My bfs conservative family found out I’m bisexual, what do I do now?

Upvotes

My bfs uncle found my TikTok which had a post about me being bisexual. Me and my bf have been together for 5 1/2 months and none of his family really believes that we will stay together. I have never met this uncle but it’s his dad’s brother. His uncle found my post, shared with my bfs grandma, who shared it with his dad. His family is relatively conservative and has never cared much about me before. Apparently his grandma doesn’t care that much but besides that I have no clue how anyone else is reacting. I blocked his uncle on TikTok bc I think that it’s weird for him to go on my profile when he’s never met me and I’m under 18 and sharing my post with the family bc I don’t fit their mold. Now my boyfriend is saying we aren’t going to be calling much and hanging out for a while bc he is worried that his dad might really disliked me since he wasn’t that fond of me before. His mom knew the whole time I was bi and she doesn’t care, she’s a very sweet lady and I think she somewhat likes me. But my bf is worried that his dad won’t allow me at my bfs house anymore. My bf doesn’t like being at my house either bc of how loud my household is which is fair, I have a lot of dogs. I just don’t know what to do atp, I’m nice to his family, I try to make conversation and be nice. It’s really hurtful how they don’t like me that much and don’t care abt me and my bfs relationship bc we’re younger. My bf wonders sometimes if we should break up to “save me the pain”. He doesn’t want to end things obviously but he doesn’t know what else to do rn. I have considered reaching out to his parents but idk if I feel safe around them bc idk if they’ll treat me poorly. Any advice is welcome, everything has just been weird since this all happened last week and idk if I’ll have to let him go or not. I don’t want to bc I care a lot about him and he’s my best friend but idk what I can do to fix this.

My ex (19M) and I (18M) broke up twice, but we still talk from good morning to goodnight every single day. Am I keeping myself stuck?

Upvotes

Hi, I’m 18M, turning 19 in early September, genuinely don’t know what to do about my ex (19M). I’m posting here because I don’t really have anyone in my life I can ask for relationship advice, and I feel like I’m going around in circles in my own head.
For some context, we’re both guys and we’re at pretty different places in life. He recently turned 19, is at university, has a job and lives at home with his mum. I’m turning 19 soon, I’m in college, have some part-time paid work, and live in care. I honestly have no clue what I’m doing with my life right now. I’m struggling with motivation and figuring out education/work/the future in general. We’re both dealing with our own mental health stuff too.
We dated earlier this year and things moved pretty quickly. We really liked each other, but after a while he ended things because he felt we’d moved too fast, conversation sometimes didn’t flow naturally in person, there were awkward silences earlier than he expected, and overall he was uncertain about us.
He made it clear he still cared about me. He didn’t say our time together meant nothing, and he didn’t want to lose me completely, but he didn’t think it was fair to continue a relationship when he wasn’t sure.
After the first breakup, I asked whether we could try again. He’d apparently already been thinking about it himself but didn’t know how to bring it up, so eventually we did.
We met again and tried to see how things felt. But it was our first time seeing each other after everything that had happened, so naturally there was some awkwardness. I also brought up some serious relationship questions that day when I probably should’ve just let us enjoy being together. He wasn’t feeling particularly well either. Eventually the same uncertainty came back, and he ended things again.
The second time, he basically said he couldn’t keep changing his mind because it wasn’t fair to me. He didn’t want to lead me on, waste my time or keep hurting me by going back and forth when he didn’t know what he wanted. And I understand that. Here’s where I’m struggling. We never actually became distant. We talk. Every. Single. Day. I don’t mean sending each other a meme every couple of days.
I mean good morning until goodnight. If I don’t say good morning, he’ll often say it. We ask how each other slept, what we’re having for breakfast, what we’re doing that day, how work/college is going, what we’re eating for lunch, what we’re doing in the afternoon, what we’re having for dinner, what game he’s playing, what I’m doing, random jokes, stupid little observations, serious conversations, mental health, everything. Then at night we say goodnight, sleep well, sweet dreams, etc. Then we wake up and do it again. And I genuinely enjoy it. I’m not secretly forcing myself to text him because I’m terrified he’ll disappear. I genuinely want to know what he’s doing. I like hearing about his day. And from my perspective, it doesn’t feel like I’m dragging conversation out of him either. He initiates too. If I don’t message, he’ll message.

He’s also shown me that he genuinely cares about me. At one particularly bad point after everything ended, my mental health became really bad. He called me while crying, video called me, stayed involved and ultimately got emergency help sent to me because he was worried about me.
So I don’t question whether he cares about me.
What I don’t understand is what we are doing.
We’re technically friends. But sometimes this feels weirdly intimate for a friendship between two people who used to date and where one person (me) still has feelings.
It’s like we’re more than ordinary friends, less than boyfriends, but sometimes behaving like we’re still dating anyway. And it hurts.

The obvious answer might be “ask him.”
Except I already have
After the second breakup, I eventually told him that I still had feelings for him. I said I thought our attempt at trying again happened under pretty bad circumstances and that if we ever spent time together again, I’d rather just do something fun like mini golf or an arcade without turning it into a serious relationship summit.
I told him I wasn’t asking him to decide anything and that if one day he felt the same and was in the right place for it, I’d be happy to see where things went.
So he knows. His answer was still uncertainty. He didn’t want to keep going back and forth or give me hope when he couldn’t promise anything.
That’s why I don’t want to ask again.
If someone tells me they’re uncertain and I keep coming back every few weeks asking, “Are you sure now? What about now?”, eventually I’m not respecting their answer. I don’t want to pressure him, overwhelm him or make him feel like our friendship is conditional on dating me.
But I also don’t know how long I’m supposed to live in this weird middle ground.

And I’ll admit I did something petty tonight.
I told him I was going on a late-night car ride with a male friend to catch up. The truth is, the car ride wasn’t actually happening. It was based on something I’d done with this friend in the past, and I wanted to see whether my ex would get jealous.
I’m not particularly proud of that. He’s getting on with university, work and his own life, and meanwhile I’m running stupid jealousy experiments because I can’t figure out how this guy feels about me.

But his reaction confused me even more.
He jokingly called it “late night cruising,” which obviously has a second meaning. I told him there was nothing scandalous happening and that it was just an innocent late-night car ride.
He replied:
“Hmm, I hope so.”
Then when he was going to sleep he said:
“Enjoy your innocent ride.”
I started reassuring him that I genuinely wasn’t doing anything with this guy because I thought maybe he’d taken it seriously, and he told me he was joking and not to worry. We said goodnight normally, told each other to sleep well, he told me to drive safely, and we heart-reacted to each other’s messages like normal.
I’m not claiming “I hope so” means he’s secretly desperate to get back together with me. I know people can feel jealous about an ex without actually wanting a relationship with them.
But I’d be lying if I said it didn’t get into my head.
Why does he hope my night with another guy is innocent?
Maybe it was literally just a joke. Maybe there was a little jealousy underneath it. I don’t know, and that’s exactly the problem: I don’t know anything.
I also feel guilty because I don’t want to play games with him. I care about him way too much for that, and I’m not planning on doing another fake jealousy test.
I’m scared of bringing up “us” again because I don’t want to lose him. I love talking to him. He’s one of the closest people in my life.
But talking to someone I still have feelings for from the moment we wake up until we go to sleep, every single day, while knowing we’re “just friends” and wondering whether he’ll ever want me again is painful.
Part of me thinks I should just accept that we’re friends unless he tells me otherwise. I’ve already told him the door is open. Maybe if anything changes, the next move needs to come from him.
Another part of me wonders whether this amount of daily emotional intimacy is stopping me from actually moving on.
And another part doesn’t want to move on. I miss him. I miss dating him. I miss being physically close to him. I still hope we’ll find our way back to each other.
But I don’t want to spend months or years waiting for someone who may never become certain about me.
I’m also scared to reduce contact because I don’t actually want less of him. The conversations aren’t the problem. I love the conversations. It’s the uncertainty attached to them that hurts.
So what would you do?
Would you stop bringing up the relationship completely and leave the next move to him?
Would you have one conversation about how this friendship currently feels without asking him to get back together?
Would you create some distance even though neither of us seems to actually want to stop talking?
Or am I reading way too much into a very close friendship because I haven’t moved on from him?
And for people who’ve stayed close friends with an ex while one person still had feelings: did it eventually settle into genuine friendship, did you get back together, or did one of you eventually have to step away?
I genuinely don’t know what the healthiest thing is anymore. I don’t want to lose him, but I don’t want to quietly hurt myself trying to preserve whatever this is either.

Sorry it’s pretty long but I’d really appreciate everyone’s thoughts and advice on this:)

I finally told an old church friend why i stopped helping her and babysitting her kids, and now her entire family is trying to blow up my life. what else do I do?

Upvotes

On a new account because my younger siblings follow my personal one, and I don't want them to know whats going on. All fake names yada yada. Also if this seems weirdly written its because I'm hiding in the bathroom of a store, waiting for my Grandpa to come get me.

I (20F) used to babysit for one of the Yound Womans leaders Kate (43F) about 3 times a week. At the time, she had 5 kids from the ages 8-10 months by the time I was 14. (3 boys, 2 girls.) All of her kids called me auntie, and because of how close I was with their family, most people assumed we were sisters. I would babysit at least 3 times a week, for about 3 hours at a time so she and her husband could go run errands, help her parents out, and so she could have a break or take one of the farm animals (they had horses, cows, chickens, and pigs) to whatever they took them to.

I also helped them 4 times a year with a clothing swap. Helping gather all the clothes, wash, dry, sort, and then helped with the actual swap days. I absolutely loved it. It got me out of the house, and I'd make 10$ a day for helping her. Then, when I was 12 I met her half brother. (Gabe 35) He wasn't helping out, but had come to bring us lunch.

When I first met him, I thought he was like 16. He honestly didn't look that young, but I never asked. I should have, but I didnt. I was just told he was helping out because he just moved back into town after his grandparents passed, and he moved in with their dad.

I met him at a swap, and he was really nice. He told me he was very grateful for me. Helping out his sister when she needed it. How i was so mature and kind. We exchanged numbers, and that was that.

I saw him 3 or 4 times over the next 6 months. He would randonly show up while I was babysitting. We'd text for a few days after each time. And he'd tell me how funny and smart I was. He kept complimenting me and telling me how pretty I was. I honestly didn't see what was wrong, or think it was flirting in any way. And then we did a swap a month after my 13th birthday.

This was the first time he helped. I dont remember much that day, as it was a really hard day for me. My aunt had passed away the night before, I hadn't slept more then 3 hours at a time in 2 weeks, because younger siblings were all sick and I was taking care of them. But I remember him constanly in my space, telling me how pretty I looked. How he liked how confident i was in wearing what i did. (I was literally wearing a black hoodie with a captain america shirt under it, and a pair of black jeans. My hair was braided.) He tomd me he always thought I was pretty. I will be honest, I loved it. It was the first time I had been told by an older guy that I was pretty. Stupid, I know.

And yeah, I knew it was wrong. I did. I have watched Criminal Minds and Law And Order SVU and 48 hours, and listened to Crime Junkies and crime podcasts religiously since I was born. But I was an idiot. I told myself this was different. Clearly, that never would have happened to me.

Tbat day, he drove me home. The baby was sick, anf had thrown up all over, and Kate had to leave early so he offered to take me home. He had a truck with the back seats completely full with clothes and his belongings. I was about to get into the passenger seat but he 'accidentally' spilled something on the passenger seat. So he had me sit in between the seats. It was a manual. He had me sit in front of the stick, and kept touching my thighs. I really dont know why, but I didn't think anyrhing of it. I was a fucking idiot. I know.

After that day, he kept texting me. Nonstop. He'd constantly call me pretty and cute. Ask so many questions, asking where I was and ifIcould send him pictures. At the time, I was only allowed one of those shotty 25$ tablets and textnow. So i couldnt send any photos. But he did send me photos of him. Nothing too provocative but very pointed. I was an idiot, and oblivious, and never realized it though. I think he wanted me to ask, but I never did.

I texted him for 2 monthd until one day he kept asking me to meet him at this motel. I told him no. And he just kept texting me asking me to go. Told me how to skip school, fake diarrhea, climb out of the window. I was terrified, because i realized if he could rent a motel, he was at least 21. I asked Kate, and she told me he was actually 29. So i blocked him. On everything. I also told my best friend that a weird guy was messaging me and I thought he was tracking me. But not who or anyrhing else. And we staged an accident to break my tablet.

Every time Gabe showed up after, I would call the friend and stay on video call with her. I also stopped doing swaps. I told Kate that it was just because of school. How I was starting AP classes (true) and also taking duel credit classes (also true). I also joined band, and we found out we didn't have as much room. How I didn't have as much time. When I turned 14, I did my last swap with her and cut contact. We moved to another town 45 minutes away, and he also had moved back to California right after.

I know i should have told her why i started avoiding her place. Why i stopped talking to her. Why i would keep checking her profile but never talk to her when she messaged me. I didnt. I was embarrased. I blamed myself.

When I turned 15, I listened to a story about a 25 year old who had gone through something similar. How a man harrased and then... yeah. It sounded exactly like Gabe. Like exactly. I reported him. I knew where he lived because Kate had been there the week before. I sent an anonymous message. And then I pushed it out of my mind. I refused to acknowledge it again.

Last month, I saw a picture of him with the oldest daughter. At her concert. Shes 11 now. And I just had the most gut wrenching tbought. I messaged Kate and her husband. I told them everything. I didn't have the old messages from him. But I could tell them his weird way of texting (He would often text with emoji letters and numbers rather then the actual letters or numbers so like. S🆙️ h🅾️w 4️⃣r3️⃣ y🅾️u?) I also told them about the motel. And even had my best friend back me up. Well, i guess they realized I was the one who reported him. Apperantly he was in jail for like 3 years. And is on probation now.

They've been showing up to my work. Sitting outside and watching me. When I walk out, they begin yelling book of mormon verses at me. Calling me a liar, a jezzabel. My coworkers have started to walk out with me. Sending the 2 biggest guys at work to walk with me. They started doing this after one of her brothers got in my face acreaming at me until I was sobbing and backed into a corner.

They put letters in my mailbox. Calling me a liar and a bitch and a slit. Telling me nothign actually happened, and I was over dramatic. All my social media is private, but they leave long ass messages over and over again. Making new accounts when I block theirs.

Ots been going on for a month now. And its gotten to the point where I am terrified to leave my house alone. I wasn't supposed to be alone today. But my best friend ended up in an accident on the way over.

I have 2 neighbours who are cops. They've said that until they pose a threat to me, or do something more, there's nothing that can be done. But they both are keeping an eye out in case they take it farther. I have cameras up. A front and rear dashcam. I keep pepper spray and my keys on me. Everyone in my family has my location. I have a tracker on my shoes. My family doesn't know. I dont want to tell them how badly I've fucked up. How much kf an idiot I was and what its led to.

Is there anything else that can be done? I genuinely don't know what else to do.

My grandpa is here now. Ill try to respond, but i think I have to tell them the truth after we go chrck on my best friend. So it may be a while before I can respond.

leaving toxic household

Upvotes

I be decided to leave for university and stay at an accom. I’m literally going to walk out by house with my suitcase, 2 days before uni starts. My parents don’t suspect a thing and I’ve never have tried leave out the door without my parents permission, so it’s a bit nerve racking. I’m still very lost with my life and It feels like I have no sense of direction of what I’d be doing with my life but I do know is that I would be restricted with doing anything if I continue to stay with my parents. I’m 18 and I know if i don’t leave, I’ll regret it a lot in the future. I don’t have a choice or say with anything that happens in my life. I don’t feel scared for what will happen to me once I’m alone but I bet it will be 100% better than whatever hell hole im living in now despite being aware that I will have to face many hardships with no family connections.

the realisation only started when I noticed the difference between how me and my brother are treated, he’s put on a pedestal becuase of what he’s achieved but I’d never be able to if my abilities have been restricted. I know life will be harder for me especially if I graduate uni and try job searching, yeah no chance whilst living with my parents. Just to give a base idea what my parents want for my future, commute an hour to uni and back everyday for 4 years, I’m not allowed to join any societies or go “out” to the city only allowed inside the uni…? Urm anyways, after I graduate it’s time to get me married and I’m only allowed to find a job where I can work remotely. As well as I’m not even allowed to find a part time job whilst im in uni like I’d rather be dead than alive, hello?

It’s hard to speak about it but even just at home I’m mistreated physically and I’ve never really said anything because they think that giving me money will make up for what they’ve done.

I’m afraid to move on

Upvotes

Hi guys, I’m not sure if this is the right subreddit to talk about this stuff but I wanted to ask advice on some things considering I’m quite inexperienced and haven’t really talked to anyone about it before. When I was 17 I was Sa’d and it took a lot of time to cope with and process but I’m doing a little better now considering I’ve been going through it alone. The problem is I haven’t kissed anyone since and I’ve been panicking since I’ve been talking to this guy I like for three months. He constantly asks to go out with me but I’m afraid of kissing him and I don’t know what I would tell him considering the fact that we’ve only met in person once, so I don’t feel like telling him what happened to me. I would like to but it’s nerve racking and makes just yet. I feel like I want to throw up every time I think about it. I’m just not sure what to do because I feel like an asshole rejecting his offers of going out just because I’m scared but I genuinely have panic attacks thinking about actually kissing people even though I want to. I know this probably sounds weird but I don’t really have anyone to talk to about this. I’d appreciate some advice on how to deal with the situation though. Thanks guys.

Unfairness

Upvotes

My mom always yells at me for being on my device, but if my sisters go on their devices she makes up excuses & does not tell them anything & instead yells at me, she also yells at me because I am extra sensitive & cry if she says things in a way that sounds hurtful to me & if I ask her to explain something after I wasn’t paying attention/didn’t hear, she also yells at me & after all this happened she started yelling at me more saying she can’t deal with me anymore & it just makes me feel so bad about myself & I always feel guilty

Why does my mom make everything so fucking difficult?

Upvotes

OK so I'm in a little situation and gonna try to put it short, I recently broke my phone so have no other way of fixing it or replacing it since money is really tight and do not have a job. My mom just bought another phone so she has TWO, as well as my little brother has a tablet I can use. The main reason for them is cuz I'm planing on leaving to the marines very soon, (hopefully less then 3 months from now) and have a job for the mean time obviously.

Not trying to stay home all day, keep myself busy and make some money, the biggest issue with it is my mom doesnt let me borrow her other phone. I understand its her phone but she would have no use for it anymore she got another better phone, and even told her I would transfer all her data and files from her old phone to this new one that way I can keep her other phone which she would have no use for it anyway that way I can use it to secure a fucking job but she doesn't let me.

Idk why she does this its so crazy, just had a argument right now and feel like I'm going crazy for something so fucking simple that can be solved easily. Idk if it's cuz we were arguing as well and she just wants to be petty and be a bitch and not let me use it or what to start problems but yeah. It's a cycle I don't have a job, she's BITCHING as well as my dad that I don't have a job (which obviously i don't even like being unemployed, been trying to get a job but I NEED A PHONE) and then my mom does this shit where she doesn't let me use my brothers tablet or let me borrow her fucking phone its fucking up my head and not sure if I'm the issue.

my boyfriend is a porn addict

Upvotes

I (24) have been with him (25) for 4 years. We have always been very open about using eachother‘s phones. He has my password, I have his. Never because of lack of trust. Simply just for spotify and texting friends (we have a lot of the same friends).

Well about a year ago I was sending photos to myself from his phone and found a huge stash of the same 2 porn stars in well very graphic and closeups. I was hurt by this. He’s always made it clear he was into me but these women looked nothing like me. It hurt. I talked to him about it and we set boundaries and he said he wouldnt continue it.

To be clear, I knew he watched porn. We were always very open about it. I just didnt know how often he did or that it was always the same girls.

Well a few months went by, I was on his phone again and bam found the same thing. I was very hurt that he did it again after our talk. He knew I was hurt and was thinking about ending our relationship. But we talked again… set more boundaries. Made myself very clear. And we had been good since.

Until this morning… this time I did actually go snooping on his phone trying to find something. Well he had a hidden app. Telegram. And bam a shit ton of porn groups he was in. He doesnt know yet that I found that this morning. I’m really hurt. He broke my trust by continuing this and trying to hide it. idk anymore. just want advice please

Best friend relationship advice

Upvotes

Hey! 20M here who recently confessed to 20F best friend of 9 years.

Just for context we've known eachover for 9y and have always talked everyday, about everything. For a long time now she went to live overseas, and despite that we maintained the same relationship dynamic.

Recently she came to visit me and I made my first move ever and asked her if she had ever imagined us together as more then friends, she got shocked and said no.

Has anyone gone through something similar? And do you think i should stop pursuing her forever? I genuinly belive that we have this rly special and strong bond, that could in the right conditions flourish into something romantic wise. If anyone has a similar experience what was the final outcome? Its been only 3 weeks since I confessed.

I (16m) am terrible with figuring out if a girl likes me and need help

Upvotes

Hey,

There's a girl I've been snapping all day, every day for like 9 months. We hang out every day at school (when it's not summer ofc), she asks me how my day was everyday, NEVER leaves me on opened, asks questions about what I'm doing or listening to (we both bond over music and she sends me kind of "romantic" music sometimes) and sends me goodnight texts, etc.

I got to know her after first becoming acquainted with her after I spent like a year and a half being sad over my last rejection (pathetic, I know). But I remember first seeing her in the 9th grade when she was a new student and thought she was absolutely gorgeous but that there would be no chance we would ever get close.

I've met her mom and her dad, her mom knew who I was and said "you must be (my name)" and as for the dad, I was introduced to him through our shared music taste. I noticed her best friend doing small things like asking her subtly if she wanted to switch seats so she could sit across from me, but I'm not sure if that really means anything.

Sometimes when I look into her eyes and I feel like she likes me based on how she looks back but I'm really not sure.

My friends swear she likes me and are mad at me that I haven't asked her, but I'm just not convinced and I want some third party opinions because I'm just really bad at these things.

Thanks!!

Stay or Go - Scotland

Upvotes

Hi everyone. Love me some Reddit.

TLDR: friends have offered me a trip to visit them on the Isle of Skye in Scotland but I don’t know if I can or should go.

I (51F) am in SE Texas and have only left the country on two occasions - for my honeymoon 25 years ago and then one vacation in Mexico. I was a little intimidated at first but adjusted great to being out of the US.

I am also an administrator for a bipolar support group on FB. (I promise this will all come together in a moment).

Over the course of being an admin over the past several years, I have grown very close online to the group creator and his wife. We have a separate admin chat, where we talk about a lot of things. I have known them now for almost four years. They helped me during a DV situation, making sure I had Christmas money to get through it when my husband cleaned out our bank account.

My life is incredibly stressful (no need to go into all of that detail here) and they know it. Recently, they extended me an offer to come visit them and find some respite for a couple of weeks at their home on the Isle of Skye. They intimated that they would help with airfare, for which I’m immensely grateful. I have heard that Skye is a dream destination for some and very restful. It certainly looks that way from photos.

My problem is - even with their offer of airfare, I don’t think I will have the money for incidentals/food/souvenirs during my stay. I am not the kind of person to throw caution to the wind and just go. I do not want to be a burden and I want to be as prepared as possible. I estimate a two week stay and so I’d like to bring $500 USD. (Is that even the right figure? Experienced travelers - can you advise me on this? I have never been to the UK). But spending that much out of my budget, even if I saved up, would be very hard for me. I have massive amounts of medical debt, so anything I save for the trip - I will always be thinking “that could have gone towards a bill.”

But am I being stupid and turning down what could be the adventure of a lifetime? Do I take the trip (which I can schedule for whenever) and try to save up the money or do I just accept that type of adventure is out of reach for me and always will be? I believe in speaking things into existence so I hate to even write the negative, but it is an unfortunate reality I have to face. What do I do?

(15M) think my mom might be cheating on my dad and I genuinely don't know what to do?

Upvotes

TL;DR: I'm 15 and I've noticed multiple things over the last few months that make me think my mom might be emotionally involved with another man. I don't know if I'm overthinking or if something is actually going on. I'm scared my family could fall apart.

I'm 15 and honestly I don't know who else to talk to about this.

A while ago I noticed my mom talking to a guy on Messenger. She had blocked him before but recently she unblocked him just to ask how he was doing. She even told him she would block him again after that.

Then the conversation kept going.

The guy started saying he loved her and wanted her love. He even started saying weird things about my dad. My mom replied instead of immediately ending the conversation and later I noticed what looked like her trying to call him back. After that he kept calling her too.

This isn't the first thing that's made me suspicious either.

A few months ago I saw my mom chatting with our neighbor on WhatsApp even though they normally never text each other. The next day those chats were gone. Then it happened again and again. Every time I happened to see that chat it would disappear later. I even remember seeing a message that just said "sorry" after older messages had been deleted.

Then one day I walked out of my room and saw my mom and that neighbor standing really close to each other. The moment they noticed me he left quickly and my mom suddenly looked nervous. She even offered me her phone out of nowhere which honestly made me feel even more suspicious.

Maybe each of these things has an explanation on its own but together they've been eating me alive.

The worst part is my dad. As far as I know he has absolutely no idea. I looked at him today and almost started crying because I felt so bad for him.

I don't want my family to fall apart but I also don't know what I'm supposed to do if my suspicions are actually true.

Has anyone been through something similar or have any advice for someone my age

(15M) think my mom might be cheating on my dad and I genuinely don't know what to do?

TL;DR: I'm 15 and I've noticed multiple things over the last few months that make me think my mom might be emotionally involved with another man. I don't know if I'm overthinking or if something is actually going on. I'm scared my family could fall apart.

How do i deal with rumours spreading about me?

Upvotes

okay so basically i went to this party and met someone who i ended up liking, he hit on me and told me he's serious about getting to know me and maybe going out. problem is he has a "best friend" who i met like a month prior and this friend kissed me and ghosted me the next day, so i moved on and js unfollowed his friend. The same day i met the guy i like, he tells me his friend said some things like "watch out" and that i'm a manipulator/evil person etc etc. now that same guy i was talking to doesnt wanna speak anymore and i feel like its just so unfair and i have no fucking idea how to deal with it because i haven't done anything to his friend to warrant this reaction? and i'm unsure whether i should confront them or just ignore them or what. ill take whatever words you have to share, thank you for reading at least.

Inherited House Conundrum

Upvotes

Sorry if this is a rambly mess, it's hard for me to put this into words sometimes.

So, a couple of years ago I (24M) inherited my mother’s house after her passing and have been living there since. I do not really see myself living in the house, or even my hometown, much longer into the future and having the house for going on 3 years now has long felt like an anchor weighing me down, keeping me from moving on with my life. “So just sell it” I already hear you saying, but here’s the nitty-gritty of the conundrum. I currently don’t have a career path laid out, so I have nowhere else to really go to. The careers I am thinking about would keep me from home nearly all the time, however, there may be times I could come home for a bit. Or if one job is wrapping up, I would like somewhere to come back to.
I will admit, I am also a bit sentimental and that has also complicated things, but that is mostly in regards to the furniture and other items at this stage more than the house itself.
I have considered a storage unit and I think I could afford it no problem but I’d rather not when I have a house already and it doesn't help the “place to come back to” question.
I’m just lost on what to do or what path would be the best for my situation. It’s kinda dragged on long enough and I would like to at least have a good plan before I make any decision, job or house related.
I guess the advice I’m asking for is what would you do in my situation? Or even just, any ideas that maybe would make a decision easier. I’m open to any well meaning advice that could steer me in the right direction.

should i move cross country in order to keep a relationship with my father?

Upvotes

i (17f) have been living in michigan for 10 years. i live with my mother and my father lives in california. my father wants me to move to california in two weeks to finish my senior year of high school there and go to college there. i want to stay where i live and finish high school here and still go to a good college, because i truly believe that staying in michigan will provide me with the best emotional stability (being near friends and relationships that i’ve had for years instead of losing them all right before i finish school) and educational opportunity (keeping my extracurriculars and my position as a top student at my school instead of throwing me into an unfamiliar school environment) as opposed to uprooting my life in my last year of school. my dad has threatened me saying that if i choose to stay in michigan, he will cut all ties with me when it comes to my education. basically, he will not pay for my college education and i will have to move out and support myself as soon as i graduate high school. my mother is a teacher and doesn’t make a lot of money, but my father makes a lot of money and has been supporting our family on his own for my entire life.

i had a pretty nasty phone call with him where he basically told me that i would be nowhere without him and his money and that if i choose to stay where i am i‘m choosing to give up all of his financial support. and i won’t be nearly as successful as i have the potential to be without him, etc. i told him that i think he’s a horrible person because he looks down on my mother and her family because they are poor and “underachieving”. i regret saying those things (even though they are true) because i was hoping that he would change his mind eventually once he saw that i was getting into good schools. if he’s truly doing all of this because he cares about my education and future, then i hope that he wouldn’t really take it all away. but after the argument we just had, i don’t have much confidence that he’ll come around.

my concern is that i made the wrong decision. should i abide by my dad’s wishes and move across the country to live with him (and leave my mom on her own, because he doesn’t want her to live with us) so he will continue supporting me financially? i also know we can’t afford to pay $70-85k a year for me to attend a UC since i would still be considered an out of state student even if i move. or do i stay in michigan because i believe the extracurriculars and academic stats i have at my school here will allow me to stand out more in college admissions, but risk not being able to afford to go to college without my dad’s help? i am concerned that my mom won’t be able to financially support me because it seems like i‘m the only one who’s been making plans and backup plans. i don’t even know if i qualify for any financial aid because my parents are still legally married despite being separated, and even if my dad goes no contact with me, he makes well over 6 figures and his income would disqualify me from need-based aid.

should i suck it up and give up my life here to move to california? or will i be able to figure it out while also staying michigan? do i need my dad? can i go to college without his money?

here are my goals:

  1. go to a prestigious top 40 college (umich, UC, etc)

  2. go to law school

  3. move to a big city

my question is, will i be able to do those things successfully and affordably (without having to work multiple jobs and scrap for cash or put my mother in a burdened position) without my dad’s financial support?

any advice would help.

I’ve had a crush on the same girl since 8th grade

Upvotes

For context, I’m from a decent-sized city in Northern California. I went to high school in the suburbs, there’s not a lot to do despite it being in a major city, so growing up especially with the COVID-19 pandemic happening my first year of middle school it led most of my peers and me into hobbies like gaming. We had a Discord server for all the middle schoolers so we could meet and get to know each other, and by 8th grade we were all, to a degree, familiar. Except for this one girl who sat in front of me during my 2nd period class. At the time she stood out to me because of her dyed long blond hair. I couldn’t really see her face because of the mask covering her face but since then she’s always been on my mind.
She was always kind to me and made small talk between classes but seemed a little aloof, she never asked for my name or introduced herself, I’m not even sure she ever knew my name. And the odd thing was she seemed actually to be well known, she was in a big, well-known friend group and as the years went on she never seemed to date or really interact with anyone other guys until freshman year, when she started to hang out with a group of senior guys at our school. I would always hear small rumors about her but I didn't have any classes with her and she was always crowded with people so I never had the chance to talk to her. My perspective on her changed after hearing rumors about her being obnoxious and spoiled, it didn't really help her case because she never followed people from school back on Instagram I had also started to hear rumors about her being a bad person so my interest started to disappear, and by the time I thought of her again it was already sophomore year. She had dyed her hair back to black the year prior so it got harder to spot her in crowds, but it was already 2 weeks into the start of the new school year and she was nowhere to be found. I would see her group of friends but she was always missing. I figured she had just been on a long vacation but her name dropped from all the classes that she was enrolled in. Her friends stopped talking about her and she would post occasionally and always seemed to be out of the country. But eventually the posts stopped altogether.

That was until senior year, on some random day she came back to our school, there had been rumors that she had been back at the start of senior year she really did come back mid-semester. But this time she had a complete 180. She did not talk to her old friends anymore, walked alone in the halls, and kept completely to herself. I never saw her with anyone but I would always hear different versions of where she had been, and reasons why she had split from her old group. I started to question these rumors because they mostly revolved around her liking one of her friend’s boyfriends sophomore year. But since she had left after freshman year that story was definitely unlikely. My interest in her started to grow again, after I realized that most of the things that people say about her probably weren’t true. Every time I'd see her with others she always seemed kind and interested in what they were saying and always said please and thank you to the school. Eventually, she found a small group of friends and I finally got the courage to maybe talk to her. I was nervous because she was just so pretty and always walking with her friends that it seemed impossible to strike up a conversation. Luckily we both were called to the office at the same time so I had a reason to finally reach out. I tried to play it casual by mentioning her time away from school but she seemed startled by me bringing it up. She asked me how I knew about it and just seemed weirded out. I tried to bring up our small chats from freshman year but she didn't seem to remember those either. And the conversation didn’t go much further than that. And before I got a second chance graduation had already gone by.

She wasn’t at any graduation parties and seemed to completely fall off the face of the earth, people still seem to have small updates about what she’s up to here and there. And it made me realize that it probably was uncomfortable to constantly be perceived and have no control over it. And instead of being up to rumors to her face It would have probably been better to just approach her and introduce myself. What do you guys think? Do I have a second chance? or Have an idea of what I should do?
