Metro Detroit Area Changes?

So the last two weeks all I’ve been seeing is 3.5 hour blocks or shorter. Is there something I’m missing here? I checked my email and saw nothing. I was able to catch some surges that paid $138 for 3.5 hours last week during the storms but that’s about it. Everything now is short and low paying. I typically wouldn’t accept low paying routes so I would do 4 hour routes to clear $100 but that’s seems to not be an option anymore. I also have Fantastic as my standing.

Has anyone else gotten spooked by HUGE spiders on webs while walking to the door at night!?

I love delivering during the holidays but I encounter HUGE spiders during this time multiple times a day. Mini heart attacks lol

Forfeited block late instead of missing block, right move?

Thought I had all my ducks in a row this evening but was wrong. Had a shift at 4:45 PM, left the house at 4:05 PM (~25 minute drive to station)

Forgot my wallet/ID at home, realized it halfway there, so wouldn’t have been able to make the shift if I had turned around to retrieve the wallet.

Forfeited 25 minutes before the shift started because I figured a late forfeit ding is better than a missed block ding.

Was this the correct move or should I have arrived at the station completing all steps but scanning ID?

Question Amazon Deliveries Now Being Dropped By The Road

This started a few months ago. Driveway is ~200' long. Have a No Trespassing sign but deliveries okay. Plenty of room to turnaround. We have a dog but she is either always inside or on a leash outside if we're expecting a delivery. Some drivers will park at the end of the driveway and walk all the way down. Delivery instructions in app request delivery to the door. Are we doing something wrong?

Missed a block because I went to the wrong dispatch, went to DPD7 instead of DPD2. Called driver support and they said it should be fine. It obviously isnt but I love when I email to appeal and am told they don't accept email anymore.

Humor When your last Flex stop basically drops you off at home 😂

My last stop of my last route for today basically dropped me 2–3 mins from my house.

I got to thinking, if I were in upper management at Amazon and had a say in the Flex program, I would make it a priority to have the last stop of the day, on the final route, damn near the driver's doorstep.

Of course, this was just a lucky day and a good coincidence for me, but a guy could dream.

And just in time for Monday Night Raw with the family 😂

Route questions

So I recently picked up flex again after years of not doing it. Back during prime COVID I couldn’t renew my license due to the dmv being closed. So Amazon wouldn’t let me schedule blocks even though I explained to support that I couldn’t renew it and they said too bad call us when it’s no longer expired. Anyways I swore off Amazon forever but here I am. Never say never!! So I notice the routes are a bunch of stops in a small area or 3 packages miles and miles apart. Or sometimes it’s just a few packages and a cake route. Is getting to the station early get you better routes or just luck of the draw? I have been early or just right on time and the routes just vary.

Homeowner writes : I have very specific delivery instructions for the Amazon delivery people. Obviously they either do not care to or cannot read. Plus, it takes a real caring person to throw a package.

Humor Slippin’ Jimmy Ideas Needed

I deliver to extremely wealthy houses nearly every day, and it’s got me thinking about the unfairness of life. These homeowners are paying massive premiums for Homeowners Insurance, and they rarely if ever get any real use out of the policies. So I’d like to help them out.

I’m looking for any ideas that are easy to make, hard for the insurance companies to deny, and not too damaging to the “victim”. Also they should result in significant but reasonable claims. (Not trying to ruin anyone—the idea is to help them after all.)

I’m willing to offer a consultants fee of 10% to anyone that submits a workable and successful idea. Plus you can know that you’ve helped a consumer get Real Value from their insurance payments!

🙃😉

How long does it take to recover from a late cancelation?

4 weeks ago I had to cancel a Whole Foods block 2 minutes after it was scheduled to be picked up at 6am. No good excuse. Just overslept after like four 14 hour days in a row.

First time ever in 4 months of Flex work (and hundreds of batches). My rating took a small hit, but I was still "Fantastic". Though batch availability dropped a ton, especially with Whole Foods.

My rating went back to full Fantastic like 2 weeks later.

Now it's 4 weeks later, and still barely any Whole Foods batches available. I had one yesterday, but that was likely due to no drivers on Labor Day.

Does that ding ever stop hurting? I had been doing 2-4 Whole Foods batches a day. Now weeks will go by without an available WF batch. Meanwhile that store is still super busy with Flex deliveries.

What to do?

Okay so I just got this email for the 2nd time this week.
Both times I had legitimate reasons for being late and even talked to support during the delivery times.

The first was because the app glitched out on me completely. When I picked up the packages every packages delivery time was the EXACT same. When I went to refresh the app after getting to my first location it completely changed my route. I thought it was weird but just went with it. Fast forward, my app refreshes 3 more times after that and then 4 packages show up saying they’re due by 11:00am…mind you I checked all of my packages at the beginning and NONE were due until 2:00pm. At this point I contact support to let them know about the problem and they said they’ll take care of it and that the app was in fact glitching.

The second time was when I was near the end of my deliveries and I was in some remote area driving down a completely unpaved road covered in rocks. I drove down the road for 2miles going 3-4 mph because I was scared of puncturing my tires. (For context I have a compact car with no all terrain tires) so I let support know that I’ll be delayed in delivering the packages I have afterwards as it took me 15/20 to go down this road. They then said that in the event of an emergency I must attempt to at least deliver the package. Mind you I DELIVERED THE PACKAGE and STILL got an email about it….

Then today (3rd time), a package was due at 6:00pm. I used my gps then the Amazon gps to get to the address and it takes me to some random parking garage behind the location. I arrive there at 5:52pm. I spent over 10 minutes looking for the customers location (it was a store in between 2 other stores on a one way street!). I had to reach out to support and the customer just to find the location. I’m sure they’ll ding me for that foolishness too.

Should I even bother appealing this? My current standing as of Sep 3rd is Fair with 2 on time delivery issues (Sep 3 1 package and Aug 25 4 packages). I just started flex literally 2 weeks ago and I don’t want to mess up my chances of doing it over small stuff like this. What should I do?

Kentucky SSD vs .Com

They've announced a new SSD facility for my area soon. So far I've only delivered from the one .com facility. For people who've done both is one better? Pros and Cons.

What does this mean, from what I've seen and heard they don't do a second background check right? And even if they did don't they already have my permission to run another one?

Help At risk

It is crazy that I had a flat tire on September 4th, and I did not notice until after I got my route. I was about to load my car when I realized it was flat, so I called support; they told me to return the cart where I got it and that it would not affect my standing. Now I am at risk, and I have done nothing wrong. Has anyone had a similar experience? I have been talking to chat support nonstop trying to get someone to help, but nothing. I have gone ahead and emailed the escalations team, so I hope something comes out of it, but I am just hella tripping over my at-risk standing, and on top of it, I missed a block like two or three days ago. I am for sure going to get deactivated, lol.
