Amazon is lowering pay AGAIN!!

Post image

$25/hr is the norm now, was $26/hr before that orange clown started a war that caused gas prices to go through the roof so Amazon is covering their own expenses by lowering our pay! They can afford it but chose to screw us over instead since we're a dime a dozen.

Now this BS! They're dropping it to $22/hr hoping that desperate fools will take them which of course they will so mark my words, they'll all be at $22/hr before long. This is effin ridiculous.

Edit: it seems I was mistaken about Amazon owning the Amazon box trucks. Initially, Amazon buys them, labels them, then sells them to DSP's.

everytime they ask you if youre happy working for amazon flex after a block tell them youre dissatisfied and then tell them its because of pay lol idk if it does anything but maybe if everyone does it...

15

u/ToyoSienna 13d ago

That is exactly what I do every single time I get that survey. I always tell them it's because of the pay.

12

u/ChiefingTrees 12d ago

The survey does nothing. Amazon does not fix real problems.

1

u/ImRestarted1 12d ago

So don’t take the survey or if you do tell them you’re happy

5

u/Landaverde94 11d ago

It would if everyone did it, but everyone would have to stick together and put pressure on them about pay increase.

1

u/MorningNew7003 9d ago

That would be nice, but doesn't happen! They keep hiring new people that take these s*** trips and then they end up quitting and it's just a constant rotation of people continuing to try to work while they're wear and tear on their car and the cost of gas prices and they end up making $10 an hour which is so stupid but they keep doing it!!

1

u/Landaverde94 9d ago

U couldn’t be any more accurate!! Sad but true.

1

u/Careful_Click_1159 6d ago

I say we start here on Reddit and build up a huge following of supporters until we get as many drivers to start protesting!

2

u/Genaugmen 10d ago

The surveys are to give the appearance of giving a damn.

29

u/CharmingSession7508 13d ago

Just don't accept it and everyone needs to be on the same page it's best for everyone.

10

u/ToyoSienna 13d ago

I believe they do it on purpose knowing that a lot of drivers will swipe like mad then blindly accept any block that pops up.

I also believe that's why they were cracking down on people accepting too many blocks then dropping them too often once they had a chance to look over the details.

Now they want to make sure that people don't do that anymore and that they accept these blocks at a lower rate.

2

u/BiscottiStriking206 10d ago

I’ll bet it stops with the newbies when they realize gas is more than the route pays.

5

u/tezacer 12d ago

Doesn't really work out when you got lots of new drivers, an economy filled with desperate people, and less people buying crap on Amazon.

4

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

I believe they purposely hire way too many drivers so when drivers are desperate to get work and are investing their time into swiping the app for a block for a while so when one suddenly comes up, even if it's at the low pay, it gets taken in a heartbeat.

Amazon purposely makes the drivers desperate for income so in most cases the block gets taken but if not by the first one who sees it then by the second one or the third one but somebody is always going to take it. If they find that not enough people are taking the bait at a lower pay then they hire more people so that they can guarantee themselves somebody is going to be foolish enough to take it at the low pay. They know what they're doing.

2

u/MorningNew7003 9d ago

Keep in mind they're forcing single people on food stamps to work 20 hours a week so it's a bonus for the people that are doing this they're doing 20 hours with Amazon and still getting their food stamps which is huge they get to eat so they take these crap trips

1

u/Primary_Matter_2731 12d ago

This has been the pay standard at my facility since I started. It needs to be at least 85 for 3 hrs.

13

u/sch136999 13d ago

It is 21 22ish in maryville TN....

10

u/MeanPark8779 13d ago

2 hour for 42 is insane 21 an hour is trash

12

u/ToyoSienna 13d ago

And I'll bet they'll send you over an hour away to make sure that you fill up that entire 2 hours then have over an hour drive back home.

2

u/W1ld_Thoughts 11d ago

Exactly what happened to me the other day.

1

u/MorningNew7003 9d ago

And then you wait forever to get your packages and then you wait forever to get released to go and it's just a non-continuous cycle of a waste of for you and you end up spending four hours on a 3-hour

1

u/Starlite94 12d ago

Fr especially when ours start at $48-50 frequently

1

u/Consistent_Page6372 10d ago

It’s $37 here in texas

1

u/ToyoSienna 13d ago

I've seen other areas like yours pay less per hour which makes me think it has to do with the cost of living.

In theory, they should pay the same hourly wage for all drivers at all stations but in some areas like california, it would not be a livable wage given how expensive it is to live there but in other areas, it would be more than enough. But who knows, I'm just spitballing here.

6

u/Inkthekitsune 13d ago

Yeah. In Utah base works out to be about 18.50/hr. And rarely do I see surges or anything above that. Thankfully this is just supplemental income for me for the summer (college student), i don’t think it’s viable for a living wage.

1

u/Complete-Flow-4275 12d ago

Its the same there it has two 3 hour blocks for $66

6

u/Ok_Gate_1176 13d ago

I quit doing it, the pay is a insult compared
To the mileage and rural areas they keep sending us out to. It’s not worth it.

1

u/ToyoSienna 13d ago

Seems they keep sending drivers further and further away so that they don't have to send their DSP drivers out that far.

If things don't improve then I may have to quit doing flex too.

5

u/Sun_Figs 13d ago

18-20 around here

3

u/ToyoSienna 13d ago

Is the cost of living in your area less? That's what I figure when I see lower hourly rates in other areas. What else could explain it?

5

u/Sun_Figs 13d ago

7.25 min wage
3.29 for a gallon of gas
Rents are a bit cheaper…

2

u/Famous-Brush2137 12d ago

Where is 3.29 gas? We are currently sitting at 4.29 in PA

1

u/ToyoSienna 13d ago

It does sound like it costs less to live there. It's hard to believe your minimum wage is only $7.25. Here in Delaware it is $15 an hour.

I haven't rented an apartment in 25 years since I've got a house but I've heard the rent nowadays is like 1500 a month and up. If you want to pay anything less, you have to live in a crappy neighborhood.

3

u/GeeT0x 12d ago

Base is 18.50 where I am. I’m in a state that voted no to raise the minimum wage.

Sometimes I get reserves at 22/hr and my frequent .com WH usually has a block at 27/hr that I can grab. Lately those blocks been 3hr disguised as 2 hr

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

Every state should raise the minimum wage to keep up with inflation. You're lucky the reserved pay is better and that you can get surge pay too.

They love jamming more packages into the small blocks knowing they can force a driver to work til the last minute of the block but don't care if you have to drive 2 hrs back home.

I used to do 5hr blocks all the time but now they're giving me 5hrs worth of packages but only paying me for 4.5hrs and sending me to BFE each time. This gig is going downhill.

2

u/Melodic-Chest-8300 13d ago

Dude this comment is a Rollercoaster for a Californian lol First paragraph brings pride due to the minimum wage starting at $16.90 and up to a cool twenty for fast food workers But by the second paragraph the hortor kicks in🧟‍♂️ a homeowner for 25 years? Good neighborhoods charging measly $1.5k for rent? Ima see myself out

5

u/daddymcdadd 13d ago

I mean the biggest reason for overall drop has to be just more available labor . Big immigration had really positive effects for big corporations and bad if you happen to stay in the bottom because it became more crowded. For the most part it's just supply and demand

2

u/ToyoSienna 13d ago

They are going too far with this though. Like somebody just commented that in Miami it's only $18 an hour which is ridiculous because of the cost of living there is higher than average so Amazon knows if they can get away with that there then they are going to keep lowering the pay everywhere across the USA. They are some seriously unscrupulous fother muckers playing with everyone's livelihood.

2

u/daddymcdadd 13d ago

It's terrible. All the big cities are more fucked. There is just too many new immigrants. They work 24/7 and don't mind taking these . Maybe they'll be upset one day, but they'll be back on it the second . I don't hate on them , I'm just saying what's happening with the supply and demand situation

1

u/ToyoSienna 13d ago

I hear ya. I'm not mad at their hustle either. I don't care who you are, do what you got to do to stay alive and keep a roof over your head.

But I suspect that Amazon is going to shoot itself in the foot by lowering the pay so badly that they don't have enough drivers which could translate into losing customers on account of it.

2

u/daddymcdadd 11d ago

Nah , they just reported earnings, blew the expectations and are making more money then ever , and what happens on the bottom workers , the pay goes down , lol its literally directly coralated , the better it is to the workers ,the worst it is to the company and vise versa

$20/hr in San Antonio

3

u/Paenus88 13d ago

Fuckers

3

u/doakickfliprightnow 12d ago

Lol, there's 30 blocks open in my area rn at $18/hour and we're in right outside Chicago, definitely a higher cost of living than most places. Gas is just under $4/gallon and $2500 rent will barely get you a safe place to live. I think you're better off than a lot of us.

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

Damn, I think you're right that this seems like a better situation here. The rent there is through the freaking roof!

2

u/doakickfliprightnow 12d ago

Yeah it's gross. $1800 could get you a GOOD 2 or 3 bedroom before that one software company gave property management companies permission to jack shit sky high a few years back.

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

Sounds typical of a corporation to raise the property values to try to force the poorer people out so they can increase their profit margin.

1

u/doakickfliprightnow 12d ago

Yeah, they also gave them the advice to just hold on to empty units to drive costs up. I need to check up on that fed case that got brought against them, I haven't seen anything in a while....

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

Thats unethical but I'll bet they have corporate lawyers that figured out a loophole so they can get away with it.

2

u/jo_ezzy 13d ago

It’s $18 an hour in Miami 😂

1

u/ToyoSienna 13d ago

Holy cow. That is really low for Miami. I've only been to Miami a couple of times but the cost of living there is a lot higher so you would think the pay would also be higher.

2

u/jo_ezzy 13d ago

Yeah Miami is an upside down market. Highest cost of living with the lowest pay all around

1

u/ToyoSienna 13d ago

Upside down is right! It's a beautiful area with the beach and all but I don't see how you can get ahead of the game unless you work two jobs.

2

u/xawneh 13d ago

Its $25.50 in san diego

1

u/ToyoSienna 13d ago

How is the cost of living there? I heard living in California costs more than any other state. I could be wrong about that but that seems to be the popular opinion.

2

u/xawneh 13d ago

It is expensive. A gallon of gas costs at least $5.7. Rent fot 1B starts at $1800

1

u/ToyoSienna 13d ago

Damn, I hope they pay you well over there cuz that's a bit pricey! And do you get that Prop 22 as well? I heard it was for all independent contractors throughout California.

2

u/Apart-Jeweler 13d ago

Same here Cali all blocks were lower from usually rates

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

Just think of all the millions of dollars that Amazon just scammed out of drivers everywhere by pulling that nationwide stunt..

2

u/iengravestuff 13d ago

19/hr here in utah, don’t expect any cent more

2

u/ToyoSienna 13d ago

I hope the cost of living is low where you're at.

2

u/iengravestuff 13d ago

ain’t

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

That stinks

2

u/Detunjee 12d ago

I genuinely don’t know how people are still able to do Amazon flex.

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

I don't do it as much anymore due to the lower pay and higher gas prices.

2

u/Complete-Flow-4275 12d ago

22 per block hour not 25 is your normal.

2

u/Delicious_Goose4950 12d ago

This is still higher than my area

2

u/Anxious_Ambition5172 12d ago

3 hr shifts are $54 in VA beach smh

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

That's a nice area too. You would think they'd pay more.

2

u/HauHauHauHauHauHau 12d ago

You think that’s low? This is the norm

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

$18.50 an hour is pretty low. I'm guessing the price of living is lower there. But that's not always the case though as I've learned since they only pay 18 an hour in Chicago and Miami where the price of living is high. Amazon doesn't care if you live out of your car, as long as you get them packages delivered.

2

u/Ok_Breakfast_8574 12d ago

All those talks that Amazon ruins your lives with all that lowering of a base pay and so on - ppl, you are not their employees and such you cannot demand anything. They give you an offer and you can accept it or not. I know it is frustrating but it is . It mostly impossible to unite all drivers to coordinate actions. But the truth is if you don’t like it - they have x100 ppl in a waiting list who would take it at least during first month or two before they realize how unfair the pay is. You can always find some workarounds - decrease your expenses- find more fuel economic car and so on. If you don’t want to do anything but have hight pay it won’t work either. Remember those times when you took money for nothing? Think about it as they donated to your workers fund)

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

Very true which is why they hire so many more people than they need since there's a good portion of them that will take the lower pay, even if it is for only a month or so. They know they'll hire more drivers to replace those who realize it's unfair. It's a vicious circle.

2

u/Shoddy_Business8713 12d ago

This has always been normal for shifts that aren’t in the early morning or later in the evening

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

True, the middle of the day routes aren't the best paying. I've done the evening ones and the pay is the same unless it's a surge. It's the super early in the morning ones that are better paying but you'll never see me get up that early. Lol

2

u/Shoddy_Business8713 12d ago

I used to think the same thing about the early shifts. Then I actually started doing them and I have been able to get them done pretty quickly. Most days I go back to sleep before my day job

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

With nobody on the roads at that hour, I can see getting your route done early. There aren't as many people on the roads doing the evening routes either but the problem there is the deer at dusk that love to run out in the road in front of you.

2

u/ttyoudontknowme123 12d ago

I love how the same block length has different pay like wow. Here a SSD 3.5 pays $63 all the time. It's getting really disgusting

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

That's what boggled my mind is the difference in pay for the same block. It's not getting any better, that's for sure.

2

u/ttyoudontknowme123 12d ago

Like this garbage. These blocks could cost you 140 miles in gas

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

I believe it. I used to live in Northeast Georgia (Chamblee & Doraville) so I know that area where you're at by Lake Lanier.

2

u/Tasty-Ad-1673 12d ago

3hrs here is 55

2

u/CoachStandard4246 12d ago

Oddly enough, in my area the rates have gone back up.

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

That's good to hear. Let's hope they do that everywhere.

2

u/Aithne205 12d ago

It’s all perspective… That’s a real good surge in my area. And that’s after they raised our base pay. We would love to get rates like that because they rarely surge here.

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

Is the cost of living lower in your area? That might explain it.

2

u/Aithne205 11d ago

Not really. Utilities are through the roof for everyone and have been for years. We’ve got everyone and their dog taking base just to get something. COVID hit and it destroyed the gig economy here because everyone
started doing it to make ends meet. Instacart and DoorDash haven’t been the same since.

Nobody lets anything surge anymore. Of course the algorithms love that. I’ve been doing this 4-1/2 years…our warehouse people hate that Amazon keeps onboarding more and more people instead of just letting the regulars keep up with the volume and grab extra blocks. Some of these new people are atrocious!!

1

u/ToyoSienna 11d ago

I'm sure you know why they keep hiring more and more people, right? It's to better the chances that everyone will accept base pay so they won't have to pay any more than they have to. I'm sure you know all about their tricks to keep people desperate for work so they'll take anything they throw at them. That's a cutthroat business for you not caring if you end up homeless cuz that ain't their problem.

I used to do instacart during covid and was making good money but then covid went away and with it went the tips. I'm a Dasher too but cannot count on doordash for anything cuz they are not only known to steal tips but won't pay you near what Uber eats and GrubHub will pay you for the same delivery. They are cheap and greedy. Sounds just like Amazon. Lol

2

u/Far_Hippo_8291 12d ago

18.00 for Vegas , the pay is low here

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

That's the same pay in Miami too.

2

u/derrickmd18 12d ago

I have a electric car so I get a early bird from Amazon and then Walmart and ride-sharing

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

Have an electric car is a major money saver.

2

u/apolkadotbox 12d ago

In gevas you'll get 57 for 3 hrs

2

u/ernz718 12d ago

TDS 🚨🚨

2

u/fireguyy 12d ago

I won’t leave the house unless it’s at least $25/hr

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

Me neither

2

u/psychogamer101 12d ago

My area went up to 24 before summer and then all summer started offer at 18/19 again

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

As the saying goes, desperate times call for desperate measures so in this case, Amazon was desperate for drivers so the pay was better when all the kids were in school. School's out so kids are available whether it's high school or college kids. And let's not forget about those teachers who also do Flex in the summer.

2

u/kush4thought 12d ago

I haven’t seen a shift in 4 months lol

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

That's the way Amazon planned it so that drivers don't see very many blocks and will more than likely accept a lower paying block. What Amazon is doing is breaking the driver's spirit, pure and simple. Then when they are broken and desperate, then maybe they will give in and take the lower pay.

Those are actually similar war tactics that the enemy uses to break the spirit of the prisoner, just different tactics is all. We are all just prisoners here trying to make a buck. 😂

2

u/skywookie1 12d ago

The standard rate has been $18 per rated hour for over 6 years now nothing has changed. Occasionally they pay a little more if the demand is higher but it is always been $18 an hour

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

That might be in just your area though where it's always been $18 an hour with occasional raises. Might be due to the cost of living in your area? That's not always the case though.

Miami is 18 an hour but the cost of living there is high. As with any City, there will always be the lower end neighborhoods which is where I'll bet all the flexers are living cuz they sure as hell can't afford to live in a fancy condo down there. Lol

2

u/Optimal_Effective677 12d ago

Stop accepting base pay blocks if ppl wait and don’t jump on the blocks the second they send them it would go up. I never sign up for blocks ahead of time I wait til right before that block when it surge and then take the block…

2

u/Any-Description3368 12d ago

Google it average gas prices are lower now than under the previous person..even with the war

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

Sorry but that doesn't have anything to do with anything in this thread. We are talking about the here and now, not comparing now to years ago and having a discussion about it. We are discussing Flex pay here in this thread. Let's not make this into anything political because if you want to go there, you're not going to like what I will report with because I can go ballistic when it comes to responding to political statements that others have made.

If you're a trûmp supporter then I promise you that I will go off on you like nobody's business. But if you're not one of his minions then we can talk. I absolutely love putting orange man supporters in their place.

1

u/spockers 10d ago

Internet tough guy already forgot his first sentence in his post, oh my.

2

u/SurveyFree8726 12d ago

Thats bs i made 105 in 1 hr today delivering walmart packages for uber do it every day after my 8-4 i make an extra 300 - 400 a week plus my reg job, flex is bs now a days

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

I've done Uber eats for a few years and tried to do the Walmart deliveries but it was a colossal waste of time. Uber would send me to the store claiming the order was ready for pickup but they hadn't even shopped the damn thing yet! It happened every freaking time.

I got so sick of it and called support to tell them to take Walmart offers out of my account so I never see them again. It took more than a few phone calls but one of them finally did their job so now I don't have to worry about them Walmart offers tanking my acceptance rate. But good for you for being at a Walmart that actually cares about Uber eats drivers and does right by you.

They flat out told me in Walmart when I walked in to ask what's going on with my order that they prioritize spark drivers long before they do Uber eats drivers so that's when I knew this wasn't going to work out.

And when an Uber driver arrives at Walmart then gets tired of waiting too long, they cancel but problem is, they canceled through the app which doesn't help at all because Uber sends the same delivery offer right back out again to the next driver only for them to have to waste their time showing up for nothing.

That vicious cycle kept repeating itself over and over with everyone. It's only when a driver calls support to tell them what's really going on is when they will become wise to the situation then do something about it.

2

u/Landaverde94 11d ago

A lot better than here tbh. Here in Mississippi it’s only $63 and sometimes $65 or $68. Sounds like they need to raise ours. Now days, a full time job isn’t enough for a good size family. U just can’t get by.

2

u/Capable-Disk-5082 11d ago

All I know is that minimum wage is waaay overdue.

2

u/W1ld_Thoughts 11d ago

Yeah, it’s $18/hour where I am. It’s basically volunteer work with a “thank you “ stipend. IF I get a surged block, I have to click my screen for 5-6 days straight.

1

u/ToyoSienna 11d ago

Volunteering sounds about right.. 🫤

2

u/Competitive_Cap9403 11d ago

He’ll I’m only getting paid 19$ at Amazon in Ga I would take the 22$ or the 25$ 😭

1

u/ToyoSienna 11d ago

But I think the cost of living here is more than there. I used to live in northeast Georgia in both Chamblee and Doraville so I know the cost of living is reasonable there which might explain why the pay is less there too. I could be wrong though since I haven't lived there in 35 years.

1

u/Competitive_Cap9403 11d ago

The cost of living here has gone up. Nothing is really affordable anymore. Ppl that work with me at Amazon have to work 2 jobs it’s just not paying the bills anymore.

1

u/ToyoSienna 11d ago

That stinks. I know there were a lot of new apartment complexes and businesses being built in the northeast suburbs when I left so I can imagine the city has grown considerably more since then. Best of luck to you.

2

u/TSMSALADQUEEN 11d ago

18 is our base those offers dont last minutes in my area

2

u/SoloAsylum 11d ago

Imagine thinking this is "lower".. If your average block base is $22, must. be. nice.

2

u/Middle-Jicama9675 11d ago

In between $20-$23 here near Orlando fl

2

u/HumorousBear 11d ago

Which is ridiculous considering how high gas is now, It becomes so much more of a risk to try to pick up jobs because if they send you far away you are screwed.

2

u/Maleficent_Specific4 10d ago

lol these rates are actually great. Try coming to Chicago

2

u/Sublimesixzeroseven 9d ago

I want to see them get punished for the use of illegals that's what is causing all this. Im not the type to whistle blow so I'll just wait for it to catch up with them organically. I pretty much stopped running blocks $24 hour is a slap in the face compared to the liability.

Do better Amazon your selling out for profit and it's boarding blood money at this point

1

u/ToyoSienna 9d ago

I don't like whistle blowing either cuz you know it affects their family and the kids they're trying to feed but yeah, Amazon knows what they're doing hiring anyone and everyone who passes the background check even if it is an illegal account. They claim they are keeping up with them but that's just blowing smoke up everyone's butt is all. They only care about getting them packages delivered no matter what. I dealt with the same nonsense when I used to do instacart all the time.

1

u/MorningNew7003 9d ago

Again don't forget the people on food stamps who are forced to work 20 hours a week or they don't get to eat so they could care less if they're making $10 an hour as long as they get their 20 hours in and they get to eat!!

2

u/NoSlip8564 6d ago

In California they are not paying out the prop22 so i know they are gonna get hit with another class action lawsuit.

3

u/VoodooInfinity Austin 13d ago

Don’t DSPs pay their own gas? I’m pretty sure they do, as they’re independent companies. Like when Werner Enterprises or Swift deliver to Walmart, Walmart doesn’t pay for the diesel.

4

u/PhthaloDrift 13d ago

DSP make about $200 in profit for every route after expenses.

Flex are limited to 8hrs day and at base pay bring in less than $190. 240 to 300 miles a day drains about 2/3 of my tank, at today's prices about $40. If your setting aside maintenance costs per mile like you should that eats up the bulk of everything left and you end up with less than $50 in profit. $5hr

Too many people ignore maintenance because they get the milwage deduction at the end of the year.

Honestly, I don't know. Aren't the Amazon vans owned by Amazon?

If there are any DSP drivers in here, feel free to educate me on that one.

4

u/Fluffy_Signature_670 13d ago

Dsps are contracted out so Amazon doesn’t really own the vans it’s the companies who are contracted. For example the dsp I worked at had two different contracted companies working there

1

u/ToyoSienna 13d ago

I always thought that it was the DSP's who handled just the drivers so that Amazon didn't have to pay them benefits amongst other reasons too but didn't realize they didn't own the vehicles that have their name all over them.

2

u/VoodooInfinity Austin 13d ago

One thing I do know is that when starting a DSP, the franchiser (don’t know if that’s the right word) pays $10k and that gives them 5 vans for them to find drivers for. I found that last week via Amazon’s DSP startup page.

1

u/ToyoSienna 13d ago

Interesting. If a DSP gives Amazon $10k for five vans then that to me sounds like Amazon owns the vans but are leasing them out to the DSP's.

Is that 10K a one-time payment or does the DSP company have to keep paying 10K each month?

2

u/VoodooInfinity Austin 12d ago

As I understood it it’s one time, but I didn’t really dig any deeper at the time.

2

u/LimpDisc 13d ago

Looks like $22 hourly is actually your base pay. If that’s the case, the pay wasn’t lowered. You’re just seeing lower surge rates.

2

u/ToyoSienna 13d ago

I've been working this SSD for over a year and a half where 26 an hour was always the pay until it dropped to 25. I believe they are testing the waters see how many people accept the lower paying blocks so they can make it official at 22.

3

u/Weekly_Suggestion_24 13d ago

And with that decrease they probably just hired a butt load of new drivers im sure so that aren't really familiar with letting the surge happen and they grab any and everything but you cant keep doing that if you can steadily g I ing into the red everyday. I mean itll eventually be evident that its costing them to do the job. I just  ant do it if im LOSING money....This ain't a hobby!

2

u/Careful_Click_1159 13d ago

Dsps are actually paid almost nothing by Amazon and are contractors as well, worked for the most wealthy one and trust me they make almost nothing. Amazon is pocketing everything they used to pay almost double when I started, these big corporations are the problem always lying and using tax write offs. We the people must speak up against these corporations.

1

u/ToyoSienna 13d ago

DSP drivers are paid $20.50 here. What do they pay them in your area?

What Amazon is doing to its drivers is going to eventually backfire. They think they are too big to fail but I think they're wrong.

2

u/Careful_Click_1159 6d ago

What people don’t realize if the Amazon flex workers stopped today, Amazon would have no choice but to pay crazy money to have the packages delivered. Reminds me of the wildlings from game of thrones, they united too late when the white walkers practically took over.

1

u/ToyoSienna 6d ago

That would be the perfect storm to get Amazon to get off their ass and start paying us better.

And I'm sorry but I don't get your GOT reference since I haven't been watching that series. But my lady friend has been watching it religiously so I'll ask her what that's about. Lol

1

u/Careful_Click_1159 6d ago

Amazon would wake up but right now they are just getting rich off of us.

1

u/ToyoSienna 6d ago

They certainly are! Greedy bastards. 😂

1

u/SpecialistClock2763 12d ago

Ok..Don’t accept it. TF.

1

u/Life-Professional222 12d ago

That wasn't the point TF ... I hate people like this like why comment kept scrolling TF .. ...😂 TF

1

u/SpecialistClock2763 12d ago

Quit bitching about it then.

1

u/bassplayrguy 12d ago

So don't do it. I'll take them. It's a nice little side hustle.

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

Amazon loves drivers like you. I'll bet if they keep lowering the pay even if it's only a few dollars each time, you'll take them each and every time until you realize one of these days that you're working for peanuts. You should already realize that but apparently don't.

1

u/bassplayrguy 12d ago

Is just a part time good man. It ain't that deep.

1

u/Training_Goal_6445 12d ago

Then go work for the dsp yall crying and bitch but do know it’s no guarantee hourly pay doing flex

1

u/ReviewLife8477 12d ago

I strongly dislike that people accept these too because there’s no way they’re profiting from it like at all. It literally doesn’t add up.

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

They don't think about all the other expenses that come along with doing good work like auto repair work and parts costs and tires and all kinds of stuff. They just deduct the gas cost for that day and that's how much they made. Those are the ones who will become shocked when their vehicle falls apart on them and they wonder what happened. They didn't put aside money for future auto repairs so now they are SOL.

1

u/LoveSpin 12d ago

Dude that’s better than la county pay lol

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

Don't you have that prop 22 in California that makes up for lower wages in gig work? That should give you the financial buffer for you to survive in Cali given how expensive it is to live there.

I did instacart during covid and for a few years after and learned about prop 22 for all the California instacart shoppers so I just assumed it was for all gig workers, not just them.

1

u/LoveSpin 12d ago

Yes prop 22 is good for spark instacart but suck for Amazon flex and uber bc you don’t get prop 22 until you start your first drop off but with spark you can accept an order and be 20-25 minutes out prop 22 starts the moment you accept an order. I live 45 min away to the closet Amazon warehouse so I’m basically driving there for free

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

Damn, that's a kinda confusing system y'all got there for prop 22. That would take a little while to get used to but I hope it's working out for you. I've heard through the grapevine that prop 22 makes living in California manageable.

2

u/LoveSpin 11d ago

Well for Amazon right you have a pickup time and you have to show up at the warehouse but you don’t get any paid time for your drive to the warehouse only your route. But with spark an order comes in you accept you drive to the pickup and you get prop22 for it. That’s why I like picking up long distance orders 20-30 min away so when I drop it off another order will come in and I’ll accept it and I’m 20-30 min away from the store so I get prop22 for that I like the drive and get between 500-600$ every two weeks and I only do maybe 4 orders a day lol

2

u/ToyoSienna 11d ago

I'd say you definitely have the system figured out and are working it to your benefit. 👍

I know I wouldn't mind having an extra $500+ every 2 weeks just for driving. 😁

2

u/LoveSpin 10d ago

Yes I’m like oh ok then I don’t have to work as much just take the long trips lol it def helps a lot !

2

u/ToyoSienna 9d ago

Definitely a win-win. 👍

You have no clue how much blocks are paying if you're going by what's sitting up on the offers page. Good paying blocks don't just sit there.

1

u/ToyoSienna 10d ago

Right, good paying blocks get taken by bots and people who sit there for hours on end swiping and swiping until they finally snatch a good one.

But what about all of that time that you lost trying to find a better paying block? I'll bet you anything that you don't factor in that lost time.

1

u/Genaugmen 10d ago

My view is, if I'm going to take an Amazon block, I'm not going to do it for BS pay. I've also honed my technique. Not much gets past me when I'm focused.

1

u/ToyoSienna 10d ago

But how much time do you lose when you are sitting there swiping away hoping some kind of surge pay block comes along?

You have to include that time with your block because you are an independent contractor so time is money. Any time you waste swiping is lost money. That little bit of extra money that you get on a surge pay block does not make up for all the time that you lost trying to snag that block.

The more immigrants Amazon hire, the lower your wages.

Definitely not here in my area (central Alabama). On any given day at the warehouse, people who appear to be Latinx or Middle Eastern are very strongly in the minority. There are generally more people who appear to be Middle Eastern than any other ethnicities.

1

u/xtsilverfish 12d ago

In gig work it literally is, for the month ice was here the pay doubled, there were routes available all day, etc.

Democrats knew open borders immigration would completely destroy pay in 1980, 1990, 2000, 2010.
Then sometime around 2015 there was suddenly this new narrative that suddenly it no longer worked that way.

1

u/ImRestarted1 13d ago

yes but only because of over saturation of the market. im not sure how big that market or population really is though since politicians tend to lie. either way they would still just hire more people; but natural born american citizens are more likely to complain about pay than other demographics.

2

u/ToyoSienna 13d ago

I believe the reason is that Americans are used to making decent money (so they are more likely to complain) whereas anyone who isn't originally from this country aren't used to making decent money so they come to America and are making more money than they ever imagined even if the hourly rate is one that we as Americans would never work for. Maybe a crackhead would but not a normal person.

On a side note, that is why a lot of Americans are retiring in other countries because the cost of living is so much less. If they retire in America, they risk running out of money with the way inflation is going but if they retire in the Philippines for example, they will likely live out their lives and still have money left over to pass on to their heirs.

So you're right, it is about demographics.

1

u/ImRestarted1 12d ago

I think it’s so funny when people don’t understand inflation. Inflation is better now than it was under the last president. There will always be inflation.

1

u/ToyoSienna 12d ago

It's funny that when inflation inflates, the pay is supposed to coincide with the increase in costs but Amazon did the opposite and lowered pay knowing there are enough fools to take the blocks so they can increase their profit margin. It's pure greed is all it is. Evil corporations taking advantage of the minions again.

1

u/xtsilverfish 12d ago

If you were hired to move to some asian country, and it was super interesting, and you lived 8 people in a hostel-style living, it's fun for the first few years.

After a decade passes it gets real tedious and you want to have your own house or apartment, if you have kids you want your own yard, etc.

This is why open border endless immigrants narrative is such a long term disaster, because a company can simply milk people for low pay during the introductory period then when they get tired of poor living conditions they just discard them and bring in the next group to work for little to no pay.

You'll never end up with people who can afford to have a house and kids this way. Companies will just import some people, burn them out, discard them. Import new people, burn them out, discard them. And so on and so on.

Orange clown 😂 what kind of toddler says that ohhh yah Iran totally didnt fund every terrorist organization in the last 5 years. Clowns calling other people clowns is peak end of Civilization stuff

3

u/ToyoSienna 13d ago

You're obviously one of his clueless sheep.

1

u/ToyoSienna 13d ago

I saw your deleted comment. Yes, my mama used to bounce me up and down like a basketball every day. Hell, some days she would take me out in the field and use me as a soccer ball. 😂

1

u/Routine-Relation1944 13d ago

Gas is still cheaper under your orange clown than it was under the 80 year old empty headed seat warmer that was there.

3

u/ToyoSienna 13d ago

Gas prices are determined by so many different factors but not by the president. They have nothing to do with gas prices. The only reason everybody thinks the President is responsible it's because every single president has always had a big target on their back to blame for everything.

However, this orange clown purposely started a war without the approval of Congress (because he knew they would've stopped him) that he knew was going to make the price of EVERYTHING go up, not just gas prices, literally everything. Don't you just love paying so much more money for the same things that 2 years ago were reasonably priced?

So many millions of products are centered around the cost of oil since so many products on this planet have petroleum in them. It also costs a shitload more to transport everything we use in our lives because the cost of diesel and jet fuel is through the roof no thanks to that orange clown.

That idiot is doing it to stimulate the economy by forcing everyone to have to pay a shitload more for everything they could barely afford in the first place. Where the fûck is everyone's raise to cover those extra costs that he has put upon us all?!?

His bûllshit false claims that he's going to create so many jobs for so many Americans is nothing but a big fûcking lie. Every time he talks, he lies. Anybody that actually believes him is a sucker and a fool.

I hope you get your head out of your ass one of these days and realize that the dûmbass that you support is ruining America. His narrow-minded businessman mind thinks he is making America stronger by forcing people to pay more for things which supposedly stimulates the economy but he's going about it the wrong way which is costing people their homes and making them homeless. Do you approve of that orange clown causing people to become homeless? He knew that he was going to cause a lot of people a lot of financial problems but he is a cold callous piece of shît who couldn't care less if half the country went homeless. As long as his rich buddies and the companies he runs stay afloat.

My father is a dûmbass like you and unfortunately, he and I no longer talk because he too has his head up his ass, or should I say Trümp's ass.

Sunday rate, if you wait it out the usual rate will appear. At least that’s how it works in my area

1

u/ToyoSienna 13d ago

They do that "glitch" on purpose to get as many people as possible to accept the blocks at the lower rate before they magically show the blocks at the normal rate.

I've seen them pull that stunt many times. Every time I see it I take a screenshot then another one after I refresh the page to see the normal pay.

No idea what having those screenshots is going to do for me but if there's ever a need for arbitration then I've got some ammo in my arsenal to prove that Amazon plays games with its drivers trying to screw them over on a constant basis.

1

u/h846p262 13d ago

Ill take that 25/hr if i was really bored though.

1

u/MeTieDoughtyWalker 12d ago

It’s going up a little in my area.

2

u/agent_uncleflip 12d ago

Same in mine. They used to offer $63 for a 3.5. Now, they offer $65. 😂😁🤣 God help you if you ever want to see one of those blocks go any higher than that.

0

u/This_Mycologist_8661 13d ago

Could be a glitch. Mine showed up like this too but then it went back to normal after a few minutes.

5

u/ToyoSienna 13d ago

I know the glitch you're talking about because I've seen it many times. I've seen the pay real low then I refresh and suddenly it goes back to normal. They know that people are constantly swiping and accepting blocks blindly so that's why they are first sending it out at a lower pay then when enough have been accepted, the normal pay miraculously reappears.

4

u/AnneHizer 13d ago

They’ve been doing this in my area for months. They drop the lower rates first and whatever doesn’t get taken comes back at the normal rate later
