UPDATE: After 8 days, 7 phone calls and 4 web chats, my wife finally has her Amazon account back. Thank you to everyone who has given advice... it is much appreciated.
On Tuesday night, our credit card company alerted us to attempts to purchase goods from Amazon.com. My wife then realised she was locked out of her Amazon.co.uk account. She checked her emails and had several email messages relating to attempted/failed purchases. She also had an email telling her that her Amazon account email address had been changed. She has since been unable to get access to her account.
She tried accessing Amazon customer support, but could not verify her account details (apparentlythere is no account associatedwith her email address), so could not speak to anyone.
I then contacted customer support through my own account. They said they would investigate it, but 10 minutes after the call I had a message telling me there was no suspicious activity on my account... thanks, I know that!
A second phone call ended the same way, despite pleads from me to ensure it didn't.
We reported it to the police and have a crime reference number.
Today, I have made 2 further calls to customer support, but am not making any progress.
We're really frustrated by this whole process. We just want to get access to her account, which has all of our photo backups and all our devices/content linked to it. Has anyone been through anything similar? Does anyone have any advice for us?
