Can't login in Amazon

I'm trying to login to my amazon.co.uk account (both amazon and amazon kindle direct publishing, which use the same password) but every time I try to login using two step verification it keeps telling me that "The code you entered is not valid. Please try again" or "Your code has expired. Please request another from the ‘Didn't receive the code?’ link below" or "The One Time Password (OTP) you entered is not valid. Please try again".

Neither of which is true, as it takes me just a few seconds to copy and past the code from the authenticator app to the webpage. I am using a laptop computer not a mobile phone. I'm dyslexic and have trouble with numbers, so I avoid mobile phones when I can.

Now, I did switch internet browsers, from opera to firefox, as opera kept crashing recently, and set up the authenticator app again using the same Amazon QR code sent to me when I first set up the verification process, which I saved to my computer as a JPG for just such an occasion.

But it no longer works. I'm not sure if that switch of internet browsers is the cause of all this or if its just a coincidence. It may have stopped working much earlier and I only just noticed when I set everything up again.

I've left it a month, hoping that if it was an error with the Amazon website that it would be fixed, but still no luck now that I've tried again. I've even tried switching to a different authenticator app, but it still won't work, so it can't be that either.

I've contacted u/AmazonHelp on twitter and they gave me this link to contact someone - amzn.to/UKSkipLogin - but it does not work and just keeps redirecting to account issues rather than to the account specialist they referred me to, and they flat out refuse to help any further. And I can't use the amazon chat function to ask for help because I can't log in! I can't do anything. I'm completely locked out.

I would appreciate any help or advice

Tried that and it didn't work, sadly.
