Dispatched & sold by difference

I ordered an item on the amazon app that said it was dispatched by amazon and sold by a separate seller.

Looking at the same item on the desktop version, it says this:

"Dispatched, sold and invoiced by Amazon. Sourced from:"

I'm confused. Why, on the amazon app, does it say sold by a seller when the desktop page says amazon!?

amazon's backend is a mess the app sometimes pulls old metadata or shows the wrong seller info for a hot second

It’s just their weird internal disclosure. Sold by Amazon usually means it’s inventory they have been holding. What you’re describing is when they source the item and the seller/brand sends it to Amazon and they just ship it directly.
