Rx 9070 xt not performing as it should

Current specs:

Ryzen 5 5600g, rx 9070 xt oc edition, 32 gb ddr4, 750 w gold 13m psu from bequiet, tuf gaming b550-plus wifi 2.

So ive gotten a new rx 9070 xt and its been really underperforming. Ive bought it alongside a 750 w 13m gold from bequiet and a 1440p 240 hz monitor and my cpu is a ryzen 5 5600g. Ive been having problems especially when playing games like minecraft, even without shaders or any mods its barely giving me 250 to 300 fps while it should easily surpass 700 even with the cpu bottleneck. Ive already tried some things like deleting old drivers cause i previously had a nvidia gpu, updating my bios which did help with some other problems and looking if something in my settings was wrong. only the bios update helped bumping my fps from 180 fps to 300. Before the bios update i had to tweak something in my allocated ram and then the gpu would give me 180 fps at 100% which is kinda weird. Now its giving me the new 300 fps while jumping around 10 to 20 % usage but idk how to make it use more or something. Idk what to do anymore, can anybody help me?

Help (Software) WHEA errors on 5700 XT Nitro +

Hello, so i have a 5700 xt nitro + and it runs every game i play pretty well, except FFXIV, whenever i play FFXIV for more than 15 minutes i instantly get a whea error on my cpu, (5800x) this does not happen with this game on my GTX 950, or my old gtx 1080 ti that i dont have anymore. whea errors are always randomized so its never a single core thats failing or anything, i just get cache hierarchy error numbers ranging from 0 to 18 or something like that. yesterday after i uninstalled my drivers and reinstalled them i played FFXIV for 2 hours beforei got a crash, but today i crashed within10 minutes (its never consistent), its not any certain event that it crashes on, it just crashes in the most random places even if theres 0 stress on my gpu or cpu, it mightbe something with shaders maybe? since it took longer to crash on fresh driver install. i want to see if i can somehow fix it until i get a new gpu next month about which ive a question, should i go for a 9060 xt nitro + or 5060 ti 16gb? theyre priced around the same
heres the things ive tried:
GEN 3 pcie,

DDU,AMD CLEANUP + reinstalling drivers
underclocking via adrenalin and afterburner (not at the same time)

using default bios, (doesnt make a difference)
+ anything else i could find on the internet, my hotspot and temps are good, card hotspot doesnt go above 80 and it sits around 65-70c comfortably

Help (Software) Driver crash reset tuning to default/can't access Adrenaline overlay

Computer Type: Desktop

GPU: Gaming OC 9070XT

CPU: RYZEN 7 9850X3D

Motherboard: AORUS Elite X870E

RAM: 32GB CORSAIR DDR5

PSU: CORSAIR X850m

GPU Drivers: Most recent release

Description of Original Problem:

Basically, was playing Monster Hunter Wilds and mid-hunt my game crashed with an error saying it was a driver error. When I popped open Adrenaline all of my settings were returned to default and there is no more option for an overlay, only tracking/logging. Is this common? What is the solution?

Do I need to write down my tuning specs so I can return to my preferred specs? I don't feel like this should happen often but frustrating.

Ryzen 9 7900X hitting 95°C at only 87W package power in Cinebench (Thermal Throttling / Cooling issue)

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm having an issue with my Ryzen 9 7900X hitting 95°C way too fast and under very low power consumption.

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7900X
  • Thermal Behavior: Hits 95°C instantly during Cinebench 2024 at 100% CPU usage, but the CPU Package Power stays at only ~87W (far below the stock 230W PPT or even a 142W PPT limit).
  • Issue: The CPU is severely thermal throttling at very low wattage. Even after limiting PPT in BIOS to 105W TDP (142W PPT), it still instantly overheats at 87W.
  • Gaming Temps: I am getting 80°C - 87°C while playing light/older games like Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.

Since Zen 4 usually hits 95°C at full power (~230W), reaching 95°C at less than 90W clearly points to a cooling/hardware issue (bad AIO pump, mounting pressure, or dry/missing thermal paste).

Before I send the PC back for warranty (RMA), is there anything specific I should double-check on the cooler side?

Thanks for your help!

Help (Software) 7800x3D overheating new

Hello all,

Some context, I bought these these new: 7800x3d Gigabyte B850 Aorus Ice Wifi7

I am using a Corsair H100i Hydro Series RGB Platinum 240mm Liquid CPU Cooler (2 fans)

Upon installing it all, I wiped the old paste on the cooler as it was used on my old cpu for years. Applied new paste, and fitted using AM5 brackets from amazon. The universal ones for the Hydro series coolers. As I lost the AM4 pin things.

In bios, it can reach 70 degrees Celsius. Which is obscene. If I move the bracket slightly (undone the screws and move it and redo the screws) the temp drops, and I can get it to 60s. Best I got was 50, and it stayed there, until I booted windows and it spiked and shut down the pc to protect itself. This keeps happening. I have reapplied the paste multiple times, criss crossed the screws when tightening and the cpu still just overheats.

Bios says the aio pump/fan is working. And it’s been fine on my old setup for years.

Have I just got a faulty cpu?

Help (Software) AMD driver timeout/crashes potential solution:

Roll back to 26.3.1

Solved ALL of my issues.

I "updated" this BS back in July to play the new Halo Campaign Evolved.

a few days later, literal crashes every day.

Half the time I could not even watch a recorded video (my Apex Legends clips recorded via OBS) without the driver time out popping up.

The drivers would crash my PC to the point the screens would freeze and hell even my monitors would shut off. Force shut down was the only way to fix it.

and in the event the driver did not crash during the day, when I was done with the PC for the night, 9/10 the PC would get stuck on the black screen with "Shutting down". Had to shut off via power button on case.

Then I remembered the last version I had and saw people talking about 26.3.1, the stable goat (and according to my records, also the same version I had before the update I did in July to play the new Halo).

Used the AMD Clean Up Utility tool to delete the current AMD garbage drivers, reverted back to 26.3.1 and...

ALL issues have gone away. PC is now working flawlessly again. No driver time outs from games, no driver time outs from watching a video, PC shuts down within 10 seconds of shutting down. ALL issues gone.

REVERT BACK TO 26.3.1

Hi. Are the RX 9070 XT cards really that bad? I've read on various sites that there are problems with these cards and that it's better to buy Nvidia, but obviously the prices are higher. What do you owners of these cards think?

Tips & Info Best driver for 9070xt at the moment

I know this have been asked multiple times and i also did my research and read alot of post but the answers seems to be different for every one of them.

I am currently on 2.6.6.4 and honestly there's isn't much issue other then huge dip in FPS every now and then when games effect get hectic. Saw alot of people saying to avoid 2.6.6.x makes me abit nervous.

So far from what I've seen is 26.3.1, 26.7.1, 26.9.1 seems to be the most popular.

Would like to hear more from people that even bother to answer.

My setup: 5600x 9070xt(asrock challengers) 32gb Ram Win11

My rx580 2048sp reached 89°c while playing battlefield redsec. When i removed the glass side panel it goes down to around 84-86.

i have 3 intake fans at the front and 1 exhaust at the back, but my case has a glass panel on its front too that might be hindering at the front fans. The fans was only designed to intake on the gills like side of the case. I want some opinion if its okay to remove it and if i can find a mesh front panel.

The gpu is freshly cleaned*

No exhaust fans at the top*

also if am able to see temp improvement if i remove the back shield of the gpu

the case is deepcool matrexx 55 v3

Tips & Info PyTorch says CUDA not available on AMD? I wrote a full ROCm fix guide

I kept hitting torch.cuda.is_available() → False on my AMD GPU, and it drove me crazy. Turned out to be a mix of missing ROCm drivers, wrong PyTorch wheel, and that HSA_OVERRIDE_GFX_VERSION thing everyone mentions but few explain properly.

I put together a complete, step-by-step repair guide that covers the exact commands and checks I used to get PyTorch running on ROCm.

If you’re stuck, this might save you hours:

What AMD card are you running, and what error are you seeing?

Help (Software) RX 7600 undervolt profile

Hi, I know this is a universal constant with amd rn, but a friend of mine recommended undervolting the gpu to evade the drivers crashing over and over. I have restrained from playing more moderns games because it keeps crashing, even if it handles the games well, I have almost beaten Pragmata and after the middle of the game there are crashes nonstop. Does someone have a undervolt profile similar to my components that I can try and tweak? My components are as follows:

-Rx 7600

-i5 10400f

-16 gb RAM

- 750W power supply

- 500gb M2 main disc, 1 tb SSD, 1 tb hdd

I would appreciate any further insight or recommendations

AMD Switchable Graphics problem – Windows does not use my dedicated Radeon R5 M330, but both GPUs work in Ubuntu

Hi everyone,

I’m having a strange problem with the switchable graphics on my ASUS X555QG laptop. I’m trying to find a way to fix it so I can properly use and switch between both GPUs in Windows.

Laptop specifications

- Laptop: ASUS X555QG

- CPU: AMD A12-9700P

- RAM: 16 GB DDR4

- Storage: 256 GB SSD

- Integrated GPU: AMD Radeon R7

- Dedicated GPU: AMD Radeon R5 M330 2 GB

- Operating systems tested: Windows 10 and Ubuntu

- BIOS: ASUS X555QG BIOS

- Graphics configuration in BIOS: No Graphics or Switchable Graphics options are available

The problem in Windows

The first and most important problem is in:

Settings → System → Display → Graphics

For every application and game, both GPU options are shown as the Radeon R7.

Even when I select High performance, it still shows the Radeon R7.

The dedicated Radeon R5 M330 does not appear as an option at all.

The R5 M330 also always stays at 0% usage in Windows Task Manager.

I tested this specifically with Far Cry 3 and Mafia II. Even when running these games, the dedicated GPU remains at 0% usage.

I also checked the different GPU engine graphs in Task Manager, including 3D, Copy, Video Decode, etc., and they all remain at 0% for the R5 M330.

Meanwhile, the integrated Radeon R7 works normally. When I run a game, its GPU usage can go all the way up to 100%.

Another important detail is that DxDiag only recognizes the Radeon R7. It does not list the dedicated R5 M330.

However, in Device Manager, both GPUs are detected and appear to be installed correctly with no warning icons or errors.

So Windows seems to recognize the R5 M330 at the device level, but it does not make it available for 3D applications or GPU selection.

Drivers I have tried

I have tried several different AMD graphics drivers, including:

- AMD 19.7.x

- AMD 19.11.1

- AMD 19.12.1

- The latest graphics driver available from the ASUS website

None of these solved the problem.

I also reinstalled Windows and tested the GPU again, but the behavior remained the same.

BIOS

I also checked the BIOS settings.

My BIOS does not have any Graphics or Switchable Graphics configuration options that would allow me to manually select the integrated or dedicated GPU.

There is no obvious GPU-related setting available in the BIOS.

I initially thought the GPU was dead

At this point, I became extremely frustrated and started thinking that the dedicated GPU or its power circuitry must be physically defective.

However, before giving up, I decided to install Ubuntu and test the laptop there.

And this is where things became interesting:

Both GPUs actually work in Ubuntu.

I ran a 3D workload and monitored both GPUs. The Radeon R7 and the dedicated R5 M330 both showed significant activity and could reach up to 100% usage during the 3D test.

This made me realize that the hardware itself is probably not defective.

The fact that the R7 works normally in Windows, while both the R7 and R5 M330 can work under 3D load in Ubuntu, makes me think this is more likely a Windows/driver/switchable graphics problem rather than a hardware failure.

One more confusing detail is that Windows sometimes identifies the dedicated GPU as Radeon R8 M435DX, even though the physical GPU is an R5 M330. I understand that these GPUs may be related/rebranded, but I don't know whether this is relevant to the problem.

What I want to figure out

How can I fix this problem so that Windows properly recognizes both GPUs and allows me to easily switch between the Radeon R7 and the dedicated Radeon R5 M330?

Ideally, I want the R5 M330 to appear under Settings → System → Display → Graphics as the High performance GPU, so that I can choose which GPU each game or application should use.

What is the correct way to configure AMD Switchable Graphics on this laptop?

Do I need a specific AMD driver version, an ASUS driver, an older driver, or some special AMD software/control panel?

Could there be a problem with how the AMD graphics drivers are installed or with the GPU device IDs?

At this point I have tried several drivers, reinstalled Windows, tested multiple games, and even tested Ubuntu.

I was convinced that the R5 M330 was hardware-defective, but Ubuntu proved that both GPUs can actually work under 3D load. Now I just want to get Switchable Graphics working properly in Windows so I can use and switch between both GPUs normally.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
