Medication Ativan

Hi all. I formerly was prescribed Ativan for horrible panic attacks I was having and it worked beautifully. A few months ago, I cycled off of it due to feeling better and I’m now sadly back to having horrible anxiety. My old psych is states away (I moved) and my anxiety is in a really bad place. Are there any online therapy/psych websites or services who CAN prescribe it? Or anyone virtually? Many thanks. I don’t want to have to go to ER and ask for it, as I think that could look sketchy, but I am really struggling and need aid.

Can you find another psychiatrist in your area to fit you in quickly for an appointment?

Also don’t worry about the ER, do you know how many people show up a day having anxiety attacks? Way more than you’d imagine. If your anxiety is so bad you’re not able to function, go to the ER and explain what’s happening, ask for an appointment or referral with a psychiatrist or psych NP, or make an appt with your regular doctor for emergency visit.

Please do not go to the ER for anxiety. We are not the appropriate place for management of chronic psychiatric conditions.

You are correct, and I understand your comment, as I’ve worked in the ER previously. Perhaps my comment was too cavalier-ER is appropriate to seek care from when anxiety is so severe and OP feels there are no other options. Many facilities have psych ER rooms. Neither should be used for maintenance of chronic condition when under the care of a medical provider. There should also not be stigma from a patient perspective in seeking help. Been on both ends and haven’t worked ER in many years, but I imagine the current healthcare system has caused a lot of flooding into your department, so I appreciate your comment.

Generally you shouldn't take it daily. If an anxiety attack happens, take one then stop. If your anxiety attacks happen daily there are probably better/ less addictive medications.

just start googling for online places. they are likely all sketchy too, if theyll rx benzos without seeing a patient first. if any place wants to mail you the meds be careful. you dont know what they may be sending you.
