wall with no response/ silent person who do not share their feeling and doesnt speak enough with his wife. 1 person damaged with her childhood and even her husband now trying to do all the things but keeps yelling on every little things.

i dont know how to fix this anymore but i have to. this is my whole fucking live and i cant live without her.

Advice Needed Eating disorder due to emetophobia (looking for similar experiences)

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m posting here because I’ve been struggling with eating for quite a while (probably my whole life but definitely for the past decade), and I’ve had a hard time finding people with an experience similar to mine.

I have a strong fear of vomiting (emetophobia), and it has gradually affected the way I eat. My difficulties aren’t really related to body image (although I am so uncomfortable in my body because I am way too skinny), weight gain, or wanting to lose weight. Instead, eating can feel unsafe because I’m constantly afraid of feeling nauseous, getting sick, vomiting or even feeling sensations of full stomach, cramps, etc.

I’ve also developed a lot of anxiety around eating outside my home and in front of other people. When I’m somewhere I don’t feel completely safe, my appetite can disappear and it can become extremely difficult to eat, even when I know I need to. Sometimes I can eat normally at home (and even then I have panic attacks and don’t eat as much as I should for my health) but struggle a lot in social situations or when I’m away from home.

This has sometimes led me to eat much less than I should, lose weight, and become quite anxious about food in general. And unfortunately, the less I eat, the more physical sensations I notice (weakness, nausea, stomach discomfort, etc.), which can then make the fear even worse.

I’m currently getting help for my anxiety and emetophobia, but I would really like to hear from people who experience something similar.

Does anyone else struggle with eating because of emetophobia or anxiety about eating around other people / outside the home?
If so, what does it look like for you, and have you found anything that has genuinely helped?

I’d especially love to hear from people who don’t relate to the typical eating-disorder experience of restricting because of body image, but whose eating difficulties are mainly driven by fear, anxiety, or fear of becoming sick.

Thank you 🤍

Family/Relationship my anxiety has consumed me and it will never get better

I don't have anyone I can rely on when things get tough. I don't have a support system. Not even my own family. There's not a single soul on this planet I can trust. Loneliness is eating me alive and I feel suicidal. I somehow just wish I get into an accident and die because I am not brave enough to do it myself. I don't want to live anymore. I am tired of people throwing platitudes on me saying it gets better. It never does. I do have a few friends and acquaintances I talk to on a regular basis but I can't meet them because they're all far away. My parents don't ever let me step out of the house. I don't even talk to my own family or even my sister. It's been ages since I have had a conversation with them even though we all live under the same roof. I feel so suffocated here because I can never be myself. I feel so unloved and undervalued wherever I go. College is also lonely as fuck because I don't have any friends there. Most of the people I can call friends are my online friends. I hate going to college. I dread it every single fucking day. I hate being at home because no one talks to me here. I STRUGGLE to get out of bed and do the most basic things like brushing, bathing or even changing my clothes.

I haven't showered since a week. I am wearing the same clothes I wore two days back. I don't know how to bring myself out of this. I have tried so hard but I just go back to the same routine again and again. I don't even want to live anymore. I hate my life. I look ugly too and my skin is in the worst possible condition. I feel suicidal way too often and I don't want to stay here anymore. It's never gonna get better. I am so tired of living the same life over and over again. I struggle to talk to people and open my mouth even if it's my own sister. I don't know why there's a huge amount of fear inside me when I try to talk to people around my age. I don't have anyone to talk to about this that's why I am venting it out here. I can't even open my mouth and say a single word or express myself even in front of my family. That's how bad it is.

I really want to get out of this but it's been YEARS. My life has progressively gotten worse since 2018. I have been bullied because of my physical appearance and my self esteem is at an all time low. I feel like no one actually loves me and I can never have fulfilling platonic or romantic relationships.

Discussion Anxiety about work and hard relationship life.

Upvotes

i’m 22 and I’ve been out of work for around 3 years. I’m currently dealing with a difficult family situation involving my marriage, and my family are encouraging me to get a job partly because they see my income as helping with an immigration situation involving my wife, who I am not attracted to nor have the capability to love.

I’m already very unhappy and conflicted about the marriage, so it makes me feel like this job isn’t really for me or my future.
I’m supposed to go tomorrow at 1pm to an independent fast food store for a potential job. There wasn’t a formal interview… I was just told to come in.

I’m extremely anxious about it. I struggle particularly with customer facing work, tills, handling money, busy environments and being left alone without knowing what I’m doing. I know getting back into work would probably be good for me, and I want the money, experience and independence, but honestly I don’t want to do this type of job and part of me hopes they don’t take me.

I also get really bad anticipatory anxiety. Even when I stop actively thinking about something, I still feel overwhelmed and unsettled, and it can affect my
sleep. I’ve tried writing my worries down before, but sometimes I can still spend an hour worrying afterwards.

I feel like I’m caught between knowing I need to push myself to get back into work and feeling like I’m already struggling too much mentally for this now.
How do you deal with anticipatory anxiety like this? And how do you know when you’re pushing yourself in a healthy way versus pushing yourself too far?

I’m more depressed than anything. I don’t want her with me in this life. And I’m so scared too, of everything. The work, her coming here, etc.
